  1. Hate to ask but I want to experiment...did anyone get JP DLC with Cloud or Squall? I wanna check out the files for something.
  2. Unfortunately the demo I bought is not working for me due to certain reasons *cough* .
  3. Chocobo Cologne = Level Up in the store when you get the full game. Edit: Well, almost free...it costs gil since it IS a trade accessory.
  4. Prologus English Demo is out on PSN NOW!!! 2.99
  5. Assist is just above the Level Slider option in your equip menu. Every character has preset assist controls and HP attack assists that you can't exactly modify except to use them for what they're for. The assist that comes out is highly dependant on the position of the enemy, if they are on the ground or in the air. You can essentially go without equipping an Assist, but I'm not sure which rules ban Assist, I have yet to mess with the rules settings in their entirety. Otherwise default A.I. will always have an assist. Also worth noting, in Dungeons you will only get Assists from the character on the map, in Confessions of the Creator, if you attack and defeat your assist character, you'll no longer have an Assist to use.
  6. Depending on what attack it is, there's a number of things you can do. Onion Knight's Flare and Sword Rain are hard to escape due to how they home in you. The trick is to wait out the Brave drain, then use Assist Break before the final hit of the combo so that you don't take any HP damage (since Break can always recover). Also, be careful about "bursting" out of stun and wasting Assist Break, as if you get hit into a wall from something, the game still registers the Assist as taking the hit, when in reality you both took a hit and you'll be worse off. Certain characters like Cloud, Sephiroth, and Desperado Chaos can punish you off walls and floor crashes with assists and other stuff. For example, Cloud can use Tifa as a relauncher for a ton of his basic combos. If you have a wider aerial evasion ability equipped, it'll get you out of trouble. Climhazzard > Crash > Tifa Relaunch > X Warp > Omnislash Ver.5/Other Omnislash Ver. 5 > Crash > Tifa Relaunch > X Warp > Omnislash Vers.5/Other Also Kain is unique in that he has a sequences of Aerial combos that only he can do (many of them are distance-dependant so if you knock them too far away your dash can't reach to finish the combo). Piercing Lance > Triangle Dash > Celestial Shooter > Triangle Dash (setup for Rising Drive) <- Awesome for tall stages Piercing Lance > Triangle Dash > Thrust Rush > Triangle Dash (setup for Sky Rave/Dragon Fang) <- best in narrow passages Crash Dive > (send them forwards) Triangle Dash > Thrust Rush > Triangle Dash (setup for Sky Rave/Dragon Fang) <- hard to do but best in narrow spaces Crash Dive > (send them upwards) Traiangle Dash > Celestial Shooter > > Triangle Dash (setup for Rising Drive) <- hard to do but best in narrow/tall spaces
  7. I was using Aerith and while she's not the best assist, there are ways of setting her up to be useful more often. There's an ability called Dash-Assist Boost that works in conjunction with ground and free dashing that builds your assist meter faster, and also there is an ability called "Assist Critical Up" and "EXP = Assist" and "Auto-Assist" as well. Assist Critical Up applies to her Cure I think, and works best with characters like Shantotto and Warrior of Light.
  8. Okay, job class info for Party Battle: I don't know what is needed to "master" these jobs, but I guess if a certain character uses them for long enough he/she can use others in Party Battle. Also, about Replays, the game has it's own initial format to save it as, but to convert it to .Avi or some other format you need so much space to save it on your PSP, so be sure to make some room. Depending on how long the video is may be a factor as well, since Dissidia battles don't have a time limit or rounds like other fighting games. IMO Assists are like this game's version of Burst, but also, worth noting is that if you're caught being forced to Assist Break, you will warp "above" the opponent, and in some situations that's bad, for example, Cloud's Omnislash Ver. 5 has "homing" ability and he can jump higher after you after it starts up and break your guard easily. Also, when you warp "above" it seems to have some kind of weird ceiling breaking property...in other words, if you do Assist Break near the top of the ceiling, you appear to be just a little above the ceiling barrier, but you can still counterattack afterwards...this is actually an ideal situation for Kain to counter from with his Sky Drill.
  9. Just a bit of advice for those of you who like collecting all there is to collect in this game: If you want all the cutscenes, one of the dungeons in Confessions of the Creator has a Moogle scene in it, you'll have to touch him once with a Chaos Character, and again with Terra/Cosmos character to get both cutscenes collected. Also, later into the areas, enemies are annoying as hell as they'll always summon Ultima and Omega on you, Omega being the worst if you're trying to beat them for more KP. Also, certain Summons can only be found in the Labrynth and bought with the coins you earn there.
  10. Buying buying buying....just give up the DLC already, Squeenix.
  11. I made a thread specifically for translation jobs. http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?10088-Translation-Request-Thread-For-people-who-need-stuff-translated-post-stuff-HERE.&highlight=
  12. This is sortof a mini (?) guide to Prische's combo equips and includes skillchains I found. Edit: That's all of them, the rest either end in Stage Crash or Chase An example would be something like 1-6: Combo>Spinning Attack, which can only be set up on the Ground Starter set skill equip. ----Skillchain Enders (just FX, no bonus damage): Detonation (Ground Explosion) Liquefaction (Air Lava) Reverbation (Imploding Red Sphere) Compression (Gravity Sphere) Impaction (Gravity Hole) Gravitation (Red Void) Fusion (Yellow Supernova) Transfixion (Slash Mark) -------Ground Starters (1-4) Combo (#1) Howling Fist (#2) Dragon Kick (#3) Shoulder Tackle (#4) -------Air Starters (5-8) Backhand Blow (#5) Spinning Attack (#6) Raging Fists (#7) One-Inch Punch (#8) Possible Skillchain Combinations ------- 1-1 1-2 1-3 1-4 1-5 Detonation 1-6 Liquefaction 1-7 1-8 -- 2-1 2-2 2-3 2-4 Reverbation 2-5 Detonation 2-6 Liquefaction 2-7 2-8 Compression -- 3-1 3-2 3-3 3-4 3-5 3-6 3-7 3-8 -- 4-1 Impaction 4-2 Impaction 4-3 4-4 Impaction 4-5 Detonation 4-6 Impaction 4-7 Impaction 4-8 ------- 5-1 5-2 5-3 5-4 5-5 5-6 5-7 5-8 Gravitation -- 6-1 Fusion 6-2 Fusion 6-3 6-4 Fusion 6-5 Detonation 6-6 Fusion 6-7 Fusion 6-8 -- 7-1 7-2 7-3 7-4 7-5 Detonation 7-6 Liquefaction 7-7 7-8 -- 8-1 8-2 Transfixion 8-3 8-4 8-5 Detonation 8-6 8-7 8-8
  13. Hence why I said "curveball" it could be on that new PSP2 or whatever if they think they can cash in on it.
  14. I dunno, the only FF dubs I ever appreciated were 12 and 8 and little bit with 7 but not much. If Liam reprised his role as Kain (FF4DS) it can't be helped but, I still think the JP voice is much better. Liam will always be Lezard Valeth to me. Also, Gabranth's JP voice will ALWAYS be manlier. Kurushi wa yaiba wo wanga kinjite KISAKE!! And as per usual, Squeenix may throw us yet another curveball with Duodecim Universal tuning, so I hold my breath for that (U.S. Context with JP Dub = awesome).
  15. My write-up on Desperado Chaos: First of all, if you're aware of what all he can do, and that blocking really ISN'T an option, and you dodge stuff like crazy, he's not that hard to deal with...it's all about the stats. He's an SNK-boss to say the least. That said, almost all of his Brave Attacks cost a TON of CP to equip, so you gotta pick wisely, once you learn stuff, he progresses. His ground pounce is probably his best rush, and not only that but one of his secondary claw air combos outdoes even normal Chao's normals!! Yep he's broken, lol. But on the flip-side his HP attacks follow certain rules. You can equip up to THREE (3) HP attacks on his ground or aerial set and TWO (2) for his other ground or aerial set...in other words you are limited to FIVE (5) HP attack equips. Which makes sense considering how wide the hitboxes are. He has two Guard-based HP attacks, one which acts like a burst but has no range, and another that acts like a short-range shotgun. The rest is chargeable or projectiles... And as with Justice, D.Chaos has a huge hitbox, so that makes moves easier to do on him...I can pwn him rather easily with Kain's Jumping antics. But never underestimate his ability to move quickly with quick rise or dive moves, he'll break you easily. His EX Burst isn't entirely in his favor, though, you can actually get broken during your own Burst, so it's better to save it for EX Revenge or possibly just finish it up right away, otherwise you're just gambling away your Brave Points. Other things: His EX Mode model seems like it has some kind of error on his face, the eyes aren't visible at all (similar to the Garland Model error in the first game) Desperado Chaos is PLAYABLE in "Confessions of the Creator" as the Party Leader...he can tromp around the map for lulz. His roar = <3<3<3 In other news: I cannot find all the dungeons on the map...does anyone have a map location of all of them?! I'm missing cutscenes and stuff.
  16. Well, I learned a *few* more things about Confessions of the Creator: 1. The yellow "barrier" in certain dungeons that blocks your path to a treasure is there as a "Level Barrier" in other words you have to exceed the KP Level Limit in order to break the barrier, so in the smaller dungeons that have it, I recommend a Level 100 party just to smash through and get dem treasures! SCREW DA KP! 2. Certain "deeper dungeons" upon completion net you story fragments and more Reports to watch. Also since you rescued a Moogle, he'll follow you around to see things through. 3. Um...kinda an easter egg but, going through the Cutscene theater, Moogles will randomly appear in the preview picture...this does nothing to change the scene, however. 4. Fought Desperado Chaos...and...damn... Well, at least you don't have to fight him in three rounds like actual Chaos. Music and Scenery changed a bit upon beating him (still not unlocked yet though). 5. Character allies that appear in-dungeon to Assist you in battles can be optionally fought, but they are hard as hell, so decide wisely. Their equipment is some of the best though. 6. Red Treasure chests are Monster-in-a-Box...you never know what level enemy you'll get, but you get treasure afterwards at least. 7. Kindof an easter egg: If you beat the opponent with Gilgamesh's EX Mode without actually using EX Burst attack, (Square, then Circle to skip instead of Square again), you get to see Gilgamesh's win pose WITH the weapons!!
  17. I wish Ad Hoc Party worked on PS3s connected to net via WiFi. WiFi's all I got around here. In other news: Confessions of the Creator is a LOT harder than Inner Chaos, I'm on ONE dungeon and I've already hit 8+ floors, if you can take out strong enemies on multiple floors without losing much HP and not making mistakes to open up the routes, well...you get stuff...I went in Penalized and I've managed to get 150+ KP without even bothering to nerf my levels. Still no end in sight. Also, not sure what kinds of benefits you get for beating "character" pieces, but since they're pretty much uber strong anyway, best to take them out when they're on the floor...otherwise you CAN ignore them if they're not in your way.
  18. About all I can say in response to the Prishe comment is, just because a move puts an enemy in guard stun if it's blocked doesn't mean they can't dodge cancel the stun. A.I. does it all the time on my Squall's Upper Blues (aka Squall's Bandit Revolver lol).
  19. People were asking about "Confessions of the Creator" well...near as I can tell it's basically "Inner Chaos" but now enemies wandering the map are Level 86+ (I *highly* suggest going through the Final Chapter a few times before trying this map). Layout is similar, but now you have Warp Crystals in various "nostalgic" places throughout FF1 world, and nearby every warp point is a dungeon. Dungeon enemies aren't "too" bad, but for some reason the Dungeon's treasure is blocked off in order for some conditions to be met. There are various Moogles on the map, but they won't sell anything till you "acquire" a certain item. Also, unlike the story modes, the Party members standing in the dungeons are "no longer" your allies and in fact they are most likely Level 100s with super equipment. Beating them doesn't unlock the blocked off treasure, so you'll have to find another means. Still, for any daring souls, there's lots of treasure on the world map alone, provided you can avoid a Level 86 enemy or two. Since you have a Party of your best characters (Hero or Villain), I wish you the best of luck, but I'm not even up to par yet, my equipment and Levels need improvement. If two of your party members die in battle, you can't resurrect them till you leave the dungeons or possibly use an item. Oh yeah, almost forgot: About Level Suppression, Suppressing your Levels doesn't take away your CP skillset, it only limits you on equipment, the way it works is, if you are below the Level required in a Dungeon, the game "adds" KP to your score in a negative value based on how many levels below the limit you are. Let's say a particular dungeon requirement is 30. If your party's level is 46-50, you get penalized by how many times your characters exceeded Level 30 x 5 so possibly -100 KP penalty. If you suppress your levels to 1, each party member gets a KP bonus of 30, so you get +150 KP. It's annoying but, you have to suppress each character's levels one person at a time and not all at once, also, if they are "naturally" below the requirement, they get a KP bonus, but if they level up past the requirement "within" the dungeon, they won't be penalized. I just realized, in some dungeons you just need to touch the Chaos Stigma to clear it, so you could probably abuse the KP system that way, just by suppressing your levels, entering, and leaving, lololol.
  20. Thanks for that, EX Dust = EX Force in-game terms. I'm guessing Genji's Katana is the brown sword with the huge hitbox slash effect. Also some other stuff: EX Mode let's Gilgamesh swing a lot wider with his Brave Attacks, I don't know how big a change that is in small areas like Phantom Train, but it can still get blocked as far as I'm aware. His Tornado HP Attack can block projectiles in some situations but he's vulnerable if you hit him from above, plus it doesn't have much horizontal range either. His EX Revenge can essentially spam Tsubame Gaeshi over and over in a loop, so that's something worth knowing.
  21. Okay so, beating Treachery of the Gods unlocks the First 8 Reports, and depending on what you have to do, the last few "missions" in chapters 7-8 will unlock Prische and Gilgamesh! You have to "beat" Gilgamesh in order to unlock him, but, hell, I sicked a Level 1 Bartz on him and he went down like cake, so no biggie. Okay here's my writeup on Gilgamesh: Random doesn't even BEGIN to describe what you're dealing with. Each time you face him (or use him) he goes through a cycle of swords in his Brave attacks. I'll try and list them all here: Halberd (Moderate Damage) Chicken Knife (I think this gets powered up every time you dodge an attack successfully but I'm not sure, just be prepared to eat Coward's Punishment in Chaos Rules) Beastmaster?? (Not sure if this is Auron's monster catching sword or not, but it looks similar) Axe (Not sure if this is the Rune Axe) Masamune? (Looks like it, but it could be the Koutetsu too) Excalipoor (Does 1 BP damage per poke, especially annoying when you're about to break an enemy) Excalibur (Pretty much guarantees Critical or Near-Critical hits) Zantetsuken (Odin's sword, will just about guarantee a Break, or do nasty damage if it doesn't). Anyway, I don't know what all the effects of the swords are (some say one of them saps EX gauge but I can't confirm that yet), he will most of the time do moderate to crappy damage or just outright Break someone in a single combo. The cycle of weapons he uses is different every battle but, I think once IN battle, the rotation might be fixed (in other words if you figure out the pattern, you can take advantage of it), not that anyone would BOTHER with that, but it's worth noting which weapon you used last before going into EX Mode, as it'll almost always be the next weapon in the rotation. (Note that most Brave attacks involve 2 of the same weapon). As I said before, his EX Mode can be brutal as hell or crappy as hell (you do NOT want 8 Excalipoors, that's just asking for an EX Break). He will have any of these combinations: 8 of the same weapon (depending on the rotation) 4 on left, 4 on right (two different weapons, the next two weapons in rotation) 4 Halberds (double grip) All 8 weapons at once (total random mess, I don't know the odds of getting this) Then of course there's his EX Burst, it might be cheap, but equipping Auto EX Omega will guarantee he gets Excalibur every time, or you can just guess and hope, lol. In general, the nice thing about Gilgamesh is that even his HP attacks, despite being just as random, are semi Brave Attacks too, so he can still rack up SOME damage. BEST. MOMENT. IN. GAME.: Gilgamesh VS Sephiroth on the Phantom Train. :D :D :D
  22. So far, judging from how many settings you get in VS Mode and Party Mode alone...I can say that it's a mix of Labrynth Mode (Colleseum from First Dissidia), and the ability to set rules and items and rewards for various areas. I don't know if you can set what items or enemies to fight or all that, but...considering how many rules there are to mess with, it's pretty difficult to understand (and me being Japanese illiterate doesn't help). I'd suggest before you even consider making a quest, unlock all the stuff in PP Catelogue first, that way you're not missing anything.
  23. For anyone who didn't play through the First Dissidia, this game covers that and then some, in fact I'd say it's a better version of the story, since you actually get to talk to your allies mid-story and get a clearer idea of what's going on. Also, I recommend unlocking all the extra music before completing these story modes, it makes the game more engaging if you do (FF7 Battle music for random encounters is always awesome). Here's a breakdown of what I've found so far: Treachery of the Gods: Goes through Lightning, Vaan, Laguna, Kain, and Tifa's stories that essentially give the backdrop to the Crystal Saga, gives lots of opportunity to earn KP. Return of the Light (I think that's the title): Goes through the rest of the story but does an even more explorative job of it. There's an addition of stat-boosting or detrimental panels in the dungeons. This is also the first time the game actually begins to "penalize" you for your Levels when you enter a dungeon. I've gotten -25 KP in some areas, so if you really want those Summons, you have to lower your stats, now, I don't know if doing so takes away your skillsets or not, but it's possible that it doesn't. Also, take careful consideration in how you use "chain" skills that let you attack enemies on the dungeon maps in multiple directions, if you bite off more than you can chew, you lose KP, or worse, end up forced to fight a hard battle with low HP. (Manikins on higher difficulties love spamming HP attacks and dodge everything). Other than that, don't be too eager to fill up your item slots as you only get so many to use per dungeon and finding treasures sometimes forces you to dump something. Reports: Story reports that cover the Chaos side of things prior and during Cycle 012, some stuff is cutscenes, others are a series of battles using certain Chaos characters. You can tell what sections to check out by hitting Square, though I recommend leveling up the villains a bit beforehand or equipping them properly. Confessions of the Creator: Haven't tried it yet, except that it involves a custom team party of your own choosing, so take advantage of your best characters. About Party Mode: Besides being the easiest way to level up characters you're not so good with, depending on what job class you task certain characters with, they get certain boosts they wouldn't ordinarily have, such as putting Tina in the Black Mage slot, so that her magic is more effective. In a way this mode is lot like Guilty Gear's 3 on 3 mode, as you essentially keep a single HP count from one battle to the next. Each win nets your whole party EXP, unfortunately it doesn't split AP so only the active character gets that for skills. The only time Party Mode kinda "breaks rank" is at the end of Treachery of the Gods where each character fights their "story nemesis" instead of a series of battles. I hope that covers the main stuff without spoiling anything. I honestly recommend playing this from scratch instead of importing your Exp, since the game feels more engaging if you do, though earning AP and CP management will be a pain as always, lol. More later.
  24. Oh yeah, and seriously, the Laguna leg cramp scene is just...lol it's Dark Cloud fanservice to say the least.
  25. Well, I'm taking it slow since it's the JP version and I don't give a crap about equips. Going fast and skipping Tutorials makes Mog angry and he makes Desperado Chaos attack you with MAX STATS. (vs a level 1 eep!) So far I've done Lightning and Vaan's routes in Treachery of the Gods, and the world map is...well it's quite expansive, dungeons feel a lot "looser" and there's less pressure to complete them compared to the DP points system. Summons are bought in the Kupo shop or found in dungeons, which makes them much easier to get now. And I guess there's a few spots you can re-enter and build your characters a bit. I still haven't figured out how to "block" map enemies' attacks. I can quickmove on bridges (Triangle), cut things (Circle), and dodge (X), but so far that's it, L+R and D-Pad rotate the camera. The map is pretty for a PSP game though, but so far, nothing I recognize from FF1 as far as landmarks go, just old ruins here and there. Also, for some reason you can cut your allies on the map. D: Strange that I haven't gotten any mognet letters yet. No sign of Gil or Desperado yet. I'll keep playing till I figure stuff out. Meanwhile, here's more findings: Lightning has an Extra Skill Equip that lets her "start" the match either as a Ravager or Medic, which is nice depending on how you like to play (and considering how good Rav gets for her later on). Gave Vaan a try...his Brave attacks feel heavy and unwieldy at first, but once you get a feel for what each move can do, he's not bad. His HP attacks are some of the best-multi-directional I've seen. On to Cloud: since I'm still low-level with him, I've had to rely on Cross-Slash a lot for my damage, and believe me, the tracking on Cross-Slash has vastly improved, he has a lot more ground range now. Meteorain is harder to dodge too. His "air scoop" bash no longer has Chase properties (a nerf), but considering he now has a double cut chase move that does the job and Slash-blow as well, it's not too big a deal. Yuna is kinda odd, you have to really think about her range when using Summons. Shiva is very close range, while Ifrit has a little space to work with. Also summons feel like they "stay in one place" while you move, so it feels different, somewhat like Carl I think. I used Laguna a bit and man his arsenal is freaking huge...lots of stuff he can do, lots of ways to do it, you can't really let your guard down with him, can't wait to try him VS Exdeath or Cloud of Darkness. No museum yet, so meh...we'll see.
