  1. So Shadow Labrys is the "last" playable character? Interesting.
  2. Seeing as the idea behind most reversals are to reset the neutral game, I think that was what Lumin was basing his case on- he wasn't saying 5D/2D had invulnerability to beat things out. Those moves can't reliably beat drives clean- that's what matters. Some work when Noel mistimes something horrendous, and some don't work when Ragna mistimes something horrendous. And no, it doesn't "only happen when [Ragna] is purposely trying to bait a drive." Tager says hi. No, when you're trying to bait something it's because you THINK and HOPE someone's going to use it. When a Ragna uses 5D outside of a combo AT ALL, it's likely because he's expecting a 2D. No other situation is worth randomly throwing it out, since it's -24 on block and you can Counter Assault through the first hit and fuck him up. This is a scenario of risk vs. reward, in which the reward doesn't outweigh the risk in the least. You make it sound like it's this guaranteed thing. There are no blockstrings that set up frame traps against Noel's drives that aren't punishable. That's why Noel's drives ARE adequate enough- because there is no true "legitimate pressure" against them that can catch them for free without some sort of risk. Because he's not guaranteed to be stronger than his opponent. Lumin already said that 2D high profiles over a lot of Ragna's normals, and I've said that 4D anti-air shuts down a lot of aerial approaches. It's just as difficult, if not more so, for Ragna to find his way into Noel as it is for her to him. At least she has projectiles. Star, I KNOW you know Ragna can't get away with 2C -> 6C. You consistently punish me when I do that with 2D, which goes right over the first hit of 6C. Lumin even said you have 8 frames to do whatever you want between the two moves. It's not that Ragna can't punish Noel- it's that he has difficulty punishing her without a significant risk. That's really what this whole conversation boils down to. While I agree, you just acknowledged him.
  3. Damn, nice Astaroth! Now that means you can focus on... improving... even... more... ;^; Have mercy. Agreed on all accounts. It's really a bizarre situation in which two offensive characters find it difficult to play each other offensively.
  4. I try that, but my opponent always fucks it up. :/ (At 3:00) See? So play Ragna like I would Lambda? I shall make this work.
  5. "We have received too many votes from you. You will be unblocked after a cooling off period." Well, I helped push it up over 50%, so my work there is done.
  6. It's silly for people to not play a game because "nobody else does." There's no sense in quitting something you enjoy playing just to become part of the problem. As long as people just play what they enjoy, there will always be a community for it, and there will always be opportunities for it to grow.
  7. With the 360/PS3 versions of Accent Core coming out some time this year, it'd be ridiculous to expect people to run out and buy a copy of the game and a PS2. I also think replacing Blazblue with Guilty Gear would be like replacing Arcade Edition with Third Strike. GG/3S are probably more competitive and whatnot, but shutting out their predecessors from the lineup makes it more difficult to bring more people into the community. People might look at us playing Guilty Gear and think "oh, that's all they play and it's been out for such a long time. I'd get destroyed," and not think any more of it. Blazblue being the newer game in the series with at least one more game planned to be released means it has potential not only to bring people into MTN, but get people into Guilty Gear as well. Hell, I know *I* wouldn't be considering picking Guilty Gear back up if it weren't for Blazblue. So yeah, for the existing community, I think it'd be a good idea to run Guilty Gear. However, the potential growth for a Guilty Gear community will likely be limited to the release of Accent Core on 360/PS3 (at least until a new one is announced), and whenever someone decides to drop it, it'll likely have a serious impact on its tournament standing (just like Blazblue).
  8. Me. And you can play the PS2 version of Guilty Gear on PS3 if it's one of the old phat 80/40 GB models.
  9. It makes me really sad to hear how little cumulative interest there is in Blazblue nowadays. I feel like I'm finally starting to understand the more refined aspects of the game and I'm still constantly trying to improve, but I don't want to feel like I perform up to my own standards because nobody else gives an eff any more. That said, I've said it before and I'll say it again- I'll play Blazblue until the day it *really* dies. I'm still very interested in it, and I think everyone should at least wait until BB3 comes out before making a decision on dropping the game or not. Extend was just meant to whet the community's appetite before the conclusion, after all. Now, as for interest in other games, I'm hype for a lot of the new ones coming out as well. Under Night looks to be Melty Blood HD, and P4A is understandably reminiscent of BB, so I'm obviously interested in both of them. I'm not gonna lie though- I'm worried about both of their popularity in the states. Very few people know what Melty Blood is, and I can't really see Under Night being a surprise and vastly successful hit. And Persona 4 Arena will attract Arc fans and Persona fans alike, but when the former naturally mop the floor with the latter in the beginning, its scene could die relatively quickly. So even though they both look to be very fun games, if you're like Naimat and want to play games for heavy competition, there might not a thriving crowd for either. I'll give both their fair chance, though. If you're looking to get into something solid you can find other people playing, I'd recommend getting into Skullgirls or KoF (for those who don't have them already). Skullgirls is truly a bargain for what a great fighting game it is, and KoF... Well, I don't think I need to convince anybody to give KoF a shot, or to continue playing it.
  10. For one thing, WRONG. >:/ And for another thing, I kind of already have plans. This'll be the only weekend our LP group can meet in April, so we gotta get shit done. Sorry Paps. :[
  11. This is completely off topic, but talking with Naimat about it got me curious- how many of you ever played Megaman Battle Network for the GBA? I don't think I've clocked as much time into Blazblue as I have that series. Just curious.
  12. Thanks Vocal. Thanks Milln. Thanks Astaroth. I talked with a few people about Tennessee stuffs, but I didn't catch much interest (because of distance issues, I'm sure).
  13. Thanks Volpe. Tad got third, and Naimat tied for fourth I believe. Koopa_Klawz got first place after resetting the bracket and it coming down to 2/2 matches, 1/1 rounds. It was a pretty tense match. And there were 16 people who showed up for Blazblue, mostly people from Ohio. Our BB scene is definitely bigger than theirs.
  14. Huge props to everyone who showed up for BB. I was really happy with the representation of both states and characters. The fact that everyone knew what they were doing just made everything better. Big thanks to everyone who helped organize this, particularly Pope Temmy for putting together BB, and especially to Kyle for setting up housing. You are such a fucking boss, Kyle. @Koopa_Klawz- This might sound ridiculous, but I didn't catch who you were until after the tourney. If I had known who you were before we played/when we were playing, there's no way I would have kept my composure as well as I did. Respect, and great games. I'll take it from you next time. :3
  15. Just got back from Powerup. Gawd, I'm so tired. Managed to get second in BB for those who care. I need SLEEP.
  16. Played a Ranked Match today. Clashed Inferno Divider with some dude for 16 seconds straight. Felt good man.
  17. Lol wtf. You should post that picture here. EDIT: Thanks for posting it Milln. It's hard for you guys to see (I don't know why it uploaded so small), but my avatar is showing up on the Edit Post and Quick Reply button. Trololololol
  18. Oops. Was I supposed to sign up with my handle instead of my real name then? I figured I'd need to fill out my real name for verification purposes.
  19. I really like the combo system in this game. No retardedly hard links like in Street Fighter, but not as simple as A -> B -> C -> D like in Marvel. OTGs make sense and aren't linked to certain moves, but rather how fast you can hit your opponent again once they hit the ground. And as much as I like offensive characters/fighting games, if I'm right in my predictions, Skullgirls is going to compliment aggressive playing styles EXTREMELY well. Resets seem easy and theoretically gimmicky. I was messing around earlier and found that ending the combo in that most recent video with sHK -> Jump -> jLP -> Air Dash -> Air Grab (instead of sHP -> Rekkas -> Ground Super) works as a reset, and probably isn't something you'd expect and be able to tech out of at this point. That said, it would be in your best interest to practice teching grabs in this game. Setting up stuff like that instead of optimizing damage seems more valuable in regards to the combo system for me.
  20. Does that mean I can post another video now~?
  21. You've just been watching Lumin and I's videos too much recently. In all seriousness, some of the best combos and setups I've learned came from combo videos.
