Dengeki Bunko FIGHTING CLIMAX IGNITION Gameplay Discussion Thread
Tigre replied to Setsuna's topic in Misc Fighter Central
Hard copies are nice, and I tend to pick them up, down the road, but definitely- for an event organizer it's such a wonderful thing to have almost every game as day one digital. Especially with last gen hardware hitting the cheaper price points they're at (ps3s are still notably more expensive than 360s) The biggest hitch with running events at this point is monitors. Not only do you have to be careful with what monitors are used for lag, but they tend to be more expensive. LCDs are also not nearly as robust as crts ;; -

Please keep intentionally leaving that out. Personally, digital works much better for me for events, having everything on my HDD means less for me to walk around with, and less for me to potentially lose. -
You pretty much summed up the biggest piece of advice in your last sentence. Jump canceling the normals to either create enough space to make them feel comfortable to press a button to hit them, or to continue pressure is your best option. keep in mind speed homing is much less safe now. As far as getting hit out of everything, vary the timings, the angle and distance of your speed homing. Also try hitting buttons earlier in your homing pressure. j.B and j.E are two you're going to want to learn perfectly for timing.

without seeing what you're doing it's hard to give specific advice. What I can say is the big thing I see a lot of new players (or players who don't know a matchup) do is try to mash or counter poke out of every block string. This game is all about blocking, like mentioned above. Your location says you're in Philly, if you want to get games in offline and get advice/experience definitely feel free to check out the Philly thread in the Match Finder subforum, we'd be more than happy to help you!

Q&A about Joystick Building, Parts, and Purchasing
Tigre replied to mr.mortified's topic in Hardware
Sounds like the lever/microswitches are worn. If you got four years out of a JLF (The joystick in the arcade stick) that's actually very impressive. You can buy a drop in replacement from a number of sites, like these examples. http://fgc.paradisearcadeshop.com/sanwa-joysticks/695-sanwa-jlf-tp-8yt-joystick.html, http://www.focusattack.com/sanwa-jlf-tp-8yt-joystick/, https://www.akishop.jp/joysticks/36-jlf-tp-8yt-sk.html## In order to replace it you'll need a hex wrench (use the right size, if it's too small it will probably strip the head and you'll be sad), a philips head screwdriver to remove the JLF, and a flat head to remove the balltop, reverse and then you're good to go. Be warned that the harness that madcatz supplies can fit two ways, so if it's not working the first way flip it and you'll be good. -

Do we have any news articles confirming a digital release and price? -
I want to get games in, yes.
-
I would also like to add that the American community, from what I'm told, reached out to publishers to let them know to not bother localizing the SAH2 port because of the technical issues lol
-
woah there champ we normally don't plan stuff until later in the week! (Yeah, I'm up for games.)

LM introduces a few interesting things with Heart in the corner. Firstly you can use Ribbon Beam in your ground loop after the first Tekken Punch to make the air portion more stable (You get pushed further into the corner, and have more time to hit 6C. Easiest of the meterless options.) The downside is that it shaves off a bit of damage for the total combo because of scaling. For enders you will mostly see j.E or DP Follow-up. Means the corner is where it's the most dangerous because you can pull a quick L/R with good spacing above them. As far as corner combo, I just sorta wing it I'm not going to lie, you're probably going to get more optimized damage from watching videos. Which leads us to the sad part. Heart isn't the most popular character. The best two Hearts are going to be Gotou and Momiji. Gotou is the player that I prefer to watch, because it's much easier to read what he's doing. Momiji isn't a slouch though, and is possibly the better Heart player. He's just reckless at times. From what I've seen combo theory really hasn't changed too much from earlier match vids, You could try poking through the JP BBS (http://jbbs.shitaraba.net/bbs/read.cgi/game/33739/1380802654/l50) and see if there's any info there. Or the JP wiki (http://www29.atwiki.jp/arcanaheart3/pages/346.html) Also, I would take the vanilla AH3 wiki with a grain of salt. a lot of things have changed with heart with combos. (The ah3lm page also has pretty okay descriptions for her stuff, outside of combos)

I still fail to see how this is anyone getting shafted. The arcade release was announced to be in development, for all we know it could come out four months from now, like what happened with ah3lm. If you imported AH3LM you've had it since April. potentially pushing the release of SS to almost a year after the first console release of LM. By the time the console port of SS is relevant, the consume will have had more than enough time with the current version. (This is coming from someone who absolutely loved how much time they had with a lone version of a game [vanilla]) Tomorrow I'll make a tweet or something to try and get more input on the idea of how the community feels on crowd funding, may as well gauge interest with the immediate community first.
-
I think the concern was more-so that they didn't believe that DB would gain the traction it needed via crowd funding. I don't believe it could hurt to at least open a conversation with them about the possibility of this for AH4.
-
What is there to be offended about so far with the new version? How are you being shafted? I'm getting really sick of this mentality. Arcsys releases a (near) yearly BB balance patch for full price with DLC characters and everyone is happy (And I think that's a valid business model), Examu will be putting out it's third update to AH3 since 2009 (We can say 2010 if you really want to be a stick in the mud) and all of the sudden we're getting shafted? We don't know what their plans are for a console release. We don't know if it will be a full price release. We don't know what balance changes or system changes there will be to the game. (System mechanic changes can make the game play like an entirely different beast.) All we know is we're getting one new character and arcana. We will have 24 characters. I think that's more than enough characters. If the game comes out and not much has changed? Sure, I think it'll be fine to be underwhelmed or disappointed. As of right now? I don't think we know enough about the end product to even be remotely upset. If we look at other companies in the arcade business (i.e. Capcom, ASW) that are doing okay- the first thing you'll notice is the rate at which they turn out new content. Capcom has consistantly put out new versions, characters and costumes for SFIV. ASW has put out new versions and characters for their arcade games too. Maybe this release will help Examu gain some of the funds that they admitted at Examu Cup they didn't have to start development of AH4. I would absolutely love a brand new game, but I'm willing to see what the end product of SixStarS is before I pull any real judgement on it. Which brings me to a much more interesting idea that I've been thinking about. Maybe we could reach out to Examu to see if they would be interested in attempting to crowdfund AH4? They've stated on twitter that they weighed up the option to crowdfund a port of Daemon Bride, but decided against it, so they must be at least somewhat familiar with the concept. Skullgirls pulled in quite a good amount through crowdfunding, so maybe this idea isn't that crazy.

I've mulled this over for the last two weeks or so actually. Adding an extra column wouldn't fix anything cause we have all this data that may not be editable by the original authors
-
I'm gonna say 2PM to give me time to finish up some school stuff. There's one caveat tho, the second store is apparently borrowing all but one of our monitors for tomorrow, so if people could bring an extra monitor or two that'd be a huge help (I will be bringing mine, so at worst we'll have two)

oh, right we have one of these threads here Got everything sorted with my Panzer. Fantastic case to work with, Jasen was (and has continued to be!) a fantastic guy to work with. Art by woof, who was also awesome to work with! Ignore the missing Ethernet cable, I took it out to cut it to a better length.

Oh wow, I forgot Youmacon was this time of year somehow. Funds do not allow me to make it, especially with a week to prep
-
Okay who wants to play games this Saturday?
-
I don't really have much to add except I agree with Amadeous. I appreciate how he worded it too.
-
Parace isn't a playable character but she does have in game sprites.

date conflicts come up, it's sorta a fact of life in this community. The best thing you can do is approach the community with a tentative date and make sure it doesn't conflict with anything existing before setting something in stone
-
You picked a very unfortunate date, iora is trying to pull people to his place on the same day haha. The best thing to do is just put it out there, through whatever social media you have access too and make sure the community knows, pretty standard stuff lol
-
School isn't real life. Real life is things like oppai, and thigh highs. School work is horseshit.

I have a metric ass load of school work to do tomorrow I'm sorry guys I feel like I've been dropping the ball this semester with running stuff

By bell I'm referring to Bellreisa, the administrator of Mizuumi which is who you should have emailed.
