I think there is a version of that move, probably D version, that is unblockable. It's also what led to the 3800 damage combo on tager in the vid I posted. If it is unblockable when charged, then that adds great mix up.

This is definitely going to be a tough match up. Imo, 4-6 Hazama. Carl has trouble catching that feline, so how is he going to catch spider man? Hazama's DP and flash kick super will be the bane of carl. Even when sandwiched he can escape with one of those if your loop isn't air tight, and flash kick super into combo does around 4300 damage IIRC. That's almost half of carl's life. Add that to the fact that he gains meter super fast. Even if your loop is air tight you can trade hits with his DP/super so he might do it just to buy enough time to escape. Volante is practically useless, and Hazama can play safe keep away and pressure with ourobous. If things get rough and he is about to be boxed in by the wall, he can spider sling out. Also, he can bait you into doing an anti air with nirvana by faking a swing, or swinging to land right infront of her, and then swings/IAD in after she is done. That's the thing about Hazama, you don't know when he is going to sling shot or not. I wouldnt advice doing allegretto. If he baits it out then he can do his 2nd DD, the thing that grabs you from the ground, right as you land. The Hazama that fought Dio didn't seem too good, yet he gave her so much trouble. Obviously Dio made mistakes in her matches, but the problem is carl has trouble getting hazama cornered or sandwiching. And even when he's sandwiched his DP and flash kick super can save him. Hazama might win not by KO, but by timeout, that's the problem with this match. It's not that carl can't dominate hazama, it's that carl can't get him, and unlike taokaka, he doesn't have to be close to deal damage, he has a DP, and a DP super. Who knows, when really good hazama's come up this might end up being a 3.5/3 - 6.5/7 matchup. That was all theory fighter btw.

Part 9 Tsubaki vs Tager, 3800 damage using 2 bars I refuse to believe mugen is useless. Charge up to 5 bars, score a knockdown without using bars, activate mugen right before opponent's wakeup, and commence.
-
I like how Tsubaki looks when she's doing her charge cancel combos. It looks like she's stuttering. Hit hit hit stutter high low mid stutter lol, I really like it. You see I'm a stutterer in real life, and I felt a connection with her and understood exactly how she felt when I saw her stuttering. People just don't understand how hard it is for a stutterer, lol. That's exactly what crossed my mind as well. You can a lot of her D versions moves with an overhead/low throw in the mix til you hit confirm and combo into level 5 DD. What I wonder though is how long her mugen last. Is it as long as hakumen's mugen? Shorter? The japanese tsubaki players need to go to training and experiment with it.

I know. Well she's low right now, things might change. I personally don't care if she's low or not. I like her either way.

It's nice to know there are fewer players on the Tsubaki bandwagon. I love her flashy style, and I look forward to adding her as my main along side carl. Everyone in the world is going to be playing hazama. I mean you can only have so many mirrors before your head explodes. Anyway, for those of you that have played around with her, no pun intended lol, how is her mugen like special? I know it is best to have 5 bars fully stocked before activation, but have you guys tried it out yet? I feel like, unlike hakumen, she is going to be really dependent on it, and that right now people are just using meter for combos only. I don't care if it turns out to be useless I'm going to go into it so many times. I love how she turns red and has that naruto kyuubi like chakra aura around her. There is just something about beasting on someone in her mugen that gets me all hot and bothered, lol I kid I kid. Also, if you do her special in mugen mode does it do the level 5 version?

ARE YOU SERIOUSSSSSS . FINALLY!!!!! 10 seconds was too long. I've always wanted to astral someone with carl. I love how his astral is a countdown, it's like you're almost playing God. You put your opponent's life clock in front of their eyes, and you're telling them they only have 5 seconds to live, use it wisely. Did I mention it's also hilarious? They become so frantic trying to push you off the screen or kill you if they can. How wide is the radius? Assuming nirvana is standing in the middle of the screen, does it take up the whole screen? What is the motion for the astral, is it the same as the one in CT? Actually you don't even have to fight. Trying anything could get you DPed, counter hit, FCed, command grabbed, or DDed. It is very easy for carl to push his opponent to the end of one side of the screen. Ending combos with cantabile and advancing with nirvana like a wall should do the trick. Once you get them there, try and advance forward a little bit, about half screen, and activate his astral. Your opponent will come rushing at you for a combo to push you to the other side to escape the vicinty, since they're backed up against the wall. As they approach simply vivace B over to the other side and backdash till your back is against the wall. Assuming it's 5 seconds, by now they have about 3 seconds to escape or kill you. Assuming they can kill you in about 2 hits, and they approach for one last try, don't vivace again cause they might psychic it and IAD backwards and hit you. You can block with barrier assuming you still have it, gold burst or defensive burst to push them away, or if you don't have anything, super jump IAD kara cancel to the other side. By now she has 1 second left, if she already hasn't exploded. That was all theory fighter by the way, but it should work. 10 seconds was too long and impractical in CT. -

I think the clap loop is still possible to some extent. 8D has a slower start up in CS. The thing is in CT it's 2C 8D hold D(jump up and hold up, as you free fall you then) B+C release D etc No matter when they throw break they'll get hit by 8D. Now in CS, since 8D is slower, it most likely might be 2C 8D hold D(jump up and hold up, as you free fall) release D and then B+C. 8D should come out regardless of when they tech. All that changes now is that you release D before grabbing, rather than in CT where you grab then release D. All this ofcourse is just speculation and needs to be tested, but I think it might work. -
Litchi Loop combo. Sorry if old http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UjAstzkD6cQ I don't use Litchi but does that actually work.

I know what you mean. I don't mind if they decreased our usage of nirvana, but they went a bit overboard with it. I mean her most useful move in blockstrings and keeping your opponent from jumping, 6D/8D, can only be done a total of 5 times before she breaks?? Don't they realize that not every move is going to hit your opponent, or that nirvana is going to be used in blockstrings and if she dies in 5 moves and assuming j2c is not an overhead then how do you break someone that blocks low? Even if j.2c is an overhead and assuming you get your opponent in a block string when she is at 100% health then you can only do 6D 5 times and if your opponents blocks j2c/2a repetedly then carl's sandwich pressure game goes out the window. In CT not only could you mix up j2c/2a during blockstrings, but you could do it for a while, so even if they guessed right everytime eventually you'll guard break, but now in CS that's not going to happen. Did Arcsys think that was too much? Also in the vid "carl vs jin", 8D only takes away 95 health, sigh. 8D takes 20% meter and only 95 health. I know this was done because of clap loop/relaunch during throw loop, but c'mon 95 health for 20% meter, lol, that doesn't add up. The carls in japan need to give their suggestions. It's sad that no one who played carl gave arcsys suggestions after the loc test 1 and 2, cause if loc 3 is any indication of what arcsys thinks is right for carl, then he might be unplayable at high level play. I mean did they really think nerfing him after taking away throw loop was the right thing to do? IMO, The projectile is not enough. Carl should be more than just a "camp nirvana in the corner and spam projectile" character. His projectile is going to be so overused and everyone will expect it when nirvana isn't close by. -

soujiro seta replied to Slowpoke's topic in Archive
Correct, I think Arcsys went a bit overboard with him. As you said, they were like his loop is too good, lets take that a way and then some. They didn't realize that the only thing that kept him competitive was his loop. Rather than take that away and buff, they take it away and nerf, lol. Yes his projectile looks good, but after what I've seen I don't know how things will pan out for him. I mean nirvana is our offense and defense and considering that every move takes like 20% of her health she can't do much before she breaks, which means more carl alone time. Hopefully carl alone can handle himself. I just hope he is still fun to play and atleast has a chance against the cast. No one should have to go through what tagers went through in CT. -
HYDROGYN, OMGOMGOMGOMG lol, its me Hawkeye Miihawk, the carl you've been facing all this time. lol, I didn't think you were on dustloop. I'm sorry if I've been giving you so much trouble. Hydrogyn and I have encountered several times. Our match goes like this The round with me outranging/poking him with 5C, at the same time I'm moving nirvana forward by dashing behind her and using 6D. All the while as she is moving forward I'm behind her and trying to outrange/poke him with 5C just incase he thinks he can hurt her. After playing footsies and outranging/poking with 5C he eventually gets into the corner and its tager - nirvana - carl. I then look for an opening and IAD j5C 2A 5A 5B 6B/5C 6D IAD j2C allecan 5B 5C 6D throw loop. The reason why you see me keeping a good distance is because I know tagers range, and I don't want to get magnetized. At times he tries to rush me down but then nirvana is behind him and I just 41236D and start mixup which lead to throw loop. There are times when he has gotten me in the corner and had me for lunch. I play tager very patiently. Trying to rush down tager recklessly can lead to carl's demise very quickly. As much as the match is in carl's favor, he can't afford to mess up cause tager can end it in a few seconds. ggs Hydrogyn I wish I could help you tagers on this one. A patient carl vs tager can be very hard for tager to beat cause any mistake leads to throw loop, and once carl backs tager into the corner it's in carls favor.

Hmm, so technically he can still clap loop, but only for a really short time. 8D takes away 20%, interesting. Im guessing they want us to use 623D as our primary anti air rather than trying to anti air our opponents with a mixture of 623D and 8D. -

Actually tiers aren't pointless, and mean a whole lot. If char B has a 7-3 matchup in his favor against char A, then if they both played a perfect game, so to speak, then B would win 7 games out of 10. The problem with tier list is that it doesn't take into account individual player effectiveness, such as "Did the player controlling character B punish character A when he had the opportunity", "Did player A mess up on his execution", "Was player B a bit too defensive and had he been more offensive would he have won", etc. The tier list is somewhat of a "how hard/good player A has to play in order to beat player B". Yes you have to factor in player effectiveness into every match up, but the punishment carl can give rachel after she makes a mistake vs the punishment rachel can give carl after he makes a mistake is too drastic. Plus, you factor in that it's "carl without throw loop", and things just get worse. -

I edited my post, sorry if you missed it. I didn't mean it was as bad as tager vs nu, but as in it is a similar scenario, the carl has to be better than the rachel, or he has to bring his almost absolute best. If the rachel knows carl's options, and the carl knows rachels options, then the rachel is at an advantage. They both know what to look out for, but rachel is the better character, so the match already starts out in her favor. The problem with rachel vs carl is she can break your guard very very easily, and once that happens half your life is gone. You're gonna have to do something sooner or later, and if you saw the vid I posted, she can chip/kill you from far away. So not only can she make you come to her, up close and personal is still in her favor. Carl having the lowest health, guard libra, and damage output by himself doesn't help either. Also she's moving around the place all the time, and you need nirvana to hit her, but it can be hard if she is keeping an eye on both of you. The matchup is winnable, but can be very difficult, and at times you can almost feel hopeless. -

soujiro seta replied to Alternate275's topic in Archive
The problem though with this matchup is that, as you said, you have to outplay her, but rachel is S tier. Even if you are better than the rachel you're fighting you can still lose simply because of how good rachel is as a character, and not because the person you fought played very well. Carl with the throw loop is A tier, except in the match vs rachel it's "rachel vs carl without the throw loop", who happens to be among tager and hakumen in the tier list. So you have to use such a low tier character, to beat arguably the best character in the game. This is the same with tager vs nu, a great tager can lose to a subpar nu simply because of what nu can do to tager. I see it as one of those, "You hope your opponent makes a huge mistake and doesn't know how to recover matchups", cause if both of you are close in level, and both of you almost play a perfect game, the rachel will still have no problem dismissing you. You have to play miles ahead of the rachel to win, but when you're close in skill and she doesn't mess up, what do you do? I'm not saying this matchup is unwinnable, but we need to remember it's carl without loop vs rachel. There is only so much you can do to her, and if the rachel player is really good, you have to play way better than she does to even have a chance, not to win. Look at this, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LBPtfPDfj9c it feels more like you're navigating an obstacle course of death rather than trying to fight her. -

I was disappointed myself too to find out j.2c is not an overhead, i mean how does having j.2C as an overhead give carl an andvantage in anyway what so ever? Not making it an overhead implies that they probably thought it was too good. 6C is too slow and you can easily get poked out of it and eat a combo. If that change stays, then they need to make 6C much much faster. -
I know I probably sound noobish but did you guys know about the magnatech wheel - rapid cancel - into a 360? 1:05 - 1:10 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rugvx0PuAfM Wow, now I see why a friend of mine got rehabilitated after his experience with the power of science I'm starting to like tager even more now. I didn't really know what he could do, and I loved fighting tagers, lol although they probably wouldn't say the same for me. There's just something about the way people use him that makes me smile

Jesus christ I didn't know tager could do stuff like this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aU25KNcj2-8&feature=related Hmm, I might have to sub him and bang now
