Wasn't bad or anything but it wasn't any special; Sol and Ragna trade hits, they both go ''One Winged Angel'' and Sol kills the black beast. Fin. Though it's possible I only feel this way because it was literally EXACTLY what I expected.

There's effortlessly and then there's that. I think Ragna put up a better fight before he transformed, even if he was still clearly outclassed.

danceljoy Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 I don't know much about BB but I can see some BB fans pissed with some missing info/facts wrong but DB's GG story has also has mistakes and missing points as well. That Man didn't plan the Valentine attack, neither is the rebellion of the Gears his idea. It was all Justice and Mother's decisions. That Man is like an observer that tries to save the world through weird and mysterious means rather than an instigator of doom. In terms of fighting ability they neglected to mention how powerful Justice really is and how it's such a feat that Sol defeated her. -edit- I wonder how much info they got from the GG wiki, it's missing around half of it's ideal content and gets updated at a much slower rate than BB due to the lack of translated materials, few contributors and inactive admins like me who have no copy of Xrd

According to fan readings Kliff Undersn, who at his peak was a rival to Justice, took days to neutralize Hydra - which Sol defeated. is the novel considered canon by aksys though?

If anything, I'm a tad annoyed about hearing alot of bashing on BB's story, which I think is awesome. When I advertise this game to people, I usually sell it as the fighting game with a great and incredibly in depth story, and I mean it. That said, this topic only really came up because DB kinda dumbed down BB like Blackyakuzu94 already mentioned. Besides that, I suppose I'd be a little annoyed because the only time we'd might see Ragna fight in a DB had to be so one sided. I dunno. I'm just more into even match ups. This was like matching the minimum weight boxing champ against the heavy weight boxing champ. Sure, we might see Hakumen or Terumi next if another BB DB shows up, but my Ragna DB was already spent D:

They are more or less the same with GGX-GGXX's status: everything happened unless it contradicts the main series: GG1, GG2 and GG Xrd. It's also odd that Daisuke Ishiwatari would draw official art for novels that aren't canon.

Solhunter Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 Just to clear something up: The Megadeath Class Gear Hydra in the Lightning the Argent novel wasn't defeated by Sol. Ky issued an order to use a satellite laser weapon called "Last Resort" to kill the Gear after Solaria(an incomplete Command-Type Gear created by the Plackard Company) woke it up with her song. So, he promptly had the entire area nuked. The city-sized Gear that Sol blew away with a super Gunflame also appears in the GGXtra manga, not novel. Both the manga and novel chronologically take place before GGX, with the manga occurring before the novel. And to answer a previous question: Yes, like Blazblue, all side materials pertaining to Guilty Gear such as the manga, novels, short stories and Drama CDs are canon. The novel events are even mentioned in the Guilty Gear Xrd Library (though, as pointed out, it's not a complete glossary since they mentioned Sheevus and the Vitae, but forgot to bring up Solaria).
