Retoasting my speculation:

CSE's rating went up a week after it was announced and it was released a month later, maybe we'll see this released in mid to late June.

That's me being optimistic but I really hope it's true.

On the less optimistic side, it's a port of an ASW game so I'm not expect any new stuff from the PSN version except Steam trading cards.

Yeah! Well, that was quick, probably expect the price of this to be the same as the console ports, and hopefully a launch discount (if possible once its out).

But for now, the wait continues.

I'm buying it day 1. Not only is it a chance to further support ASW, but even if the netcode is mediocre there's also a good chance of small but dedicated steam community persisting for a long time. I do hope Xrd is not far behind, but +R is where it's at and it's awesome to have it.

The system requirements on the Steam page are not too optimistic... though that's probably a placeholder.

Or whoever is porting this is really bad at it. i5/i7 recommended for a game with a 10+ year old graphics engine? Oh lordy lordy...

If it's under 10 Euro, I'll buy it. Anything more would be a joke.

Right on.  Worst case scenario, at least we'll finally have a definitive version of the game that everyone (or almost everyone, at least) can play.  I think the reason the online scene never took off with the console ports is as much due to the different systems dividing the playerbase as it was due to the subpar netcode.

i know that its a different publisher this time, but do you guys remember how everyone was hyped for the bbcsex release on steam? and then it got region banned in europe for about 6 months. :v:

it supports multiple languages so i think we are safe this time, but bbcsex still costs 27,99€ which is too much imo. im probably not going to play this but im willing to support arcsys as long as they sell it for a reasonable price.

You can always give money to an American friend that you trust so that they could buy the game for you. That's what I did with a bunch of European friends before CSE had its region lock removed a few days ago. Hopefully +R won't have region lock to start with...

Anyways, an ArcSys employee has been saying some mildly interesting things on +R's Steam Hub:

Regarding future titles on Steam:

We're working to bring more HYPE to the scene! Stay tuned!

We have lots of games queued up for Steam! Some of them might even be out of your imagination, I can assure you that!

I know the 2 big titles are there, but we don't just only have 2, y'know ;)

Regarding netplay:

And to address the main issue, unfortunately I cannot divulge any information that concerns the game's systems. I can only say, as the stance of an ordinary player, lag is definitely present in online mode. We try our best to keep it as minimal as possible, but in no way can we guarantee a "lag-free" environment, especially when you have things like Dizzy's 2H FRC.

Any inconvenience is deeply regretted.

I wonder what he means by "The 2 big titles are there", exactly. In another comment he basically said something like "Guilty Gear and BlazBlue are our big two franchises", so I wonder if he means the "2 big titles" are coming (CPEX, Xrd), or if he's talking about the BB and GG games already on Steam.

I wish all future ASW games and updates had the network input delay indicator like Xrd has during netplay

For all the problems with the accuracy of the displayed connection, that's actually a really good idea (I mean the frame rate displayed during the game).

Hopefully all fighting games follow this route.

The ArcSys employee I mentioned above made a new thread for questions and feedback regarding +R.

Some highlights so far:

  • ArcSys have created a small team to handle matters regarding PC/Steam
  • "Our team's goal is to be able to bring the latest games onto Steam [...] There's quite the backlog there, but we'll get there eventually!"
  • "More titles are definitely underway, but most are still pretty much tentative in nature."
  • The success of previous ArcSys titles on Steam was the driving force behind the decision to port +R and a potential PC campaign
  • ArcSys are now aware of the freezing issue w/ certain stages in +R, and Shini will be "checking with the team" to see if it can/will be resolved

So does anybody here know what time does Steam update when it comes to adding new games to purchase and download? Despite having a Steam account, I barely use it.

So if Steam gets bug fixes I'm going to call this +R+.  Here's hoping they're also willing to patch the PS3 version to fix the issue since that's an added cost.  On the one hand it's a crash so I'm sure they want it fixed, but on the other hand you can avoid playing those stages and I doubt +R is selling very much on PS3/360 right now so it'd be a money sink to fix it.  At the very least I hope they can fix it on PC.

Oh man, I'm hoping so hard that Overture comes to PC.  Just imagining hotkeys rather than having to navigate the organ for stuff (great for newer players), as well as not having to get a 360 and not having to pay for Xbox Live to play online.

And yeah, HnK would be great.  Is Hard Corps Uprising on Steam already?

It's out.

XInput only - I have to use x360ce for my stick to work. Same problem that Calamity Trigger's PC port has.

Netcode is the same as PS3's, I believe.

Keyboard support is what's all fucked up. You're assigning buttons to act as a 360 controller. e.g. first you assign your J key to act as, say, left trigger. Then you hit J in controller options to set it to Punch or whatever and it'll tell you Punch is left trigger.

This gets REALLY screwy in 2P mode. IIRC I didn't see the all-important controller select so when I had my single controller plugged in I ended up choosing both 1P and 2P's characters.

Currently I can map buttons on my PS3 Hori Fighting Edge but I can't map directional inputs.

Posted

k so the 1P/2P buttons being the same is because of x360ce

still, no controller assign is kinda...why not?

Wait a minute, what if you have a TE? It should work fine still right?

It works. I didn't have to use a third-party application to get the joystick working in-game.
