swordsman09 Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 So that means ASachi does have his own theme besides New World Fool then. And we get New World Fool for pre-ordering correct?
Tokkan Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 And we get New World Fool for pre-ordering correct? Only if you get the Famitsu DX pack.
swordsman09 Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 Only if you get the Famitsu DX pack. Then what about America?
Sourenga Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 Burning Inferno: Adachi's Theme (?) Nah, it's most likely that mysterious orchestral boss theme we heard in the last stream. Adachi's theme shouldn't be in the demo since Adachi himself isn't playable in it. No one seemed to notice, but the music list confirms game's theme song to be named "Break Out Off..." as well as that "Striptease" is Rise's Shadow theme and "That Which Escaped The Darkness" renamed as "That Which Comes From The Darkness" is Shadow Ken's theme. Also, Altus' demo version seems to be missing two songs that are in the arcade version: Wiping All Out and I'll Face Myself -Battle- Anyways, I updated the music list for the game I posted earlier on this thread.
Vulcan422 Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 Holy shit, the real version of Ramlethal's theme is absolutely amazing.
GVGguy Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 Oh hell YES! It is pretty freaking sweet! Dem Bagpipes! :D
HoudiniJr100 Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 Oh hell YES! It is pretty freaking sweet! Dem Bagpipes! :D ..... Shall I get the kilts my buddy?
Verimeloni Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 I still think Alter Memory had some great, more Calamity Triggery arrangements of my favorite BB tracks. Hence my newest Stepmania video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fyUzmSFLw9Q
Blade Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 Oh hell YES! It is pretty freaking sweet! Dem Bagpipes! :D That's a nod to "Dignity" from GG2 I do believe.
Dawn of Musou Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 Ramlethal's theme might just be my favorite Xrd theme. But I can't exactly tell yet.
Chainsaw Guitar Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 Every single track on the Xrd OST is a great replacment for the classic themes which are admittedly starting to get tiresome by now. Only exception is Potemkin's theme which now has a weak, overly asian sounding chorus. He'll never have music that sounds as good as Slave's Glory again. But on the whole, Xrd is defintely my new 2nd favorite sountrack from Ishiwatari, still only beaten out by GG1's incredibly diverse tunes. I was worried about how it would turn out because after Overture (or during) his music quality dropped like a hot potato IMO.

Potemkins theme is amazing thank you very much, but that is all still personal opinion. I love XRD's soundtrack (its in my phone) but there are some songs that although I still like, the older theme does it better for me ("give me a break"). that and overtures soundtrack is pretty solid, you shouldnt knock it for its gameplay woes
Chainsaw Guitar Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 Whoops, horrible wording on my part, I wasn't trying to knock on Overture's OST (And I did actually like the gameplay, somewhat) I should have just said that it was a bit hit or miss since that's what I really meant. It has my (2nd) favorite iterations of Keep Yourself Alive and Holy Orders, Sin's theme is pretty cool, the VS themes are all excellent and the character select theme is the best bar none. But I found others to be relatively subpar whereas my usual nonfavorites are still okay; Raven's theme is awkward as all hell, Paradigm/That Man are completely forgettable, Izuna's is obnoxious and Diva is just pure drivel compared to Valentine's regular theme. Poktemkin's new theme isn't bad, just... Unfitting. Really, my only beef with it is that chorus. It should be replaced with something else and it would be fine.
D.R.F. Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 I can respect that. Funny you say that about Diva, its actually my favorite theme from that soundtrack
Chainsaw Guitar Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 It's just nowhere near the level of hype The Mask Does Not Laugh brings to me, so I found it anticlimatic. That's all I'm going to add since I was about to edit that into my post anyway.
Verimeloni Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 The Mask Does Not Laugh is the most ruthless Ishiwatari track ever and that's why it's awesome. The Man is also good, Diva's fine too but there aren't enough chorus parts. Useless As A Lantern At Noon is awesome too. Good to hear the official version of Heavy Day at last. Really loving Bedman's theme, like the way the first riff is in triple signature but the second (main) changes it and the rest of the song into quadruple. Does anyone else find the sound of melody guitar in Ramlethal's theme little too soft? It kinda reminds me of Iron Maiden's Virtual XI album, I guess it's better than Calamity Trigger's so-much-treble-it-stings sound but still. After 4 edits my post layout is retarded.
Poultrygeist Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 I know the bagpipes are supposed to be a callback to Dignity from GG2, but given that Daisuke is a music nut they kind of sound like the ones at the end of the song Touched by Vast. Just barely.
Vulcan422 Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 Quoting Blade from the main Xrd Thread In other news: found some music info for people who might be interested to know who did "Heavy Day" / "Lily" / "Ride the Fire". Composer: Daisuke Ishiwatari Arrangements: Norichika Sato Lyrics: Daisuke Ishiwatari / Junya C. Motomura Vocals: Naoki Hashimoto Guitar: Toshihiro Kajihara Bass: Atsuishi Hasegawa As I thought, Daisuke is still using drum machines.
Verimeloni Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 As I thought, Daisuke is still using drum machines. But they sound way better now than they used to. I don't think using a live drummer would bring substantially anything new to his songs or make a difference in sound.
SoWL Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 Random musings after listening to the Xrd OST on my player for a couple months:- Millia vs Zato and Assassins are skipped most of the time, probably because they have that small hiccup in the rhythm around the last third of the tracks. Though even without that, both tracks still feel mediocre.- Zato and Venom grew on me pretty quickly. I now appreciate the slow parts of Zato's theme that reflect his ponderous human side, while the fast parts remind me of his shark motifs, sometimes even sounding like the Jaws theme. Meanwhile, Venom's theme might still be very detached from his character, but it sounds good enough for me to wish he had more spotlight in the story. And it's actually pretty catchy.- Chipp, Axl and Faust have their nice moments, but stay quite repetitive. Probably my least favorite themes so far, though that doesn't mean they're bad, just worse than the rest.- I expected the Sol and Ky themes to get a little more depth now that we know their titles, but they still feel the same to me: very solid, but nothing outstanding. Hope other tracks gain a bit more from their titles.
kosmos badgirl Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 So the concert is today, I hope we can get some impressions and the set list.
GVGguy Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 Oh yeah, they haven't even revealed that. Then it's gonna be interesting which tracks they'll feature... Maybe one of the vocal tracks that only have been featured in Vastedge so far? That'd be freaking SWEET.
werewolfgold Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 I'm back from the concert. Sooooooo worth the money. It was pretty damn awesome if I do say so myself. You want to know the set list, do ya...? Jin) Rebellion (BBCT Ragna) *encore* Holy Orders (GG2 Ky) *encore* Magnolia Eclair (GGXrd Ky) *encore* Blue = redux from previous concert I must say that Tsuyoshi Koyama is quite the character. He came out on stage with an open green shirt and a red scarf in a Bang-esque fashion. He also had a marker six pack on his stomach. He eventually just removed the shirt entirely. lol He also mentioned that he may have been wearing a fundoshi... There were a lot of fun moments involving the special guests and basically just the band talking to the audience during break time. Ishiwatari introduced the band and forgot to mention Naoki Hashimoto who was on stage at the time. Naoki let him have it. The bassist also mentioned in a joking way that pretty much none of Yuhki's arrangements were gonna happen live because they were too crazy. There were also a few cool solos sprinkled throughout some songs that weren't in the originals. So, that was fun. I think the lead guitarist's high string was out of tune or something, though. Either that or he noticeably goofed multiple times. I think I also heard a few keyboard hiccups. Everything was so damn loud that it didn't really matter anyway. But, all in all, great show. I was surprised they played so many. There was even confetti. Hope I'm in Japan to do it again. I kind of want some old-school Pride and Glory or Meet Again action. If anyone has any detailed questions, feel free to ask.
