D.R.F. Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 perhaps the funniest video they made so far, actually. So when I watch this, does that mean I should be laughing at the results?
NeoStrayCat Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 So when I watch this, does that mean I should be laughing at the results? Yeah, well, that, and not taking this battle really seriously and enjoy it, people will still complain at the results and be salty about it.
LiveWireX Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 Yeah, it's true. People have been going crazy over the results of Death Battle matches since they did Starscream vs Rainbow Dash.
Clousephinat Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 Didn't Sol continue to live after he killed his past self effectively defeating the space time continuum or am I loosing my mind? Â Sol wasn't aware about it according to Xrd, so is not canon.
Tsuki Garyuu Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 Yeah, it's true. People have been going crazy over the results of Death Battle matches since they did Starscream vs Rainbow Dash. Â Â Wait, that's where it started? That was too way purposely absurd to be taken seriously. Â Also, yes. The past-self fight between Sol and Order Sol is not canon. 99% of XX is not canon, not to the current timeline.
BlackYakuzu94 Posted January 3, 2015 Author Posted January 3, 2015 I would just like to announce that it is 6 Days, 144 Hours, 8640 Minutes, and 518400 seconds until Ragna dies. Â Â And yes, I am going to do this every day until next Friday.
LiveWireX Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 Of course, the fun fact is that with Screwattack's new schedule thing for 2014 that's starting tomorrow being in place soon, Death Battle stuff is scheduled to be on Wednesdays from now on so you might just be cut off midway through.
BlackYakuzu94 Posted January 3, 2015 Author Posted January 3, 2015 So someone decided to do a pretty decent write up for the two, just to give a Ragna a chance, since nobody else seems willing to even entertain the idea of him winning:     I know this is going to sound crazy, but hear me out.Just, okay? Hear me out.Alright, don't blow up.Ragna has a chance. Let's think about this rationally before jumping to "Sol Wins."Potential spoilers ahead.Abilities: Ragna VS SolRagna the BloodedgeRagna is a skilled combatant, trained in the art of fighting by none other than Jubei, one of the legendary six heroes, and one of the most canonically powerful creatures in the Blazblue universe. He's determined, and doesn't let anything(and I do mean anything) hold him back. His biggest asset is his unpredictable recklessness, as well as his sheer will. He wields the Azure Grimoire, a mass of concentrated Seithr that allows him to tap into the power of the Azure, the true force of the Boundary, which can be simplified as Bioenergy, or as it is heavily implied, Souls. This lets him accomplish a great many things, such as double his attack power, create magical glyphs to restrain enemies, granting superhuman speed and agility, and allowing him to manipulate the shape of his arm to become anything from large blades, to mouths, fangs, and claws, to even replicating bits of the Black Beast itself. If Ragna falls into a Cauldron, or unleashes too much power from the Azure Grimoire, it is stated that Ragna could(and in many timelines, has) become the Black Beast itself. He is able to enter a state called Blood Kain, where he deals increased damage, but it slowly drains his life force. So if he doesn't keep up his onslaught, it will eventually weaken him. When combined with the Idea Engine, merged into him after the sacrifice of Nu-13, he can access the True Azure with his grimoire, allowing him to use his Blood Kain without harming himself, as well as increasing his power even further.Ragna is also partially a vampire after being bitten by Rachel Alucard, this allots him some natural regeneration capability, in addition to the healing granted by the Azure Grimoire, and the blood-scythe. His fighting style in the games is very much built around rush-down tactics, like Sol. Ragna is trained in combat with swords, favoring his blood-scythe, and capable of understanding and utilizing magic.Sol BadguySol Badguy started out life as Frederick, a human and Magical Particle physicist. He is the prototype Gear**, and as such, is immune to the gear-commanding properties of Commander Gears. He wears a headband that suppresses his inner Gear nature, and prevents him from losing control and rationality. It acts as a limiter upon his power, and as it begins to malfunction, he grows stronger. Sol is also the creator of the Jinki(God-Weapons) that form a supreme anti-gear weapon called Outrage. His sword, Fuuenken, is one of these Jinki. Sol never received any training for combat, but he is known to strike with absolute precision. He has no recognizable fighting style, but uses raw speed and strength to overpower his enemies. As a Gear, Sol is built for evolution. Gears are genetically altered, using animal and plant DNA to enhance that of normal humans. They are implied to use magic by instinct, and Sol is no exception. Being a Gear, Sol has enhanced regeneration, longevity, and even adapting to their environment to suit their needs. Sol is only capable of Fire magic, as it was his elemental affinity as a human. As he begins to get more and more desperate, Sol can let some of his limiters loose, and begin to transform. When he takes off the Headband, he can turn into a draconic creature, with his blade wrapped in infernal flames in the shape of a sword, allowing him to go toe to toe with a big bad of their universe, That Man. However, it is implied that he was holding back in that form, so he could potentially be even stronger should he let loose entirely. Both characters are played in an aggressive Rushdown style, built around striking fast and hard in unrelenting blows. Both characters feature regeneration, Sol due to his natural Gear physiology, and Ragna in the form of a vampiric healing factor, and stealing the life energy from others with Blood Scythe. Both characters can manipulate portions of themselves to reflect an inner, monstrous nature, Ragna with the Black Beast, and Sol with his Draconic form.WeaponsBlood-Scythe VS Fireseal(Fuuenken)Blood-ScytheIn its sealed form, it's a sword that devours the opponent's soul on contact. It can be awakened, however, to become a scythe whose blade is made out of Seithr*. It is a large blade even in its sealed form, and can deliver a lot of force in a single blow. Using his Azure Grimoire, Ragna can cloak the blade in darkness, resulting in even more damage, power, and life-draining properties. It is a large blade that is slow to swing, but momentum is difficult to stop once he has it, and he wields it with little effort.Fuuenken /Junkyard dogA blade that Sol himself created, Fuuenken, or Fireseal. It has a blunt, rectangular blade, and allows him to put much force behind it in single blows. It also allows him to use his fire abilities more potently, and even generates flames itself, usually in the form of projectiles. Eventually, Sol upgraded his Fuuenken into the Junkyard Dog MKIII, which is a bigger sword, with a gun that uses ammunition, but retains the magical properties of the Fuuenken inside. Both blades are large and more blunt, built for strong strikes rather than precision attacks. Ragna's is large enough that he's used it as a shield on many occasions, as well as providing him sustenance in battle by devouring the enemy's soul. Since Sol started off as Frederick, a human, it's safe to assume(unless someone brings forth another source stating otherwise) that Sol still has a soul. Ragna can strike harder, but Sol has the advantage of speed and range in the form of projectiles. MagicBoth of these combatants come from a world where magic is not only present, but thrives. In Guilty Gear, Magic isn't truly explained, but everyone has an elemental affinity when they are born. Humans can only have one form of magic, while Gears have exhibited the ability to use multiple, though Sol is limited to fire, he is inherently magical in nature due to being a Gear. In Blazblue, Magic isn't directly used by more than a handful of characters. But rather, Armagus are designed, weapons that use Seithr in the air as power to replicate magic. Seithr is used to power magic-users in the Blazblue universe, but is inherently poisonous to humans in large amounts. The effect that this may have on Sol is unknown. Ragna is a known user of Armagus, and his Grimoire is used to channel the Seithr into magical spells, albeit somewhat indirectly.Sol is known to use fire magic, amplified by his Fuuenken. He mostly uses it to ignite his sword, or to spit fireballs at his enemies, as well as use ground-based fire attacks.Ragna is trained in the use of Armagus to cloak himself, as well as versed in their destruction, able to take out Librarium members with ease.PersonalitySol is sullen, and unrefined. He does not speak to others unless absolutely necessary. When he does, he's rude, he's crass, and he's not very nice as a whole. He's very rude and very impatient, and known to be very stubborn. He mocks those who speak of justice, but has a sense of righteousness after the Crusades. He does, however have a soft spot for innocence and kindness. He's been shown to be compassionate, but still very gruff. He can be a nice guy, but ultimately tends to prefer working alone.Ragna is much more outgoing than Sol, and can even be pleasant, as long as you're not annoying. He gets angry very easily, and is known to charge in recklessly without a plan. He is almost constantly swearing. Unlike Sol, he's a little more open about his kindness, but usually away from others. He'll even give a kind word to a downed friend, and fight in the stead of an innocent. Although he tends to leave people to their own devices if he thinks they can handle it. But when he's got his sights set, he doesn't let anything get in his way. You're either with him, or against him.So, in the end, it's a much more even matchup than everyone is making it out to be, I feel. Two characters with extremely similar movesets and capabilities, with different training, both from universes based on the real world, but with magic. And while they both use timelines in their games, Sol having strange different(but plausible) endings, and Ragna reliving the same scenarios over and over and over again, I think it's safe to take things at face value here.
TPPR10 Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 To be honest, I do want Ragna to win, and I do think that with Soul Eater (something which psychical defence wouldn't matter since it directly chips at person's soul, which also heals Ragna up) and his inability to accept death (he has consistently survived having a giant sword rammed into him, falling into the Boundary to the past, where Azure Grimoire doesn't work), Ragna wouldn't be completely curbed by Sol. I am just not putting my hopes up for the possibility for Ragna winning, no matter how much I want that.
Lucalibur Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 If Sol for some reason loses, he can just willpower himself back to life again.
BlackYakuzu94 Posted January 3, 2015 Author Posted January 3, 2015 I want Ragna to win too honestly and while Ragna is certainly disadvantaged, i don't believe is as one sided as everyone thinks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Layer Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 Wait, what? How is that even a thing? Â Â I think ShadowDraygon's explanation is the most logical one. Â
Arcus Diabolus Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 If Ragna wins, I will be happier than a pig in shit. If Sol wins, as long as the facts are straight, the battle is good and overall the death battle is well done, I will be satisfied.  Its pretty safe to assume everyone here is rooting for Ragna, if only because he's the lovable underdog here.   Although, as a side conversation, since we're talking about Ragna possibly winning because he would be doing damage to Sol's soul directly, what would that mean for Hazama if he were to fight Sol? He also has a Azure Grimoire like Ragna, and his Ouroboros has been stated in "Help me, Miss Litchi" to attack the soul directly as well.Â
Narroo Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 You know, the reason why Nu couldn't kill Ragna with the giant sword was because they were "life-linked." Is that still true? If Ragna is still linked up with Nu, wouldn't that effectively make him immortal as long as Sol doesn't find Nu? Sure, he could still be "Defeated," but not killed.

Koopa_Klawz Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 About the whole "Ragna turning into the Black Beast", didn't he need to fuse with Nu-13 first to become the Black Beast that nearly destroyed the world?
heavymetalmixer Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 About the whole "Ragna turning into the Black Beast", didn't he need to fuse with Nu-13 first to become the Black Beast that nearly destroyed the world? Â Into a "complete Black Beast". He can become an "incomplete Black Beast" on his own, as his bad ending in Continuum Shift shows us (loose the fight against Rachel, and he looses the control over the Azure Grimoire).

He can become an "incomplete Black Beast" on his own, as his bad ending in Continuum Shift shows us (loose the fight against Rachel, and he looses the control over the Azure Grimoire). Its worth noting that this incomplete Black Beast is still strong enough to cause world wide destruction even in a world now filled with Ars Armagus, which was initially made to combat the complete form. Granted, according to Jubei, it wouldn't last nearly as long, but it was still a huge threat.Â

Lucalibur Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 I don't think most people in here are actually aware of how ridiculously OP Sol is.
BlackYakuzu94 Posted January 3, 2015 Author Posted January 3, 2015 I don't think most people in here are actually aware of how ridiculously OP Sol is. Â I think everyone is perfectly aware of how OP he is considering how we've gone on about it, can we at least root for Ragna :V
D.R.F. Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 I think everyone is perfectly aware of how OP he is considering how we've gone on about it, can we at least root for Ragna :V No
LiveWireX Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Considering I think someone said if Sol takes off his headband he can essentially one-shot all of Earth and time (or something like that) without breaking a sweat, I'd say that's a pretty clear picture on his strength.
RifleAvenger Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Don't a lot of victory quotes vs. Sol indicate that he's willing to throw fights he'd rather not waste time on (ex. Ky getting salty that Sol is still sandbagging him)? Ragna could "win" if Sol gets bored and walks off.
