silentdob Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 I havent chosen yet, but in GG I liked Faust, Ky and Chipp, so Im thinking its gonna end up being either Arakune, Jin, or Bang.
D1__ Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 First time I saw Rachel and learned she was a vampire I fell in love immediately. Then I tried her out at CF and always had a hard time trying to grasp her as a char. I only remembered wayyyy back when I used to play @ CF me and Alzarath being the only ones trying her out. While mad other ppl would pick Jin, Ragna, etc. I found it amazing she could control wind, but hated the fact she didn't have many long range pokes. Now that people figured out combos, setups, ways to zone w/ her, and that she's S tier status...I'm happy I still use her.
Skye Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 I havent chosen yet, but in GG I liked Faust, Ky and Chipp, so Im thinking its gonna end up being either Arakune, Jin, or Bang. Taocake is closer to Faust than Arakune. Arakune is the Eddie of BB.
Coopa Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 I first went to Taokaka because I thought she looked pretty funny. Also, her back grab where she raises her arm in triumph looked pretty dope. I eventually gravitated (read: magnetized) myself to Tager, and I found that all my Gief knowledge from Street Fighter 4 transferred very well. Buffering anything into a 720 is just plain easy with Tager after Street Fighter 4.
harlekein Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 Props to anyone deciding to take on the steep learning curves of Litchi and Carl! When I first saw the game characters I knew Arakune would be my pick. I always tend to take interest in the most outlandisch characters and Arakune definitely is one. On the other hand, I've been playing Astaroth since Soul Calibur 2 and Tager could be compared to him. And I am getting a bit into his playing style of set ups and massive damage. But the flow of Arakune, the looks and sounds are just awesome! And bugs! I can see why many would pick Noel. Her drive just makes the moves flow right into eachother. That part reminded me of Maxi of SC, but easier to control the movement. These are the typical player friendly characters and predictably populair. Then if you pick that character and get serious about it you have to break loose from the herd. Somewhat simulair to Hakumen as everyones first impressions seems to be that he is broken. (He's not, I think )
BANGER Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 Somewhat simulair to Hakumen as everyones first impressions seems to be that he is broken. (He's not, I think ) lol, oh yeah. He's far from it. People often get seduced by his high damage output, and nothing else. I have not played a Hakumen that has pulled the j.C loop on me. What I say, of course, doesn't apply to all Hakumen mains, especially the ones here (I hope).
Skye Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 Props to anyone deciding to take on the steep learning curves of Litchi and Carl! What about Rachel?
MisoSowee Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 What about Rachel? She's top 3 so NOOO! All top tiers must DIE! I would give props if she sucked
Skye Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 But unlike V-13 she has a very steep learning curve. Why hate her because she's good and equally challenging to learn?
MisoSowee Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 But unlike V-13 she has a very steep learning curve. Why hate her because she's good and equally challenging to learn? I was being sarcastic-ish. like 0.5 sarcasm. :D and yeah, she does have a steep learning curve. I'd hate to be her D:
MisoSowee Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 Sarcasm is too damn hard to tell on the internet. Someone forgot to update their sarcasm detector to version 9001
Garnet Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 I picked Carl 'cause not too many people were playing him and I thought that was a shame. I wish my sister was like his.
MisoSowee Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 I picked Carl 'cause not too many people were playing him and I thought that was a shame. I wish my sister was like his. A robot that makes you gradually more violent? Whatever floats your boat....
Garnet Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 A robot that makes you gradually more violent? Whatever floats your boat.... Well, just the robot part :D
Irikarul Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 I know this is a little late, but I might as well post my reasons for using my mains. I would be glad to share them. He was the first character I picked on random, I like his design, his cursing ability, odd metaphors, way of speaking and his insane laughs. Plus, I always seem to be gravitated towards insects in gaming for some reason. A couple of years ago (before BB was ever announced), my friends and I were talking about what kind of weapons we would use if we were in an anime/RPG world much like BBs. My friend told me I looked like a puppeteer, as kind of an offhanded remark. I thought it was an interesting observation and kept it in mind. A couple of years later, I played this game for the first time at the aforementioned friend's house (he plays Bang btw). Eventually, I decided to try out Carl, since no one was using him or even talking about him. I sucked at him the first time I tried playing (then again, I sucked w/ everyone), but I loved how he could pull a knight puppet out of his cape, use his top hat to melee others, and of course control Nirvana. My friend then said Carl kind of looked like me, as we both have blond hair and glasses (except I'm older). I then remembered what that same friend said two years ago and was amazed. Everything about Carl gave me a powerful sense of nostalgia the first time I discovered him: his design, his theme music, his profile (as we both enjoy cookies and chess) and even his name, since the first house I ever lived in was on a street called Carlson. Adding in the fact that no one was using him and the challenge it would take to get used to him and I HAD to pick him. I'll post more if anyone is interested.
Abominable K Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 People have a tendency to think that I choose my characters based on them being mains due to picking Sol, Ragna, and Ryu (SF2). However, that's not necessarily the case. When I first started playing fighters, I wasn't sure what style of gameplay I was comfortable with, but I discovered after maining 3s Chun and SFIV Zangief that what I want is a character who can sit back and throw out ridiculously good pokes. So when BB came out I asked people, "Who plays like Slayer?" and the answers came back as either Ragna or Litchi. Since I played Sol already, I decided on Ragna.
cookiehours Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 My first main was Noel. Then it switched to Hakumen, and now Nu. I like characters who zone a lot. Yes, my Nu still needs improvement with zoning but that's why she's my main. Speaking of that...I have a friend who just got into Blazblue and we had some silly matches tonight. I am introducing him to this forum. He may actually main Hakumen so welcome him when he arrives. :P
Niko Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 What is this thread necromancy?! Eh, might as well... I find characters that do damage indirectly most appealing (in all genres, not just fighting games). Rushing the enemy down with raw power seems very boring to me. I like laying down traps and playing mind games with people; I prefer characters that are weak at first glance. So it was decided very early on that I would main Carl Clover and Rachel Alucard -- they fit that bill perfectly, and I liked their character designs on top of that. Unfortunately I'm a pretty crappy player and choosing two of the hardest-to-master characters in the game wasn't a very wise choice in retrospect. My Carl is intermediate at best, and Rachel is on indefinite hiatus. (I must say that Bang Shishigami really grew on me as a character. I might give him a try some time.)
Reioumu Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 Picked Bang at first because I thought that no one would play him at first honestly. I wanted to try someone different and he seemed funny. Also no one except 10stars was using him at CTF at the time.
SKYoung Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 It's weird, but in every fighting game, I end up maining the character who I initially couldn't stand the play style/look of. In MBAC, I couldn't stand the way Kouma's combos worked, but now I main him. In SF, Akuma(soon to be Cody). In BB, I thought Hakumen looked absolutely horrible after watching some vids of GUCCI vs 0. A couple of weeks later, Hakumen was my main, and I haven't really touched another char since.
Varamathras Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 I went with the loudest, most obnoxious character who wasn't a full blown asshole.
Halcyone3 Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 I originally wanted to use nu, cuz lets face it, her fighting style is pure condensed awesome. Then i noticed that i couldn't play her worth shit cuz im a rushdown type of player and rushing down tagers wasn't helping me any. So i switched to the 2nd option, the chick that smacked ppl with the barrels of her guns till candy came out instead of using them as ranged weapons
