Reioumu Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UvPHAz6ww-Q#t=4m7s I know it's a litchi combo vid, but the ending is some interesting Bang pressure which uses bumpers in an EXTREMELY creative fashion. I want to highligh the moment where Bang does 5A 5B 2B 2C 214B dash 2A 5B jc j.A j.C 236D whiff 6-dash j.C My jaw dropped at that...You trick them into trying to block the D-nails but hit them from behind with j.C instead to start another combo... BUT EVEN MORE AMAZING uses the SAME bumper! dash 5A 5B 2B 2C IAD 3-dash 2B 623B 2363214C Quite an ingenious bumper setup... I'm going to be doing some bumper tests tomorrow.
tataki Posted August 5, 2009 Author Posted August 5, 2009 That was the first time I played alzarath in BB, we only played GG against eachother before today. :] Even though this isn't bang specific, me and Mike Z have been working on a video, and Bang players can benefit from watching and learning this tactic: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QLihwTbGTiA This is really old stuff... In HNK they didn't want you to do it so they didn't let you input during the flash, but you could do this in many other games including guilty gear.

In HNK they didn't want you to do it so they didn't let you input during the flash, but you could do this in many other games including guilty gear. Blazblue is the first game that allows you to do inputs DURING the super flash. You may be able to do inputs AFTER the super flash and BEFORE the super hits you in other games, which is very common knowledge. But in 99% of games, during a super flash you can't do a standing 720, put the controller down, then walk away and come back to see your move finishing.

Oh ok now I understand where the confusion came from. In GG, you could buffer the directional inputs during the super flash, and press the button after it ends. In HNK, you couldn't buffer anything during the super flash. In BB, you can buffer everything and have the super come out by itself when the flash ends. It doesn't seem to work with FRKZ->daifunka
AtTheGates Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 In HNK, you couldn't buffer anything during the super flash. as i said before, you can input & complete the motion for a special / super before the enemy's super freeze, then hold the corresponding button during the freeze for a reversal.
Lord Cruxis Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 I actually did Bangs Astral Heat during a fight. I thought it was amazing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N07JqLQX7Rc I hope this isn't to bad. Sorry if the quality is bad. x.x
zeth07 Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 Sorry if this is in the wrong place, but it's a video related question. I upload a lot of my matches to Youtube, and it takes forever to upload them. I'm talking 30-40 minutes for each match. Then when I actually go to watch them myself, it has a hard time buffering / loading, and usually I don't have that much of a problem watching video. So far i've been uploading the files in their original format from the digital camera. They are AVIs and all are nearly 100-200 MB's. I have DSL and these numbers 3360 / 864 Kbps for Download / Upload, so I understand why it takes so long to upload. But don't really understand why it takes so long to "download" since other movies work fine, like whole episodes of anime being streamed without any need to re-buffer. My question is: Should I use Windows Movie Maker to convert the videos into smaller files? I made one as a test sample with dimensions the same (640x480) and the file size changed from 146 MB to 17.7 MB. The bitrate changed from 88kbps to 875kbps. And while watching off my computer I don't see a really noticeable difference in quality, but maybe Youtube would make it worst. However that is a lot smaller file size so I can only imagine it'd take a lot shorter amount of time to upload, and thus with the smaller file size, it'd load faster for me. So any suggestions? If this is in the wrong place, please move / delete or whatever has to be done, and sorry if it is in the wrong place.
dgowen Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 The videos I upload are around that size... maybe even smaller. I record from the webcam on my PC. I think you should be fine with that conversion, it takes about 6min to upload a video for me and they load quite fast. Speaking of which... I'm a hero in training. I was playing Arakune, but I like Bang's character so much more and just have way more fun playing as him. Here are some videos of my journey for love and justice! Bang vs Litchi http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ObiC6dSZqc Bang vs Hakumen http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tCtaTLJBWtE Bang vs Ragna http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W1xBfp6QIv0 I'm not claiming to be an awesome Bang, as you can see my execution is quite sloppy and I kind of play a 'try to be psychic' style, but I hope to improve my Bang skills and maybe get some tips and tricks from others?
Reioumu Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 Dora vs Jin. XBL match also testing my dazzle out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jRSNY2V_XVo&fmt=18
rambo4ever Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 Dora plays really patient when he's on the defense. The Jin seemed to handle Bang's mixups well too. Good match overall.
Reioumu Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 The Jin was smart and didn't spam DPs or much of anything and tried to bait Dora (which he baited a non-rapid cancelled Daifunka x_x), it was a good match IMO as well.

Hey, by no means an expert Bang player here, but just a few things I think would help your own Bang game. -I see what you mean by trying to be psychic with those 2Ds. It served you well in those videos, but I'm pretty sure it would have failed against more alert players. Surprised I didn't see you get thrown out of it or just blocked. 2D's an awesome move but if you use it all the time better players will catch on and punish you for it instead of just hitting the guardpoint. Speaking of that, learn the throw break buffer trick, so when people do start throwing you out of it you can be prepared. -Mixups! Bang has loads of way to mix people up; overheads, IAD crossup with j.4C, hitting low with 2A, whatever you like. I noticed you usually just tried to pull off a psychic 2D, which isn't the greatest thing to do on oki. I prefer to put the fear of Bang's mixups in people before hoping to catch a mistake that lets me get off a 2D. -Pressure. Try to conserve those nails. Yeah, D Nails are so good and they're great to get in, but I feel they're more useful when you're putting pressure on people. Learn to tk those d nails in the middle of block strings and then dash in to continue pressure. When you do, you can mix up with overheads or lows or command grab. Speaking of command grab... -Command grab is awesome, but comboing into it is futile. Alert players will just tech it in the huge amount of time they have to do it in. Sure, it can catch people off guard if you do it once, but I wouldn't reccommend doing it much, if it all. That said command grab is freaking awesome. So many people eat command grab on wakeup lol. It's great in pressure strings too. All that said though, your Bang is pretty solid. Looked to me like your execution was pretty much spot on.

Dont combo into the command throw like Brown said. Drive nails are fine for zoning, however i use them in pressure whenever i can. You have to get better at doing your combos. You were using 5a as a poke like you're supposed to, but you weren't actually doing a combo when it hit, or actually doing blockstrings. 2d is a great move, but you can't spam it that much against better players, you'll get punished alot. Be careful on the wakeup distortions, 98% of the time they wont hit because it's a 19 frame startup move. 6d on wakeup if you dont want to guess high/low, it has frame 1 guard points, so it acts as a reversal against mid/lows.
Reioumu Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rF0JMd3GK-s FRKZ Carl Throw combos. Just two of em.
dgowen Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 Thank you both so much for the input. I've noticed a drastic improvement in my Bang. I still need to get down the TK'ing and dashing on the pressure strings, but all in good time. I stopped rushing up and doing the 2D move every 2 seconds, and when I do it, get ready to do the throw break and have been pretty successful at that... I've also started using his cross up kick much more effectively, people seem to have a lot of trouble stopping that kick after BNB I also finally landed the command throw... it shows my mix up is finally striking fear into the heart of my competitors!

You should also watch the Bangs who made it into SBO. DORA and Nezu. They both have great Bangs and you should watch some of their vids and learn off of what they do.
Reioumu Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 Sorry for Double post, but I just uploaded 3 more Bang videos, two of them are NEW Dora videos from XBL against Nu. Yuu0218 (NU) vs DORA BANG (BA) Hanged cat (NU) vs DORA BANG (BA) And the other is one of my matches. It's pretty crappy, but I only uploaded it because of the 3rd round. Zetsubou Rich (JI) vs Reioumu (BA)
10stars Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 Me and dora are like clones. edit: and that bumper setup was sexy.
rambo4ever Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 awesome combo off of that bumper. the whole set-up took off a good amount of life.
SSMugen Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 You should also watch the Bangs who made it into SBO. DORA and Nezu. They both have great Bangs and you should watch some of their vids and learn off of what they do. Don't forget Masutani made it as well. Just watched your vid and that bumper set up made me 10Stars: I need to play you dude, I feel the need to get raped up in Bang mirrors.
Reioumu Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 For the bumper setup, after you hit them with the mixup j.C d.5a 5b 2b 2c IAD 3-dash 2B 623B 2363214C is the highest damage setup off of that. It was online and there was a bit of a delay so I didn't want to risk it, but yeah. Bumpers ftw. And Dora is doing a lot more comboing in the air now. He is definitely amazing at hit-confirming and turning any random hit into a combo. As for Masutani, I can't find ANY videos of him, which is why I didn't mention him. edit:Found ONE masutani video on Youtube, and surprisingly none on Nico. Really old, and doesn't give us a good impression of how good he really is, since he qualified for SBO. I'm sure he's gotten a TON better. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7ES9ghkSAk#t=5m20s
zeth07 Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 Yuu0218 (NU) vs DORA BANG (BA) What was up with the symbols (I'm guessing the Furinkazan symbols) coming up at the end up the videos? My only guess would be maybe it does that in the Arcade and Dora has it set to Arcade settings.....Or does anyone else know what was up with that? I haven't personally played it in the Arcade or changed it to arcade mode to know if that was the case.
faultydefense Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 its just a random finish from what i gather, i have it set to console and it'll happen to me every now and then, dont know when its not for furinkazan or distortion finish, or perfect round, and i think it only happens in the last round of the match, or i've only noticed it then
10stars Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 happens if you get a perfect on the last round.

I thought it may be a 360 only thing, but it looks like you play it on PS3 as well and had it yourself so it is beyond me. Oh well, Dora never ceases to amaze me. Reioumu - That bumper combo/setup was awesome. I personally haven't gotten into bumper play myself yet. I'm still working on mix-up / block string play. EDIT: happens if you get a perfect on the last round. Ahhh I see. I haven't had a perfect in the last round, but I have had perfects. Thanks for the clarification.
