Maybe online play wont be balls. How far do you live from houston?

I actually may have been at that tournament, if I remember correctly it was 156 exactly. My point isn that we wont have a decent scene for XRD, but I want that Capcom level hype for our game. And I just feel like there are two things standing in the way. #1 An american presense by Arcsys(not Aksys) #2 Decent online play. (which I want to believe we will get "playable" online play with XRD.) So in short I am super excited to play XRD. I am going to take a week off for it whenever I find out the launch date, I am hosting a Launch party at my house for all of houston to go to. (Probably Launch weekend not day of.) And I will be streaming from my main setup in my living room. So all of you can see what the week 1 Houston talent is doing! So I am doing everything I can to help bring hype and popularity to XRD. I just wish Arcsys cared about NA or the rest of the world as much as we do! Some would say I should be happy were even getting a port, However I am charging Arcsys with neglect anyway. And I want them to change that. What makes me feel neglected you might ask. Arc's poor attempt at trying to get their game the exposure it deserves! A gamespot interview with a know nothing interviewer? Comon! Its E3 for god sakes, Go Bigger! Lastly after watching some sol vids I cannot wait to play. I sometimes wish I lived in Japan, you guys wont believe me, but I am pretty sure I would be as good if not better than machaboo. Instead the world would be saying, man did you see those R0b0t vids? He beat Ogawa! Wut! I am serious.

I cannot wait, however I am rather jealous of you man, if Evo 2015 host GG Xrd and you were to come over you would probably crush Americans with your Japanese EXP. You have the ultimate GG scene!

If that is true I am really happy with that, I hope Guilty Gear will have the same success if not better. I just remember how Guilty in the past has always been treated like a second class citizen, especially by EVO. I want the game to be popular so it can join the ranks of main games at events like EVO that return year after year. I am just afraid it wont cause Arc wont push the game here.

So I am going to rant about smash, but I get to the popularity/marketing bit in a second. So I get where your coming from, it pisses me off that so many kids are enamored by a game like smash, which I do not consider a fighting game. My girlfriend gets mad when I talk shit about it. But at the same time I know why people like it, you can just pick up a controller and hit buttons and for the most part the game seems easy that way. Sure it has its strategies and high level play. But in all seriousness the game is simple when it comes down to it. But its popularity dwarfs our favorite game, Guilty Gear. Now simplicity is not the only reason, there is decades of Nintendo characters/lore/nostalgia built into smash and that also makes it appealing to people across several generations. But you wanna know why we could of never hoped for any hype for Xrd at E3? Arcsys is not trying hard enough, and I am not even going to begin on why you should not blame aksys. But you should know that this is Arcsys fault, they are not marketing the game here. For whatever reason they are happy just getting whatever sales they can from it and being done with it. When Vanillia Marvel Vs Capcom 3 cameout I remember seeing commercials during NBA games for MvC3. And I am not placing marvels popularity soley on commercials, but capcom at least was putting in work to market their game for North America. Things Arcsys could have done to help GG #1 Not go on gamespot, no one gives a flying fuck about gamespot. Hasbeen website. #2 Get some mainstage time for the game, LIKE NINtendo DID for smash. #3 Get on the twitch.tv Schedule for E3. #4 Market the game in the US, maybe some Twitch.tv Commercials? #5 Give a fuck about the US. In the end I still believe XRD will have a vibrant scene here regardless of the lack of marketing from Arcsys, but without support from companies like Arcsys in NA we cannot expect a whole lot of growth for XRD popularity imo. The GG scene will be a bunch of OGs like myself and some BB/P4A players, and I doubt there will be many if any tournaments that break 200+ entrants for the game EVO standing the only chance of that. Correct me if I am wrong.

Is it purely by chance that the American publisher of Arcsys games has a name closely resembling that of Arcsys? Like what is with Aksys anyway? Someone know the history there?

So I am already planning a houston launch party at my house. But not sure if I am actually going to have it the night of launch or the weekend immediately after. Some believe I should have it the weekend of launch whenever that ends up being. So that players can devlope at least a little before event.

I have been playing wow recently trying to do Arenas, and all I ever think about is when will XRD release so I can stop playing wow.

I plan on taking a week off from work when this game finally drops for console in the US. At the same time it makes me so angry having to wait for it. Makes me want to catch a flight to Japan and spend a couple of weeks there however that is not an economically sound idea. Also if any Houston people end up reading this post I plan on having a Guilty Gear XRD console Launch party when this finally releses for NA. Or JP if I have to import. And ill stream it.

Does anyone have any reason to believe the Netplay on the eventual console release for #XRD will be leaps and bounds better than the previous versions, if so why? Also I have my own ideas as to why it will be better, but I wanted to read some input. I would imagine this would be relevant Theoretical gameplay discussion. If not I am sorry.

It is really just simple numbers, Capcom games are simply more popular. And adding 3 anime games is more overhead than the Evo staff is willing to afford. We are probably lucky they are even considering one Anime Fighter. This year is really not all that interesting to me though. I am just waiting for Guilty Gears reincarnation XRD. I would like to think it will make it into EVOs 2015 lineup. We were robbed of a year with +r because it took them too long to get it on 360 and PS4. Really I should hate arcsys for not coming to America. But I love guilty gear to much to hate them. If I knew Japanese and could do the same job I am doing now, but in Japan, and my GF wanted to live there, I would probably find a way to live there. Haha, just so I can play Guilty Gear on the regular.

I seriously cannot wait for this to hit consoles! If only America had arcades like Japan. But since we do not, consoles! I should of been like ElvenShadow and moved to Japan!

Yes I have talked with the Tournament Organizers and the pot is confirmed.

This thread should get stickied, since Planet Zero is no longer involved, this was a great tournament in the south back in 2005 and I believe it will be revived with original support from the original founders of Texas Showdown, Javi and Chris Chou.

Last question, Since guilty Gear would be a side event does it have to finish within the time frame given? I.E has to be completed on Friday top 8 and all?

It may be stupid for me to ask, but what would it take to get a major tournament like yours to consider making GGXX a featured title?

Sadly Frosty Faustings is too close to the NEC 13 I just attended and thus I am going to have to skip this tournament. Even though I know this is probably the going to be one of the BEST GG tournies of 2012. And even still I do not want to spend the 400$ on airfare to go at the moment, got things to take care of. But I wish I could go.

Where is the cheap air fare, the flights out of houston I saw are 400$
