Lajin Da Great Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 Lets put a stop to this..... In depth discussion on beating Jin. Punishment Strats Zone Tactics Their Strats against you Moves to use etc.
Shinsua Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 Hmmm. . . Not much I can really say. . . I, amazingly, dont fight many Jin. . . Ill tell you what though, when Jin launches the tri-swords of ice (cant think of name) It normally confuses the hell out of people when you jump-tele, or rush in through the upper pair of swords I dont really know why, but it works. . .
Bucketkune Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 Ok so if you're being corner pressured but Jin is keeping enough space where you can't connect with a solid b&b, what's the best thing to do? And I don't mean getting icecar spammed. I figure trying to jump to port to the other side or dash behind is out of the question. I just came out of a match where I tried both then got punished hard.
Shinsua Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 Aaaahhh. . . 'Leave Room' ? >.< I honestly dont know. . . I suppose if you got lucky with a crimson shield + tele you might be able to get some where ' '; Im really sorry I cant help T_T
Saimon Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 If you see the ice car, I think you can time a 214b/214a and hit him with 5D, or just time the 5D right and he'll run right into your cloud. Just thinking of this (haven't tried it yet), but maybe a correctly timed dive will also hit him ( I mean the j.2a/b/c). I'll try and find more solutions today.

I just came out of a match where I tried both then got punished hard. perfect guard while jumping and he'll get pushed back enough at a certain point for you to either Dive or j.44 If you see the ice car, I think you can time a 214b/214a and hit him with 5D, or just time the 5D right and he'll run right into your cloud. I'll try and find more solutions today. 5d cloud will hit if timed right but its bothersome to pull off, and a correctly timed dived will hit, you can guess by where on the screen your at and where hes at, you can usually bait the icecar and catch him with a dive My favorite solution is j.66 or 44 + 5b, just hovers enough to knock him out, and then you can guard into another 5 or just let the first one finish out and fall onto him with the next, and go into your preferred curse combo
Dime_x Posted July 10, 2009 Posted July 10, 2009 if jin spams icecar hes at -9 on block. this gives ara a free 5a punish and depending on distance a free 5a>6b (jc) 236 d cloud. allowing ara to reset the match with a cloud to boot. best punish that i know of. -edit actually, just tested in training mode if ara IB's second hit of icecar he can get a guaranteed 5b>5d bc bug 6c loop! ummmm bugs. -dime
null Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 crossing over the dive works wonders on the ice car in my usage. using j.6a/b/c x n into j.2a/b/c is honestly one of arakune's least used but most effective mix-ups, especially against jin. maybe not on nu... but on jin, no doubt. and if you get him cursed, stay far back and j.6d while sending out a/b/c bugs, it's really effective. 2d IMO has too much lag as he can hit you pretty quickly with one of his ice projectiles. and keep a bell bug out, it's pretty useful
CopperDabbit Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 New discovery! Arakune's 2B beats all of Jin's ice cars clean. Just do the 2B somewhat before the ice car would hit you, and you get free counter hit 2B into 5B > air combo > 6C loop. NOTE: This will just wiff if jin does the ice car in the air. But who cares, then you can get the hell away from him or do any number of other answers. 2B even beats TK.ice cars, for the record. Enjoy!

Abstract Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 I seem to have trouble getting in on Jin. Is a more defensive approach recommended? I mean, I can connect with dives often enough, but overall I get punished in my approaches a lot. I think my playstyle is currently overly aggressive. Oh and Dabbit, the Jin in question is Alt/Pat, if you have any advice for fighting him specifically, that would be great. IIRC you've played him quite a bit.

Holy Crap infested monkeys of the apocalypse! Alt's still playing BB? Unfortunately my Jin experience is somewhat limited, and I do tend to lose to good Jin players. I'd say that a more defensive approach is preferable because he can beat out everything you do fairly easily, punish clouds and it's fairly hard to deal with his 623A move.
Abstract Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 Holy Crap infested monkeys of the apocalypse! Alt's still playing BB? Ehhh...sort of. Every once in a while, like once every one or two weeks, we'll play. Mainly because I live right next to him, so it's really easy for both of us. I'd say that a more defensive approach is preferable Yeah, I've been considering how to approach, and it seems it's almost always a bit of a gamble in this fight. Although don't take my word for it on that, approaching people properly is my worst area in fighting games in general. Nevertheless I shall continue pontificating undaunted! I think in this matchup you really have to use Arakune as a trapping character. Like, you want to get the most out of surprise j3/6D, 2D punishes, cloud crap, bell bug bullshit, and 2B counterhits. Oh that's another thing I found out, 2D is great for punishing blocked DPs against Jin.
thegame4ever Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 Yes you have to adapt your style to Jin. Summon a cloud (anyone will do) 6D bell bug, and walk forward. That's it. If he comes to you in anyway you have an option to deal with it. Icecar A 2B. Icecar B IB 2nd hit punish. If he's dashing 2D on ground. If he comes at you from air 5C>combo. You have to play a punishing game.
Raidhyn Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 One thing I was able to do today vs Jin (the 8 out of 10 times I played him bleh) was if you jump over his Ice Carz you can punish with j.D in the appropriate location. Also noticed most of the scrub-y Jins don't know what the hell to do as soon as they get cursed except for more Ice Carz. Even the level 42 guy I fought fell victim to a flurry of bees. Stamina is also another thing, a couple matches I wont after being beaten down to 20% life or so.
Shinsua Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 Welp its official I have more difficulty due to anxiety while fighting Jin than I do while fighting Nu For some reason, I coudlnt get a single hit on my online nemesis of the day Whatever I did, he'd just be there, ready to counter And I mean, anything I think it might just be the 2C, but for some reason, whenever I made contact while he was in motion of this move, nothing happened to him, and then I got a sword in the goop I should probably do research in the Jin forum, but. . .I. . .I cant honestly say Ive got the stamina to do so at the moment. . . Can someone please explain to me the mechanic of his C attacks?
ryofoong Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 From what I've seen many Jins who like to rushdown fall victim to the 2B. 2B is usually a nightmare for most people if you use it right, but since it also gets a free CH off of ice car (lol) it's especially deadly against scrub Jins. If you're fighting a rushdown Jin, 2B still will beat out some of his closer ranged moves. (Like only 1 of his close ranged moves x.O) But of course, the safest thing to do is get him marked and camp him for the entire match, using the D bug and the B bug to cover his ice car approach, and then C bug and B bug to hit him. And then j.2D to poke him for a million years. He cries like a baby all the time.

Mordecai415 Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 Here's a few things people should know about Jin... 1. Ice Car is stupid and wins out most of the time 2. If you port to the other side, you'll get ice car'd into retarded freeze combo 3. His grabs are retarded and not only do damage, but freeze you at the same time allowing him to combo you right after. 4. his standing D (even with barrier up) gets through your guard unless you block low 5. Jin is incredibly cheap and they've pretty much made him even more cheap in CS Now with all that said.. you're best bet is to stay in the air, get a cloud out there and then ground worm the shit outta him into a combo aka Symphony of Arakune, because well, let's face it... When Arakune gets you in a combo, its like watching a symphony. Also, try and avoid being frozen as often as possible.... STAY IN THE AIR! Now... I'm not a cheap fighter but Jin user's are... so why not be JUST as cheap as they are??? Zone the hell outta Jin if you get the chance, but if you're gonna go down that route.. make sure you're not close enough for him to hit you.
Edge Reaper Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 Look at it this way. If we're getting beat by the character we're trolling about, what does that say about us?
