LiveWireX Posted December 25, 2014 Posted December 25, 2014 According to Death Battle, Superman is :V Well, I don't want to get super into it, but when you have to pretty much show one character at their weakest (since original Superman could destroy solar systems by sneezing, and was always getting new powers randomly made up), versus one character at their absolute strongest to make it seem more fair...yeah. If you want to look at stuff to compare this to, you're probably better off looking at fights like: Taokaka vs Felicia, Orchid vs Ivy, Shao Kahn vs M.Bison, Ryu vs Scorpion, or Sektor vs Fulgore since those are all fights involving 2 people from different fighting games.

Ragna vs. Sol will probably be similar; how long before Ragna drains Sol of his life. Either Ragna gets his ass handed to him quickly by Sol, or Ragna wins because every Soul Eater attacks stacks.

Sol's Soul is protected in GG2 so I think he'd be resiliant to Soul Eater IIRC, I mean he even fights with his soul as a giant "Master Ghost" outside of his body.

LiveWireX Posted December 25, 2014 Posted December 25, 2014 To be fair, that's a similar reason as to why they did Ryu vs Scorpion, as (while Ryu vs Liu Kang probably would've made more sense) Ryu and Scorpion are the two most iconic characters from the two most iconic fighting game series from back in the day. Similar to how M.Bison vs Shao Kahn was the "big bag" from each of those (even though that was actually kinda one sided). Orchid vs Ivy was hilariously about boobs as the first idea, and....I don't know what the reason for Fulgore vs Sektor was other than to get Fulgore another robot to fight (though even then Boomstick apparently said it should've been Cyrax instead). Chun Li vs Mai Shiranui early on was about stuff like the 2 main female fighters from the two series (I guess?) fighting. Some of the battles Death Battle does now appear to be what's the most requested fight, which is why some matchups seem a bit odd, or like they fall into "we want to put person X into a Death Battle, but who can we have them face?".

Remius Posted December 25, 2014 Posted December 25, 2014 I dont know TOO much about guilty gear, but it feels like the scale of power they're commonly playing with is much higher in the BB universe, and Blood Kain/Idea Ragna seems to thoroughly steamroll pretty much every enemy. How strong is full gear Sol? We talking Black Beast level, Susonoo 100% level, Hakumen/Blood Kain level, or Rachel Alucard / Yuuki Terumi level?

We don't know 100% Sol, we don't know Ragna with full Azure on (Other than that one ending where he becomes a lump of immobile flesh) The best that they've been shown to do should be what's used. Otherwise we get into the whole weird powerscaling multipliers that DBZ gets which isn't useful at all when no feats support it.

He's pretty consistent and like any other person his powers just grew. He does have a few weaknesses and one of them is his personality. Superman's power level depends on who writes him or what version. Not sure how DB is going to put that into account though lol. Oh and I'm also a GG and BB fan but I prefer GG because I like the relationships in that better. Plus KyxDizzy.

Sol sandbags and rarely loses plus his gear form can and will destroy everything if the headband is taken off. ragna on the otherhand gets his ass kicked in every iteration of BB when he fights at his strongest aka using blood kain only izanami made the black beast inside him go berserk at the end of CP.

Unlimited Ragna isn't a bonus, it actually happens in the story when Ragna activates the idea engine. Same thing can be said about Jin, Hakumen, Hazama, Rachel, Arakune (When he eats the Azure Grimoire), Nu 13, Mu 12, and others in selective situations.

Its just a imitation, but its still the closest thing we have to the point that the characters in the series still refers to it as the Azure Grimoire, especially since Ragna got the idea engine to go with it.

Hazama's is also a counterfeit, Mu...I dunno, I know she's the "Eye of the Azure" but I don't think it was said that she has the true Azure, she can just access it without a Grimoire. The "true" Azure Grimoire is apparently being made by Izanami with Takemikazuchi as it's core as of the CP ending.
