individuals Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 most litchis will anticipate your neutral tech in the corner, and do 13orphans then, which means the pretty good idea of blocking it in the air cant be applied there. 13 orphans has two..stages? the punching part then the spinny part. the punching part does NOT hit OTG, so if you anticipate it, dont tech. then when u see her activate her 13 orphans you can just not tech at all, at least until the spinny part. but beware, keep an eye on litchi cuz she can just 2B ur arse into it. not good. against other litchis, (this can apply to ragna i guess and any other invincibility move wielder) i rolltech away from corner as LATE as possible, either before spinny or when i see litchi attempt to hit me OTG into 13, then do a reversal DP for more incinvibility. sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt. i think you might even have to pay attention on which way stickman is facing (how he paces back and forth), and attempt to roll tech when hes closest to corner. but anyway, it definitely helps to know the punching stage cant hit you OTG, to at LEAST have to block less of it and litchis mixup.
Desperado Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 I just went against a Litchi today and my best asset was patience and a keen eye. Staying in 5B range is critical for Ragna, but even still, I made liberal use of the barrier guard - this forced the aggressive Litchi to restart their offensive which gave me more opportunities to catch a mistake. I punished toss aerials with 6a until the flow changed. When it did, I did my best to bait the DP then rush down after she didn't have the stick and I used my gauge to RC and continue pressure. Her gimmicky combo (which all consists of the same move, I swear), has to be stopped before it starts. The best way I did it was with light use of IAD to j.C to j.D. Turtling, mixed with some pokes to provoke aggressive, is really the best way to go about this match up.
cuvier Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 Punish her DP like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uXRAmNowDOI&feature=channel_page at 0:18 CH 5C > TK GH combo Thanks for that video man, I need to work on all my combos. I start a lot of those combos but was not sure what to link them with after words. It looked like he was doing a 214a,RC I really need to start doing that.
cuvier Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 Me against my roomate. He has a very aggressive Litchi. Any tips on how to get past him? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cml_8wZqrj4

I know I need to work on my combos, I am still trying to get the timing down on the game. I will definatly try to put in the IADs. Can you explain black beating?
-Ladon- Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 black beating is when the combo drops without the opponent teching, whereas your combos aren't even dropping, they're just not happening. learn your blockstrings, combos, proper timing, there's a lot of groundwork you need to be working on before it's much of a critique session and more of a learn to play session(no disrespect meant, you clearly have started recently playing)
MashButtons Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 If you get a black beat, that means your opponent could have 'teched' which means to recover. You flash white and are invincible for a bit when you tech. Black beat combos are invalid combos really. They hit if your opponent doesn't tech, but any good opponent will (against Ragna anyway. Against some character there are situations that you really wouldn't want to tech).

Can you explain black beating? My only suggestion to you, is to stop waiting for a move to connect before you move onto the next one. You should be poking more with 5B (his standing kick) and if that connects moving to 5c then 5D. If you wait for each move to finish before going on you aren't going to chain anything, just reset the combo meter.
