  1. Have a look at this video. Around the 10:00 mark Carl does 2A 5A on a Litchi blocking low and both attacks connect! Does this mean that his 5A no longer whiffs on crouching Litchi? EDIT: Nevermind. After some testing it seems like it works the same way in CS1. I didn't know the whiffing only occurs when Litchi is not blocking. Could somebody elaborate on the mechanics of that?
  2. My apologies if this was answered in the thread already. I'm on the fence about buying this game, mostly because I don't want to watch my life seep away due to investing an ungodly amount of hours into another fighting game. Hence my question: how hard is it to pick up MvC3 and play it at a decent level, compared to BBCS?
  3. Ever since they made the move slower and extended Carl's 5C hitbox in CS, this move trades more often than not. Just look at that hitbox. Am I missing something here?
  4. Akira-Shiro: I personally bump into a lot more Carl players than, say, Taokaka, Arakune, and Rachel when I play online. Even Litchi seems to be a pretty rare creature despite her tier ranking. That said, according to the online statistics, Carl is indeed the least played character -- last I checked, even wheelchair Rachel had about twice as many players.
  5. Carl Clover. Cookies.
  6. One of the earlier CS2 videos showed that Hakumen's 5A is air-unblockable. Eep! On topic: I'm mostly worried that these changes will just homogenize the cast more and Carl won't be as much fun. The unique play style of controlling not one but two characters simultaneously is what drew me to the Clover siblings in the first place; I'm definitely not liking the direction of having to rely on solo Carl a lot (regardless of whether or not he'd be viable on his own). Like the rest of you, I'm still cautiously optimistic and hoping for new discoveries that will put Mr. Tophat in a better spot.
  7. I've done comics before, but nothing recent. If you were asking if I'm planning to do any BlazBlue-related comics... Probably not -- I'm wasting too much time drawing so much fan art already!
  8. I absolutely adore your cute style. Everything looks so squishable -- a Land of Wonderment and Joy indeed!
  9. I read it as "the first hit of 8D" (since, depending on the spacing, the move is 2 hits -- the clap itself and the shockwave). As entertaining as these location test ups and downs were, I'm really looking forward to getting some solid and final information regarding all the character changes next week!
  10. Yeah, it seems like our online times never overlap anymore because I'm such a night owl. That sounds like a plan!
  11. I'd love to, but my connection is only mediocre at best even to fellow Europeans (I'm happy when I get an orange/2-bar ping), so that may indeed be a bad idea...
  12. Thank you very much for the kind words, everybody! I hope to come back here with new content semi-regularly, which will probably translate to no more than once per month... The problem is that every hour of drawing fan art is free time I could instead be spending on actually playing the game! Maybe I can just post some quick doodles as filler material now and then. We'll see.
  13. I've got quite a few images mapped out already, but don't hesitate to share any interesting ideas you have -- I might just end up drawing it. The ideas floating around in my head right now include: The NOL girls having a day off Team Vigilante (Bang, Carl, and Taokaka) Crossover: Noel meets Bridget Platinum on her sparkly pony Tea party with Rachel and Valkenhayn Please keep in mind that this is not a request thread. I'm only looking for ideas that would make for an interesting illustration (e.g. character interaction or something that tells a little story and gives some insight in the character's personality). I definitely don't care for characters just standing around, looking pretty.
  14. 「KITTY LITTER」 Tao is Taokaka! I love the character designs of the Kaka Clan, especially the kittens. Only the Japanese could make a black ball with two dots for eyes and lots of teeth look so cute.
  15. 「CAT GOT YOUR TONGUE?」 I've posted this image before, but since it's buried deep in the old fan art thread, I decided to include it in here. Carl and Kokonoe are my two favorite characters in the BlazBlue setting (though Platinum is a real contender), so it seems only natural I would draw them first. Last time it spawned a Carl x Kokonoe discussion -- even if that concept was not my intent, I'm proud (?) to say this is most likely the only illustration of that particular pairing in existence.
  16. Greetings Dustloop, My name is Niko Geyer, and I'm a freelance illustrator from Germany. I'm also a long-time lurker (and occasional poster) here on Dustloop. BlazBlue has been one of my favorite games ever since the US release of Calamity Trigger, and even though I don't have nearly enough time between work and honing my button mashing skills, I want to start expressing some of that love with fan art. This thread is intended to collect my BlazBlue (and maybe Guilty Gear) related works in one handy spot for my fellow ASW enthusiasts. I'll be updating sporadically as I draw new pictures. __________________________________________________ 「THE ROAD TO HOPE」 05/10/12 __________________________________________________ 「KITTY LITTER」 11/30/10 __________________________________________________ 「CAT GOT YOUR TONGUE?」 06/26/10 __________________________________________________ There's more artwork on my blog at www.nikogeyer.com. 17. Wait. Laetabilis Cantata is Carl's spinning gear special and has nothing to do with Nirvana's gauge. Do you mean Rhapsody of Memories?
  18. What's the timing on getting a green throw before the second hit of 4D? I managed to get this accidentally in an actual match about a month ago, but haven't been able to replicate it since...
  19. Keep in mind that the game system was changed somewhat drastically, and most of the other characters were also nerfed in terms of raw damage output. Applied to our knowledge of the current game, some of these patch notes might hit Carl pretty hard, but in the scope of BBCS2 as a whole, I don't think so. As a matter of fact, it's quite possible that Carl might end up even better than he is now if the gameplay will indeed be focused on shorter, less damaging combos overall, considering how strong he is at resets (and the new 3D properties will only improve that). I'm really stoked for that update!
  20. If ASW keeps that Con Fuoco change in the final build, doesn't that mean it can be used like a much more effective Volante during blockstrings? Whenever somebody jumps over Nirvana at Carl, input 41236D and block -- they will get hit out of their rushdown and you can go straight into sandwich resets. If the drill comes out even when Carl is hit, wouldn't that actually be way too strong a defensive option in the aforementioned situation? While I would certainly welcome this change, I'm a bit baffled they put that in only during the last location test, since it seems like such a major buff to me.
  21. Instead of taking the nerfs and applying them to your knowledge of how the game currently works, look at the bigger picture. There's a lot changes for the whole cast, and even some potentially huge system alterations by the looks of it. Within the scope of this new gameplay, all might yet be OK for your character.
  22. Litchi is really good at baiting and/or punishing Vivace though. It's very risky, and I find myself resorting to counter assault instead when I'm stuck in the corner. Even if Vivace works, at best we get out of pressure, whereas Litchi scores a free combo (into corner oki) off of her more reliable DP. I find the proposition that Carl's sandwich pressure = Litchi's corner pressure in this matchup to be preposterous.
  23. On top of that, Litchi's crouching hitbox makes his 5A whiff, and she has a 3F jump to get out of pressure even easier... Yeah, Litchi's corner pressure is totally comparable to the threat Carl's sandwich loops pose to her.
  24. The sad thing is that (according to the online statistics on PSN) even the currently crippled Rachel still has twice as many players as Carl does. I wonder what would happen if ASW hit him with the nerf bat as badly as they did Ms. Alucard.
  25. I'm back for more advice, because the matchup is still giving me hell. It's an uphill battle getting close to Hakumen. But what's your best option once you manage to get him sandwiched? Specifically, what kind of resets should I use? The Hakumens I play on a regular basis have gotten very good at blocking high/low mixups; 2D beats j.2C crossup; even throw shenanigans (green throw after 2A or Volante) aren't working anymore. Maybe I'm being too predictable, but it seems like an awfully risky guessing game no matter what you're doing, and not necessarily one in Carl's favor. Should I just go straight into knockdown > 2D loop whenever possible?
