How differently do you think the community would be if UAT charged venue fees? Would we play to get better or drop going out to do more personal things. In terms of tournaments, we had Haz and Keith. Two completely different viewpoints for tournaments. Haz charged money because he wanted to expand and turn it into a business. Keith only charged to be able to get equipment, but has hosted more free tournaments as of late, with prizes no less. We aren't really as grateful for the hospitality as we should be. Running these things costs money, time, and effort. It can really burn people out. But this is a hobby that should be seen as fun. Skipping out of events because of money constraints shouldn't really be an issue. I've always felt that, at our ages, if we are out of money, we shouldn't be investing into these hobbies. The money is an incentive to get better, but if people aren't looking to get better and spend money, that's why the casuals have always been free. Either way, people should be up to going to places to have fun, even if there is a reasonable expense asked for by the host. Not many people are going to Evo because people don't see a reason to. I'm not planning to win, I'm just planning to have fun with a little vacation time. We all had a great time last year, and even if the venue is smaller and the tournament options are less than optimal, it's still an opportunity to play with new people, hang out, and have fun doing something new.

You can't play it at UAT though. They banned it because the community kept breaking rules.

I've been testing some Frametraps when an opponent air blocks a ground sword. All of the mixups I've tested come out as soon as the opponent lands and hits them on jump startup if they try to jump out. The only thing they can do is properly block it. Obviously, with perfect timing, any sword delayed at the right time can lead to frametraps, but these are by far the easiest to perform. Note that when performing 236DC, the opponent must land on the spawnpoint otherwise they can still jump out. We all have a big problem with dropping games as soon as their next version gets announced, even though sometimes it takes 6-9 months to get released.

You should be able to use room 201 for UAT. I didn't get a reserve but there shouldn't be an issue if you aren't rowdy. I got Room 201 for Keith's tournament next Saturday.

I don't have any reservations for UAT this month. Are there any days anyone would like me to reserve?

Anyone can use a room if it's not reserved. But if security has a problem with anyone, or someone who goes there wants to use the room they can kick you out freely. They're usually cool about it though.
