And as another point, I hope Plastic Night coming version might be better than the previous (ArcFest 25th) one. Could be this event be better???!!! P.D. I hope "Silent Scream" sounds better than good. We all of here hope the same, don't we?
werewolfgold Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Childish Killer...? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll forgive it if Imai and Kondou sing Don't Look Back.
Ichipoo Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 As an avid Mingosu fan, this is big news. Now if only Chiaking (Litchi) would get in on this, she has a lovely voice as well, plus those two work well together.

Yep, maybe, and, with all these update, I ask to y'all, Is "BBCP2" Intro Theme going to be the Concert Opening theme? Because in GGxBB1 it was "Continuum Shift", in its Secuel (GGxBB2) it was "Chrono Phantasma", so, am I right or wrong?
Guilty Valentine Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 The beginning of Birthday Train reminds me a lot of the chorus part of Calm Passion. Any one else think this?
Tsuki Garyuu Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 The beginning of Birthday Train reminds me a lot of the chorus part of Calm Passion. Any one else think this? Yeah, I knew there was something familiar... Well then, all this waiting for details on the real GGXrd Soundtrack has gotten me bored, so I figured, as a passtime (and to just get this out of the way), I'll just make a revision of what I think of GGXrd's themes compared to how I initially thought of them...by comparing all character themes at once. Some are straight and narrow, others may need elaboration. Ya'll can join in if you want. *cracks* Now, let's take a look. Note: "=>" is "better than or equal to," as in better by a small margin.Characters first: Sol: Junkyard Dog > Keep Yourself Alive (all versions) > Starchaser - All these years and I still love Keep Yourself Alive and pretty much all its variants. But Junkyard Dog pretty earned its place as a whole new theme for Sol that I can listen to over and over again as well.Ky: Holy Orders (All versions) = Pillars of the Underworld > Magnolia Eclair - Impressions of Eclair remain unchanged. Still a dud to me.May: Starry Sky => Blue Water, Blue Sky (all versions) = Get Out of My Way => Unidentified Child - I like Starry Sky more by a minuscule amount. The others I feel were just fine.Millia: The Great Empress > Writhe in Pain (unless I specify which version, you kinda get the idea) > Lily of Steel - Lily of Steel still isn't that replaceable for me, despite it being a theme that she earned well.Zato: Dementia > Feel A Fear XX > Feal A Fear (all others) > Black Soul > Blank Blank blah-blah-blah-blah-blah-blah - Same deal as Lily of Steel, but lesser. BBBBBBBBBBBBBB just isn't threatening or capable of invoking fear. It's a little badass, but that's it. Potemkin: Engage > Burly Heart = Megatona Furioso > Slave's Glory - Not much to argue here. I love the shit out of Engage and it's a well deserved new theme for the character. It's that simple. The other two still great though. Chipp: Child of the Wild > Flash Hider => Suck a Sage - I still can't, for the life of me, like Flash Hider or Suck a Sage as a song no matter how well they fit the character. They're just boring to listen to. CotW gives me what the other two couldn't for me. It's fast and furious, badass and still heroic. Faust: Take the Pain => The Original > Suspicious Cook => Destructive Goodwill - I may have grown to this theme a bit as time went on, but I still can't consider Destructive Goodwill a "Faust" theme. Axl: Slow Waker => March of the Wicked King => Make Oneself = Dog on the Run - Just like before, I love Slow Waker greatly as it combines the best parts of March of the Wicked King and Make Oneself. Axl's best theme to date and one of my favorite songs in the series. Venom: Keeper of the Unknown > A Solitude That Asks Nothing in Return > Call Shot - I've grown to like Call Shot, but it's not better than the previous two themes. If there's a word to describe some of the composition in Venom's themes, it's "swagger." That's the feeling I get every time I hear the spicy and sexy metal riffs in every verse of "Solitude." It nevertheless takes its time to characterize Venom's inner turmoil and tragedy that befell his relationships with Zato and Millia. Thing is, Keeper of the Unknown is better at both departments and that's why it quickly became one of my most favorite songs in the Korean soundtrack and the series as a whole. Call Shot still got the swag, but it doesn't have much of anything else. Does he at learn earn this new theme. Yeah, sure. But that's it. Slayer: Jack-a-Dandy >>> Haven't You Got Eyes in Your Head > The Vampire Saga - Um, yeah? I-No: Kagematsuri => Blacklight Babe => Dirty Drive - DAISUKE! WHY DID YOU NOT INCLUDE KAGEMATSURI?! Bah! Anyway, I've grown to be in favor of Dirty Drive. Not as good as the rest, but it's alright in my book now. Sin: Just Do It > Ride on Time - Easily. Not that I don't like Ride on Time. Versus: Sol vs. Ky: No Mercy => Conclusion > Noontide => Reunion => Revelations > Re-coming > Faith Shall Save Thee - Pretty stretchy comparison here. What it boils down is that I like Revelations more than Re-coming as a versus theme and Faith Shall Save Thee is not very fitting for Sol and Ky anyway. Millia vs. Zato: Still in the Dark = Red Crossroads > The Spider's Thread (Do you know) - I still like Spider's Thread and it is a well deserved theme for the characters, but my fondness of it dried up as time went on. As for Red Crossroads, I like it for somewhat different reasons than Still in the Dark. In fact, both tell a different, but still an accurately depicted story; the latter depicting Millia's hesitance to fight even a corpse of her lover's self, however demented the idea of it all is, while the former depicts her willingness to fight that corpse which was, at the time, assimilated by Zato's own demon that dares to impersonate him. Spider's Thread just gives me the impression of "here we go again, for some reason." Assassins: Rogue Hunters => Existence > When Life Comes - Can't say I like When Life Comes very much, but I do like Rogue Hunters as the more accurate depiction of our assassins and the guild itself. Same Character: Ditto >Fated Duel > Nothing Out of the Ordinary > everything else - I generally don't care for mimic themes, but Ditto has the most bizarre feel to it that kind of punctuates the fact that you're fighting yourself, literally. And I just like it in general. It's a stretch to include Fated Duel because I don't know if we're gonna get "EX" themes. New characters and misc. pieces: Ramlethal: Diva of Despair - I appreciate this theme carrying over the the scale of Diva, but something is holding me back from considering this a great piece. Maybe because Ishiwatari was trying to make this both a character and a boss theme. Perhaps it worked for "Sword of Doom," but not in this theme. Perhaps my issue had to do with the potency of this composition, similar to the issue with Call Shot. DoD hits all the right marks, don't get me wrong-freakin' bagpipes, mate. Maybe it's missing an instrument to up the scale like the organ, which I've only heard in the last quarter of the song. Thinking about this more often, I have found the song I needed for comparison: "The Mask Does Not Laugh." I can tell that it was not made to sound like a boss theme and it had those elements that I felt were missing in DoD. The former even comes off as more threatening (as a Valentine should be) than the latter. And maybe that was not the goal when trying to represent the character, and I understand that...but don't forget that this is a character who deliberately declared war on the world. I don't see why this theme can't come off as a little threatening. With that said, Diva of Despair is good, but it could have been so much more. Elphelt: Marionette - Funny, I don't have much issue here than with DoD. It's great the way it is and it suits Elphelt almost perfectly. If anything, it almost tells a better story than what the game currently gave us just from the music alone. Bedman: Does the sheep count the sheep? - It's a good theme for Bedman and a well-done piece...I just like GVG's version more for how he used the guitar riffs differently in each verse. Leo: Stolz - No complaints here. It's downright perfect for Leo. Character Select: Xrd's > Hunt a Soul > Redemption => D.O.A - Blame the fact that I haven't played X or Missing Link, but I say I've heard enough character select themes here. Endings: The Cat Attached to the Rust > Lily > (#R Korean Endings) => (X's Endings) - Hahaha, oh Lily. You couldn't be better than TCAttR if you had Sol and Elphelt's seiyuu thrown in. I mean, don't get me wrong, I love you a lot-a HELL of a lot, but I'll be damned if I had been dissuaded to not consider Isuka's ending to be the best thing I can ever listen to every time I beat the arcade mode of a Guilty Gear game, derivative spin-off or otherwise. I rarely ever skip the credit's scene just to hear the whole thing; a greater reward for me than a goddamn picture. For f***'s sake, Ishiwatari, bring back the Isuka OST too!
ChexGuy Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 what how do you like Starry Story more than Blue Water Blue Sky, even slightly? HERETIC
Tsuki Garyuu Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 what how do you like Starry Story more than Blue Water Blue Sky, even slightly? HERETIC lol Hell if I know. xD Maybe I got a hint of freshness from it, so I love it more as May's theme. But yeah, the rest were good; I didn't mind them much.
TheGreatLeon19 Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Mind if I throw in my two cents on the Xrd themes? Give Me A Break - I was never too much of a fan of Keep Yourself Alive, and this theme wipes the floor with it. Every single part of it is just pure gold, and it just screams Sol. It captured his personality perfectly. Magnolia Eclair - I'm... indifferent towards this one. It's not bad to listen to during a battle, but it never really grew on me. Holy Orders, especially III, is one of Ishiwatari's best, I think, and this one just seems uninspired in comparison. Starry Story - I don't know why, but I've always hated Blue Water Blue Sky... something about it just bothers me, and I don't know what it is. This theme is much better, although I still don't listen to it much. Unidentified Child is still my favorite May theme. The Lily Of Steel - This song is my alarm. I love it. Writhe In Pain was a really solid song, and I can't really decide which I like more, but I'm certainly far from disappointed with this as its replacement. Kinda like X-Matic II or Sword Of Doom II, it feels a bit more empowered and confident compared to WIP, so I think it works more for Xrd Millia. Black Blank Blah-Blah-Blah - It doesn't have nearly as much personality as Feel A Fear did, but at the same time, it feels a bit more powerful. Less scary, though. I think it fits Zato and Eddie as a team, whereas Feel A Fear fit Eddie taking control of Zato's body and mind, and dragging around his corpse for a whole game. While it's a bit more generic than FaF, I like it. Destructive Goodwill - ... I don't really know what to feel about it. Kinda like Blue Water Blue Sky, there was something that bugged me about The Original (GVG's arrange is the only version I'll listen to) and I'm very happy it was replaced. However, like Tsuki said, it doesn't really fit Faust that well. On its own, I really like it, but as a theme for Faust... idk. Suspicious Cook forever. A Slow Waker - I fucking love this song, it's one of the best on the soundtrack by far, and blows away Axl's past themes. Suits him so well, and it's just so good, and I love the piano solo and the when the guitar kicks in again after the piano it's just so perfect There is one part of it that bugs me, the 'chorus' I guess you could say... it just sounds awkward, way too loud, and like the guitar is hitting a sour note, and screaming it. Engage - Never really liked this song until I started paying attention to the drums, they're the best part by far. Burly Heart was good, for sure, but I can live with this as a replacement. Again, like A Slow Waker, something about the chorus sounds weird... Flash Hider - This song starts off bland as hell, but it builds up really well near the end. However, this is probably the one song I'd consider directly inferior to the XX theme it replaced. Suck A Sage was one of my favorite songs, I loved the energy of it, and this one really lacks that energy until near the end. Call Shot - One thing I noticed about both this and Solitude is that they both start out really simple and a bit generic, but quickly give way to something intricate and unique. Venom, in terms of personality, is a mindless servant on the surface, who hides a deep, interesting character underneath (or so I'm told by his bio...) so I like this dynamic of both themes, it fits him well. I like them both, and I'm happy with this. Jack-A-Dandy - Why does this song have such a dumb title? Now I can't show everyone ever how much of a masterpiece this is. This is one of the top 3 best songs on the soundtrack, it just makes me feel good. Nothing really to say that hasn't already been said, everyone loves this song, and rightfully so. Dat goddamn sexophone. Dirty Drive - I like this one. It doesn't stand out, but Kagematsuri was a song that just sounded weird, like the mood of it was changing every 5 seconds and it didn't know what it was. Good riddance. Reunion - ...I never like the Sol v Ky themes, this one's no different. Meh. Next. The Spider's Thread - The intro to this song is so perfect in every way, it kinda makes the rest of the song seem to fall flat in comparison. But it's still really good, and suits the characters of the two far better than Still In The Dark did. SItD just sounded like a main theme or something. When Life Comes - Shoutouts to GVG for making this song actually good. The normal version is just... so bland. Existence actually has some personality, and it's got one of the most decent English vocals, so I'm sad to see it go. Personally, I think there shouldn't even be an Assassins theme, it's cockblocking my ears from Slayer's sexophone when I play Venom, how rude Diva Of Despair - counting this as a boss theme, I love it. Midnight Carnival was fantastic, but this is every bit as amazing. Ishiwatari, you fucking genius, you just used BAGPIPES effectively. GODDAMN BAGPIPES. Edit: Oh shit I forgot the ditto theme existed because BUMP FUCKING SUCKS
Tsuki Garyuu Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 Yeah, I didn't want to bring up GVG (and that one arranger in niconico) into all this, but it's true. He pretty much made When Life Comes a lot better and made Destructive Goodwill slightly resemble Faust in any way. I haven't included the new characters' themes so I'll edit that in after some time.
daymendou Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 Destructive Goodwill just sounds like an Axl theme Kagematsuri was great, especially the Sound Alive version. I think the shifting mood was supposed to represent how I-no was being two-faced in XX story mode.
Tsuki Garyuu Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 Destructive Goodwill sounds like it would be Eddie's (the other Eddie) theme if he were still canonically raised by Venom and trained to be an Assassin or something. That's what I think of since it should have been for a whole new character.
The Badgerine Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 Huh. Am I the only guy who actually thought Destructive Goodwill fit Faust like a glove? I kinda thought it had this subtle wacky, eccentric tone to it.
GunBlazer Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 Huh. Am I the only guy who actually thought Destructive Goodwill fit Faust like a glove? I kinda thought it had this subtle wacky, eccentric tone to it. Not, you're not.
SoWL Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 Huh. Am I the only guy who actually thought Destructive Goodwill fit Faust like a glove? I kinda thought it had this subtle wacky, eccentric tone to it.I wasn't a fan of it at first, but came around when its title got revealed. It gives you a good vantage point to appreciate all of its aspects and connect them to Faust's character. I especially like the piano parts that give those "Good doctor" vibes I missed at first. While I'm at it, The Original is not that bad, either, at least the GGX version (why are all GGXX versions so bland?). Or maybe that's just my nostalgia speaking.
