Frigid, I assume you won't host either day this weekend?
If not, like I said, I'm hosting friday and saturday, 2:30-8:30. Please post if you haven't already regarding if you can attend either.
BE THERE AND BE HYPE.
Ronin, Jet, Cheebz, I'm going to play Chipp instead of Venom. Back to the first character I really played in a fighting game. I just hated venom's normals. Chipp's normals are comfy, and having his rekka and teleport makes me feel right at home.
..question, though. Why can't many(all?) of his normals special cancel into his projectile when they special cancel into other stuff? The only other time I can remember a character having moves that are special cancellable but have an exception for something is tager with certain moves and 360, so that he doesn't just have this huge pointless purple throw window.
Also, I found something strange..so I did a combo, c.s 5.s(far) 2s 5h 236s 236s RC dash c.s 5.s 2s 5h 236s 236s. No idea if it's optimal or anything, but it's certainly flashy and decent and I noticed something strange about it: I training-recorded myself doing the combo and then had the game play the combo back..and often, the last 236s 236s wouldn't connect, especially if I was closer to the corner! So strange... Pushback..variation....???
The blocking thing made me think..I want blocking practice. I could tell someone like supaa to prepare a bunch of blockstring ideas ahead of time. He comes to the meetup, after some matches, I sit there and block and let him do all his mixup.
1)Attacker gets to get some good blockstrings in muscle memory instead of going for the same old thing that sometimes lands and is all the person remembers when they get to attack.
2)Defender gets to become familiar with the ways that the enemy's blockstring can very, and improves their defensive reactions.
3)Attacker gets to learn how to hit confirm better.
4)Defender, more comfortable with blocking, becomes more aware and exploitive of options like counterassault, IBing, etc.
Anyone interested in doing some of this at meetups?
Ah, yeah, I definitely fit the "know crap" part about this game.
plat must defeat shen long
dad stop!!!
1)it's day..5? now. Hazama took some time for people to get used to him at all, let alone figure out his combos well and have decent abare.
2)I totally disagree. Shadow shows she has great potential. Her corner damage is great, she carries to corner well, and she has a lot more legit tools for mixup etc than Tsubaki and Noel in CS1 did. Almost all of her items look great. The bombs look like they're great if used correctly to get in, cat missiles(especially with that vertical stagger) are fantastic for zoning/pressure/getting in, fan helps her comboability a ton, catstick is just insane speed and reach and mixup even if it doesnt lead into combos, and while I dunno how hammer on ground, the crossup it gives is godlike. It takes two fucking primers! AN AMBIGUOUS CROSSUP THAT TAKES TWO PRIMERS. That is a big deal in CS2. Lastly, bat gives her a sick reversal.
That little thing she can float on to do a quick j.a which will combo into ground stuff, or feint and go for a low, is fast and godlike by itself, and her dashing command grab is legit as fuck, definitely fast enough.
3)Tsubaki didn't have her mixup, strength in neutral situations, approach, flexibility, and tsubaki had to fucking sacrifice pressure to have damage and decent options. Noel is more of a complex specimen to compare to, but yeah.
Anyway, platina will be fine at the very least. Even if she ends up low tier(and it looks like everybody is stronger than CS1 tsubaki/noel, so "low tier" doesn't mean too much..), if Bang does as well, you and I can be low tier heroes and blow everyone the fuck up. Bet on it.
Also, interesting video for those somewhat familiar with Starcraft 2:
