Mike Z Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 Didn't exist, here it is. In this matchup, STAND UP! She can't do anything fast and damaging without meter if you're standing up; as long as you can block her slide (3C) and crouch to avoid her command grab (421A) on reaction, you're good to go. Matchup Info: Remember that Sledge can go through several of her moves, including C and D attacks.Be on the lookout for her 3C move; be sure to block it.Crouch to avoid her 421A move.Do not jump unless you know you will be safe.
Goryus Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 Command grab? [Mike Z says] Shhhh...don't point out my stupidity in public. :^)
Tiamat Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 If they suck you can just sledge through everything. You can just do it randomly in a lot of strings and it will work because so many of her normals/drives/specials count as projectiles. If they don't suck they will try to use 6A and similar non-"projectile" attacks to stuff your sledges. Don't try to jump in on her much, her anti air moves are pretty boss.
Catastrophy Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 Yeah at least against randumb onliners I seem to have the least problem with Noel. Slides were the only thing a Noel that was adapting that I had to deal with. Even if they got a few in they still D spammed enough to eat a sledge and xx for half life.
BeefyLoveLord Posted July 10, 2009 Posted July 10, 2009 A little perfect guard push out into sledge can punish predictable slide in a big way when used in block strings. Watch your Noel, a lot of them won't change up their pressure strings until you punish it once. Also look for her to slide during points where you'd normally attempt to 5A to get her off you. I *think* she can slide under A with it, but once again I'm just some jerk, I could be wrong.
dboeren Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 I'm fairly new to Tager, so the answer is probably well known already but... I played a pretty spammy Noel last night and had a lot of trouble. I was able to Sledge, grab, etc... on a number of occasions but when she did hit me I got juggled nearly forever and didn't know how to break out of it. I still managed to win almost half the matches but it's no fun being juggled for over half your life bar in some cases and unable to do anything back until the juggle is over. What am I doing wrong? I did learn to block her initial slide move but it seemed hard to find an opening big enough for Tager's slow moves to punish her.
DoomieJ Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 Block 6B > they go for 3C anyway > they eat a fat 720. This works 100% of the time if they go for 3C after a blocked 6B. and like Mr.Z said, you should always be standing against this young lady. Except when you wanna avoid that command grab or if you realllllly need to block 3C.
funkpanda Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 So when I block the 3C sweep, thats when i can start mounting my offensive?
A.X.I.S. Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 back dashing from some of her slower drive attacks gives a fun opportunity to drop the berlin wall of damage on her ass, if she makes a slow drive move and you IB make her cry with that slow enduring communist back dash. LONG LIVE THE SOVIET POWER!!!!!!!
kensk Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 she has ways to bait your punishes (2D to avoid throws, flash kick or w/e to avoid strikes, i think she can even cancel into 5D which has invincibility and staggers on CH), dont just backdash blindly for "free punishes". if shes in drive she can cancel into other drives. one thing to note is that once noel gets meter, her lows actually translate into damage, not the best damage in the world, but damage, start looking for more risky shit too, since she can now RC flash kick in drive, meaning stuff like instant jD actually becomes much more viable. 5B is your worst enemy, its fairly fast, and leads into safe strings on block. if your super cool, you can IB it and then sledge through 2C (often her best followup), this works even far away.
Xence Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 I get together usually once or twice a week to play BB with some of my friends. One of them plays a pretty mean Noel. I didn't know about this till he told me about it, but if you block her optic barrel, she gains a 5 frame advantage.. and to an already slow tager thats devastating. If you sledgeB, you run the risk of getting punished. However, if you use the sledgeA to absorb the optic barrel you can recover fast enough to punish her if she tries to run in. If she doesn't run in, keep sledgeAing her optic barrels.. never.. i repeat.. NEVER get hit by an optic barrel. I've been thrown into a 20+ combo from getting hit by an optic barrel from very far away. Block it if you have to, but always try to sledgeA it.
Suichi Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 According to frame data, she's +19 on block. Unless I'm reading this wrong.
A.X.I.S. Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 it wasn't alot of info on this match so i decided to make a post dedicated to talking about this. noel? vermillion? how do I start? like every decent player at the beginning of the match she's back dashing away and for good reason too..your 5A and 2A stuff's her shit and nicely...she is either gonna IAD in or Rush you with A spam, start you A spam before she does and mix it up to keep her on her toes. help! get this bitch off me! this is tough noel has weird mix up's but rest assured all noels use a consistent mix up pattern heres an example of one of them. 5A>5B>6C>2C>3C now that may not chain well but in a block string you have to decide when to IB or back dash punish those gaps...whatever you do no matter the cost get her off you and try your best not to barrier too quickly. how to get her scared. sudden rush of tager pressure puts noel in a bad spot, your 360A eats all her drives before they connect, your biggest worry are her 6A because its fast and if she connects it right you eat a good 3800 damage combo. just never stop your pressure, i beat many noels because i start pressure when they think i will turtle. she has guns blazzing! so she's got the advantage, she got you in the corner and gatting you up with gunz. have no fear tech opposite of her rush, try to get a 2A in but nudge her off you dont let her restart her flow, hell becareful how you neutral tech too...she is waiting to double throw you...and noel strings=hurt. if i find any more useful tips i'll post. if you got a difference of opinion and its useful then say so. i'll edit my post or just take it with dignity, im far from perfect but i almost got my main approach down. thank you for the time.
brningpyre Posted September 18, 2009 Posted September 18, 2009 I'd like tips on when to tech out of her strings. I just took a bad loss to a really good Noel player (not Perfect'ed, but just about), just 'cause I couldn't figure out when to tech out of her LOOOOOOONG strings. Any Noel-specific tips, beyond the usual "learn from experience", which of course I try to do?
A.X.I.S. Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 well if your teching out of a string then i normally tech away from the wall either planning a elbow or barrier. noel doesn't have real strings lol because you can IB 360 her, hell noel is probably the easiest character in the game to 360 because outside of things that chain she gets hit..and for god sakes don't duck block her shit. 6B>3C chains while ducking and thats damage you take.
ShinsoBEAM Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 well if your teching out of a string then i normally tech away from the wall either planning a elbow or barrier. noel doesn't have real strings lol because you can IB 360 her, hell noel is probably the easiest character in the game to 360 because outside of things that chain she gets hit..and for god sakes don't duck block her shit. 6B>3C chains while ducking and thats damage you take. Yeah I just neutral tech noels all day to stay in close, and keep fishing for IB 360, noel is def the easiest character to do this too, also I love to crouch to bait that over head sweep move, because either A they are a scrub and with flip kick every time after this and are just asking for a 720, or they do something else which except for the slide behind hit(which is like the flip kick in punishablitly), or her 214A(free 360). Aka she has no options that put her in the air safely normally the first time I block and wait for the ineventable flip kick go behind or grab command, and I continue this strat until they decide to do a safe follow up then I block the last sweep and 720 the next time, this works well considering I normally don't play the same noel enough for them to realize this is all I do against them.
ShinsoBEAM Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 lol get a xbox SKD. Or use a school one like me haha.
A.X.I.S. Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 i fought lots of noel's i wonder how SKD will last against us.
Heroic_Legacy Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 i fought lots of noel's i wonder how SKD will Astral Finish us. Fixed for accuracy. Sorry man, he's just really, really good.
D_Dollars Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 lol heroic is that 360 tag really legit. because i LOL'D hard.
Heroic_Legacy Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 You can pull a burst 720 on Noel's 28D. Shit is so cash.
SOVIET AFRO Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 not sure if this is all the way accurate, but I've had some experience getting a jump cancel out of drive stun.... seems if noel doesn't really hit you away and make you eat 4k, you can do that much and then some right back to her out of her combos (I lol'd hard when I 720'd out of hitstun against my friends here)
