uCookie Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 I'm a bit sad that no one has mentioned this game here yet. Just goes to show how unknown it is, I guess. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JN_XXols2Go http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZOU3ZeaJa0Q ^parts 1 and 2 of a combo video for the game
tolore Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 I used to play this, I main tallgeese. This game is surprisingly good/fun for any who haven't played it, I highly recommend it. It was way ahead of it's time and is still good.
Adelheid Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Hell yeah Endless Duel! I introduced this game to a lot of my friends actually, and kinda wish we played it more. This game is a ridiculously good fighter for when it came out. The game is not unknown at all, really, it's just... really old.
Teyah Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Haha, I used to play this game back on zbattle when I still had dialup. Back in 1999 or so. Surprisingly, zbattle kicked ass and the game lagged less than current-gen games (okay, BB) on my cable connection. I mained Wing (not Wing Zero)... I think. The one with the better DP with mega invul, lol. I was aware that all of the other Wing's moves were better but that didn't matter! I loved that DP too much to switch. If you guys are down, we should totally zbattle this game for a night of laughs.
kenmastersX Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 I remember there was a scene for this game on gamefaqs awhile back and the headliner guy also posted on SRK, I haven't talked to him in ages. Last bit I remember about the game was that Epyon was really decent and had a loop (infinite is an incorrect term, but by the time it gets close to ending you'd be dead anyway) and so did Deathscythe but his normals sucked, and Shenglong was pretty fucking good. :o Oh, and I barely remember a glitch where you can make characters do their super in the air even if they don't have an air version, the combo video reminded me of it. You just the super in the air with two buttons.
tolore Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 I probably suck now, but i'd be up for some games over zbattle, or next time we're all int he same place(you coming to nw majors this year?).
uCookie Posted July 25, 2009 Author Posted July 25, 2009 Just let me know if anyone's interested in a few matches. Confirmed infinites. Mercurious Epyon Deathscythe Wing Sandrock Heavyarms I've been playing this game since 1999. I stopped playing from 2004-current. I just can't find the time anymore to keep playing games non-stop. But I still enjoy a few games here and there.
Strider Chipp Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 It's too bad this isn't Gundam battle Assualt
uCookie Posted July 28, 2009 Author Posted July 28, 2009 Endless Duel is tons better than Battle Assault. It's actually balanced very well and a very solid fighter. Battle Assault 2 is just... >_> Yeah... anyway. xD I never got my hands on Battle Assault 1 but I heard it was more or less the same as BA2. The rest of the Gundam fighters are just meh. Endless Duel was made in 1996 and it was way ahead of its time in terms of game mechanics, if you ask me. It didn't have damage scaling though, which is just about its only downfall. And it only has 10 characters, though for a SNES game made by about 14 people total (all shown in the credits) it's good. Also, it's SNES. I'm not saying you should pirate it or anything. I'm just saying if you know a bit... www.zsnes.com Grab version 1.42 or version 1.36. Those two are generally what most people use to play GWED online. www.zbattle.net Allows for a lobby type environment. Where I met most of the current GWED players, in fact, where I met all of them. http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/gentopic.php?board=564117 The board where we all frequent. Really dead now as most of us started playing when we were 12/13 years old and now, it's 10 years later. So we're all busy and stuff with life. xD I will leave it up to you to procure the rom.
tsukachan Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 I like deathscythe heavyarms and sandrock. I did wish they continued this game but they couldn't really continue as they couldn't add new characters without going into other series.
Adelheid Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 Man, that's not really an excuse, is it? Why would they scrap this amazing engine and build the bad that is the Battle Assault engine? I mean, the original Battle Assault can be pretty fun (I rock Ball in that game, so of course it's fun) but it's still not a very good game, much less compared to Endless Duel.
tsukachan Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 no one would play endless duel for 10 years. So they went for a new system and as you add more fighters the games balance issue gets worst. But now again I will fire up the super nintendo just to play endless duel and art of fighting 2 (because kasumi has the worst game time in KoF)
uCookie Posted August 6, 2009 Author Posted August 6, 2009 archunitx@hotmail.com Add me if anyone wants to play some GWED.
Dracula X Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 Sup Hue. I'm not sold on the wing infinite yet. If it's the X blockdash X then the opponent will eventually go to high for anymore to connect. The corner loop with 236 X/A will make you lose energy eventually so meh. Not that it matters since both will ko anybody anyway. I still play this online via zbattle from time to time. Hit me up if you wanna play sometime.
EternalLurker Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 Despite my general dislike of the GW series, I've always enjoyed this game. Rather rusty now, so I'ma have to get back into it. Deathscythe and Mercurius were my mains (aside from the brokenness that is Epyon; he's a secret character for a reason <_<). For such an old game, its mechanics have quite a bit of depth and the roster is fairly well balanced -- though I hate Wing with a passion. Also, first post and all that, wewt, hello, etc.
2nd_God Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 I main deathscythe... however playing the m.u.g.e.n. version of it for so long has most definately thrown my game off, i'll bet mugen diffrences: 7 dash hover/float, tension bar specials & invincible frames during the teleport that throws a projectile (i forget the name of it) also, endless duel needs a scheme editor, so i can get my all red hell-deathscythe scheme (actually, that sounds like a good additional character for endless duel sequal)
uCookie Posted February 3, 2010 Author Posted February 3, 2010 What the hell, DraculaX? What are you doing on dustloop? xD Did you migrate here from SRK or for BlazBlue? And the Wing one is an infinite. >_> You can get it to where the height will reset itself after each hit. Wing also has a corner infinite (timing for this is much harder than the mid-screen ground one though in my opinion. x_x) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZOU3ZeaJa0Q Go to 2:36 for the corner infinite. 6:04 in the same link for the midscreen one. The timing of the hits manages to reset the height. Won't matter though because at that point any enemy will be dead anyway unless it's lvl1 Wing vs lvl8 Sandrock (as shown). Ku is ridiculous for figuring this one out. But then, his frame timings have always been better than mines even when I was at my peak.
EternalLurker Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 No one beats Deathscythe for ease of infinite comboing. Deathscythe's infinite combo is ridiculously easy to do and combos out of virtually any non-knockdown attack, so basically landing a standing, crouching, or jumping punch on an opponent guarantees their impending doom if you've got at least half a super bar. It was one of the first things I figured out when I used to play the game. Nonetheless, since he's got bad range and most of his better attacks knock down, he's not broken despite that.
Heroic_Legacy Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 Does this have netplay support? If so I'd wanna see how my skills have deteriorated over the past decade.
EternalLurker Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 It's an SNES game. If you're playing it on an emulator and your emulator of choice has netplay support, there ya go.
uCookie Posted February 25, 2010 Author Posted February 25, 2010 Does this have netplay support? If so I'd wanna see how my skills have deteriorated over the past decade. Although I've already posted this... http://www.zsnes.com/index.php?page=files ^get version 1.36 or 1.42 I prefer 1.36... 1.42 seems to work just as well www.zbattle.net ^works as a lobby for zsnes. You make a room, someone might join for the game you want to play, it does a quick rom check to make sure you both have the same game, then it lets you start. You both have to have the same version of zsnes. 1.36 or 1.42. Most people have 1.42. You'll have to find the rom on your own. archunitx@hotmail.com ^if you need any further help NOTE: if you have a router or whatnot you will most likely have to port forward. If you're stealing someone else's wireless internet it'll never work as you can't get to their router to port forward
Heroic_Legacy Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 CPU on hard is easier than CPU on medium. This game is hilariously fun. Epyon is a cheating whore though. >.>
uCookie Posted February 26, 2010 Author Posted February 26, 2010 Let me know when you want a match. Epyon with his super is indeed a cheating bastard. >_> Epyon without his super is just another notch on the tier list. We generally agree that the worst matchups (bottom tier vs top tier) is at best a 6:4 in Epyon's favor. The game is just incredibly balanced. And those a few above bottom (Sandrock, Heavyarms, Deathscythe) easily achieve a 5:5 against Epyon and Shenlong.
EternalLurker Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 ....Um wut? I know I haven't played in a while, but I can't recall Epyon's super being cheap. It's easily dodgeable by superjumping and hovering around, it's interceptible by superjumping and attacking him, and, most importantly, simply blocking it all is great for your own super bar too. What makes Epyon stupid is the insanity of QCF+P, as well as how easily his weapon attacks link. Example
