lolwut Posted July 4, 2009 Posted July 4, 2009 Last night I was doing some matches with a friend who has a REALLY solid litchi. I could get some offense going at times, but most of the time i'd end up getting poked with the staff into launcher then comboed into the corner + reset and follow ups. It got to the point where I was really scared to try and start an offense. Once she could get started with her combos I was clueless on how to react to it. I read this is a slight advantage for ragna (about 6.0 or 5.5 in his favor). I assume i'm approaching this the wrong way. Any advice on how to deal with litchi? Thanks
Meever Posted July 4, 2009 Posted July 4, 2009 Try and stay on the ground, Ragna doesn't have anything that'll peck through Litchi's godlike dp. You also need to say away from corners because Jin and Litchi both absolutely destroy with their corner combos. What kind of problems are you having with the staff? Are you keeping an eye on where it is at all times? Try and listen for the sound cues. Try and stay close Litchi's biggest advantage is range. You need to stay close so you can punish any screwups. Don't get poked out of range. It's hard but trying to stay within 5b range at all times is ideal. I'm not as good as everyone here but I hope some of those advices will help you out a bit.
Tarnish Posted July 4, 2009 Posted July 4, 2009 If you watch the Litchi DVD, it's basically what Godsh0t was doing. He doesn't deal with pressure well once you start spacing his panic button (DP).
Bloodcrave Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 i'm pretty sure litchi has a better poke than ragna's 5B, the kick together with the staff that deals wallbounce in counter hit, but since ragna is all about 5B, what should i do? just keep baiting her to do this normal?
celdatari Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 The thing I noticed while I was playing against Litchi basically capitalizing on the times where she drops her staff. If you can get around the staff you can do enough damage or get a grab in to keep the staff from hitting you in the back. Either way just getting in her face and pressuring her is your best bet. Only thing I have trouble with is her Tsubame Gaeshi but usually I can do Ragna's launcher combo to get through that. Once I fight more Litchi's I'll have more to add.
ShinobiFist Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 Don't give her space, plain and simple. Stay in that ass! Poking with 5B at a reachable distance is the best thing you could do. His 5B is 8 frames compare to her 5B(11 with the staff, 9 without I believe)Don't get desperate trying to smash buttons if you get caught with one of her combos, the last thing you need is to give her a CH. Just be easy, keep it cool, don't let her Jump forward dash you with her B attack. DP that chick if they trying to run that on you(That doesn't sound right, lol) I usually turtle against her, and fish for a CH 5B. And when that happens, I'm in that ass! Is all about the Ragna pressure baby! That's my two cents on it.
Blade Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 I've been dealing with DP spamming Litchi into her 63214D nonsense. Does Carnage Scissors beat her pole DP? Mine didn't, but can anything beat it?
Siefer Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 I've gotten a little better at this match-up, here's what I have to say: -Learn to block. No seriously, as long as you can block her strings and identify the holes where you can sneak in, she becomes a lot less scary. -6A or DP her IADs as much as possible, make her afraid to jump in at you. -When you have the opportunity, pressure the hell out of her, just respect the DP. Respect the DP on wake-up. I'm actually not sure anything of Ragna's will beat her DP except maybe Blood Kain activation nonsense into something. -Ragna gets fucked up in the air against her, if you are going to do air-to-air, stick to early D or A.
VR-Raiden Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 Punish her DP like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uXRAmNowDOI&feature=channel_page at 0:18 CH 5C > TK GH combo
Siefer Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 Punish her DP like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uXRAmNowDOI&feature=channel_page at 0:18 CH 5C > TK GH combo Ohhh, that video was interesting, thanks.
A-Ragna Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Punish her DP like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uXRAmNowDOI&feature=channel_page at 0:18 CH 5C > TK GH combo Kaqn to the rescue. How he didnt qualify for SBO is a mystery to me
Lord Knight Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 I dunno if you noticed but CH 5C > GH doesn't combo.
VR-Raiden Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 I dunno if you noticed but CH 5C > GH doesn't combo. fuck, I didn't even realize that lol. But I didn't see the correction cause I tried it in training and it does actually combo (with TK GH, not regular of course). He just did it too slow I guess.
Shinobi Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 Having finally played some good Litchi's (it's the weirdest thing, they're everywhere online now) I must say this match-up is tough. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if this match-up is in her favor. She's really good at keeping Ragna out (her 6B and 5C... how I hate you) and don't even bother going to the air. You will lose and you will lose badly. Avoiding corners is a good thing but honestly, that's like saying avoid being combo'd period. She has combos that will literally take you to the corner so she can then do her corner combo.
Guardian Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 I've gotten a little better at this match-up, here's what I have to say: -Learn to block. Everything about this is correct. Ragna's 5B and 5C absolutely destroys alot of her game. Once you're in 5B range, the only thing you have to worry about is the DP, which is very punishable. Her biggest threat against ragna pressure is IB~DP. So if you catch her w/o the staff, stay on her and force her to make mistakes. Ragna doesn't have the best mixup in the world, but his pressure is enough to keep her very honest. Also, Ragna's DP beats Litchi's DP clean, so if you expect a shoryu, shoryu yourself. If blocked, RC and continue. You have no reason to be in the air at all, unless you anticipate a 6B. An IAD j.C will punish it clean, and if she does the feint, at worst she has to block, and now you're in for your pressure game. At range, you're going to have to turtle a fair amount and watch for her to do something wrong. Stay away from the corner, punish her guard point strings with 3C, and block the oki mixups if you get cornered.
Mihe Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 just a small trick.. if you failed at instant blocking 5c [m], and litchi follows up with 3c, 6d will make it whiff and hit if you're close enough. 632146d will also make it whiff and hit as well.
king of heart Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 I've been dealing with DP spamming Litchi into her 63214D nonsense. Same here today was the worst day for me in BB thanks to this move , what can i do about this shit ?
A.X.I.S. Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 Same here today was the worst day for me in BB thanks to this move , what can i do about this shit ? chances are pretty high if your rushing down litchi she will dp the fuck out of you, i fought so many litchi in 1 day and learned, run in/jump in=dp. you get hit with dp then your pretty fucked...combo into corner combo pumpage...bait the dp i don't care if you run jump and air dash back, or barrier block...bait that shit, if they cant hit you with dp they cant easy combo you. about the nonsense of stick jutsu, if your dealing with the flying pole then jump it/go under it, charge in and id he bitch, i avoided her supers by with dp and anger. now for stickman combo thats tough, it honestly depends on where you fell to get out...sometimes i think its better to lay on the ground or wait until its over you and recover id..but you know what? i really don't know.
A.X.I.S. Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 rolling ID is probably your best bet even on block if you got the heat you can cancel and block if you do it on hit...actually i fought a litchi who did that, she dp and stick me, so i just ID and slowed down on the follow ups and made the whole move wiff...roll ID is like the only safe way outside of barrier i guess.
A.X.I.S. Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 well if you got balls then you roll forward, since you have to ID her, the stickman will follow you no matter where you go.
king of heart Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 After the dp the stick land behind me so i prefer facing a Busty Chick rather then facing a Stick Ryu
A.X.I.S. Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 i agree completely...damn i just lost to litchi today.
Soothesayer Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 Stick man alone is bad, stick man plus angry boobie lady at the same time is worse. Like Axis said, you can roll out of stickman's range on recovery which works. You can also try to block the whole thing, but what I and other litchis do is go for a crossup or mix up during the stickman and then it turns into a guessing game for you of whether she's gonna overhead, throw, crossup and/or low blow you, one wrong guess and you're feeling the hurt. Very risky to do since it's hard to avoid everything she can dish at you during this time. I guess one way to limit the options she has to jump and barrier block Sticky, so that you're blocking him in midair. I've seen players do this on purpose and by accident and since it limits what Litchi can exactly hit you with, it makes stickman mixup a lot easier to deal with(watch out for her airthrow though). Be careful though about trying to throw her after rolling past a stickman, once Tager tried that on me, I escaped it and pushed him right into the stickman.
