Just want to know on what to learn for venom. Very interested in his play style and what are you suppose to learn on how to play him effectively?

What to learn???

1. You'll learn that he is the hardest character ever made in a fighting game.

2. Your mindset + balls [ hmm i teleported 3x in K-ball already so i guess he's still expecting im gonna teleport hihihihi]

3. Mixup= hi low hi low

4. Lockdown= ertai lockdown, n-o lockdown

5. Ball formation= without them you're nothing you can atleast memorize 3 formations >_> if you're too lazy

I suggest you practice the LOCKDOWNS asap n-o and ertai lockdown

easiest corner-lockdown would be this:

[2k,c.S(1-3hits), carcass raid, dash *repeat*] its advisable to do c.S 2hits because some characters can escape if you get too far from them.. [ex. anji's hs fuujin]

He punches the two balls, launches a stinger aim and instantly cancels it. While he's doing the stinger aim, the other two balls hit the third one (created by the stinger aim). That's why the ball leaves slowly.

I was watching an Nç”· match and I noticed this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=diK4Zv2MMd4 at 0:26. What the hell is going on there? Did he launch the Stinger using the other 2 balls? I'm not skilled enough to recreate this so can someone verify this for me? The recovery is way to quick to be a regular Stinger.

nope anyone can do it if they try XD

summon K-> summon S-> 1P -> 6HS[hold]

youll just have to do it a little fast

I have some problems and i hope that you can help me X.x please. well i was working hard on VE, I make the 6HS CR loops and know all the frc.... and sometimes i can make good preasures bufering chargers ..etc. now i am working making hard pressures with previous balls .... but now my best problem is when i have completer the guard bar of my rival i dont know a good combo with counters.... they make tha same damage XD or very similar, i have tried to make as always. (some hits and knockdown) my now my friend play with baiken too, and i prefer look for damage, (i think that is better that try weir preasures agaist beicon) i look basic gatling combo int o HS dark angel (if their guard bar is full they make 60/70% combo) but usually i make Fbs or frcs or make the dark angels in wakeups of poking (the beikcon counters are no very great agaist his overdrive. PD: sorry for my poor english

Hi Nhur, happy to here that you play venom ^^ Don't know if you remember but we played together at the e-games in Toulouse. So with a full guard gauge you've got good combos with 6P, 6HS and CRLoop but it depends a lot of the character. Against baiken, after a 239D for example : 239D - wait - 6P 6HS HS ball - dash - 6P 6HS CR - dash - 6HS P ball - S(far) 623HS (386dmg) And when you want to increase damages it's good to finish combos with a loop like : 421S (frc) 2S 421S - 2S 421S ... Then with baiken again you can do something like : 239D - wait - 6P 6HS HS ball - dash - 6P 6HS CR - dash - 6HS 421S ball (frc if you're too far) 2S 421S - 2S 421S... and it goes for 400+ dmg. You can also make simply : S(2hit), S, HS 421S frc dash, 2S 421S, 2S 421S, 2S 421S, 2S 421S frc dash 2S 421S, ... It's verry effective (350+ dmg). Hope it can help you ^^

yeah of course that i remeber you ^^, was a fun tourney and i like your venom a lot. very solid. thanks for the combos, will be very useful, today i was watching some CV of venom and i have seen somhthing similar to your combos, i will try your inputs this night *___* and yeah was fun because my main is may later is robo... well i was training with may a charge similar to 6p 6 HS CR, i let venom som time ago because i was hard for me make this charge (i dont know why) XD but some weeks ago i tried and is very easy i fail in the past because i push 8 S very soon (tha may charges are 1.5 second) and with Ve, 2 X.x but the thing that i love from venom is make presures buffering charges 2)) S 8S2))) 8S etc (with S making only on hit) or make too many balls... like Summon K, summon S, Stinger aim andlater put more ball with summon HS thanks for the info *__* I am Impatient for try this.

I been having alot of fun playing Venom (almost fun as robo ky). Heres a combo I found while practicing on stick (though im sure its nothing special but oh well) Corner after knock down with K ball (though i did it without but you should have K ball) J.K, IAD j.s, j.hs, J.d, 6p, 5s, 6p, 6hs, 6236D, (the force break spinning thing)

Since someone was nice enough to remove the #R venom thread is there any other place we can to find that information?

Pretty good guide. I can't find that many useful things with it though since the formations are different, FRC timing is later, and ball physics is changed as well as properties of some moves. Some stuff I'll probably test out later.

what are some good ways to keep up pressure in the corner so that my opponent will get stuffed if he/she tries to jump? That and a good corner pressure string, to crank their guard bar to make them a wanna jump.

The typical knockdown into P-ball works. From there(with at least a character's distance away from the opponent), 5p the ball, then immediately summon an S-ball and start charging downback. As soon as you recover from the summon, 2s the opponent while he is blocking/being hit, and the S-ball will be hit late. Follow this with S Carcass Raid or S Stinger Aim, then do 6H to fish for counter hits or jump outs. You can follow up S Carcass Raid with HS Stinger Aim and/or FRC it for further mixup.

For the tl;dr crowd:

knockdown into P-ball > 5p > S ball > 2S xx S-ball > 2S xx S Carcass Raid > HS Stinger Aim

or

knockdown into P-ball > 5p > S ball > 2S xx S Carcass Raid

I bet you guys have seen this question for the million time by now but, I have no idea what I'm doing wrong with the usual venom loop of -> throw-> 6p 6hs vertical ball s x 2 i can't connect the vertical ball s I try to buffer asap, like I do on may's loops, and it simply doesn't work, I thought maybe I cancel to the special too late or too early and tried to mess with the timing and nothing worked. I tried to use vids as reference and that failed too. Any tips on how to do this combo? :psyduck:

Hey guys, I'm playing Venom again. :vbang: Currently using this combo to practice my FRCs, charging and generally learning to combo with Venom again. In corner: (String) 5HS, Dubious Curve (S) [1], FRC ]1[... -S Carcass Raid, dashing 6P, 6HS... --Dubious Curve & Return to pressure --Attempt to charge a carcass raid and continue the combo (Still very bad at charging from 6HS) -Stinger Aim, FRC, 6P, 6HS (...whatever combo) Note: upon 14th hit, 6P>6HS is techable (but perhaps you want that?) Also: we don't have a Venom combo thread..?

Hey guys, I'd like to get the ball rolling for the Venom forum. I know a bunch of people start Venom then immediately drop him because they feel like it's going to be too much work. Good news, learning the character is easier than you think! Bad news, playing the character effectively and fluidly is what will be fettering your ability to truly shine with him. If anyone has any questions, observations, or stuff they'd like to share about their Venom journeys, post em here. Talk about something is better than talk about nothing...that and I hate how dead-silent this forum is. Shit.

If I can learn this character, anyone can do it. I'm still In central Iowa (I.e. a deadzone for all things competitive gaming), and with enough time and thought anyone can get Venom up to an acceptable competitive level. Like all things it takes time though. The number one thing I can tell people right now is to spend the time it takes to consistently hit Venom's big damage combos, he is one of those characters that when you open up your opponent with the opportunity for a hugh chunk of life, you can't afford to drop it. Venom can be played to great effects by nickle and diming your opponent with multiple knockdowns, but if you want to see your win ratio increase dramatically in AC, start hitting the juice combos. I.E. 6P, 6H, S.Cr, 6H, the rest. Or 6P 6H, summon hs ball, 6P, 6H, S.Cr, The rest. Since I'm trying to get back to a close to top player level, maybe i'll try to spend more time in the forums again.

Thanks Klaige.

Another thing I'd like to point out is that Venom is also one of those characters that you can't just learn with half a heart (if you want to be strong with him, anyways). If you want to be super broken at this game without the effort, play Potemkin. As long as you have the willpower to play and lose as well as the drive to constantly learn and pick up new tricks, Venom will be a huge payoff. Always be observant, especially for new setups. Every Venom plays differently. This is not an exaggeration, so there is always something new to learn.

I had to have Venom beaten into me. I lost over 90 times in a row trying to defeat my friend's character:vbang: but I glad I didn't give up Venom after so many straight failures in this game and at the same time I tried to play like one to the top Venom players in GGXX & #RELOAD this guy played like a god (Mosaic) the ball formation in the second round in forgettable and beautiful.

In AC, I can't do the combo 6P, 6HS, CR and I don't think i even need to because Venom has an endless list of moves to punish people. the fun part is sending pool balls after pool balls to your opponent that's my reward from playing Venom

6P > 6HS > CR is technically *not* required to play Venom, but it's definitely an important tool in his arsenal for maximizing damage, especially off corner 6HS (counter hit or not) and corner throws. I think it is important, then, to at least practice 6P > 6HS > s.ball > 5S > FB DHM. It's solid damage (a little less than a single CR loop) and gets you the knockdown. If you want a setup instead of the damage off DHM, go ahead and replace with a dubious curve setup of you choice (that is, 6P > 6HS > s.ball > 5S > x.dubious). Common corner setups are H>K, S>K, K>P, and HS>S. Each have different purposes and followups (especially regarding the second ball). If you're not comfortable with two-ball setups, go ahead and s.dubious curve and 5K dash in.

Oops sorry for the tangent. I'm sure you know most of this, but it's useful information for people who can't do the 6P > 6HS > CR yet.

Err 6p,6hs,cr isnt really that great even though i insisted it last time lol. i focus more on getting electric balls on corners than doing the BNB combo. basically 6p 6hs cr is used if you want moar damage and if you are going for a dubious curve on corner( 6p, 6hs, cr, 6hs, sum s, 5s, dubious curve).

And for damaging combo's you should try to increase first their guard meter and the most damaging combo would be the dubious curve loop. if you like, you can try it as your main corner combo for moar damage, but you should've just main'd slayer if you love damage whoring. since venom is a setup based character you'll have to concentrate on your setups.

hey is there any tips that could in prove my game play I was at a tourney a while back and lost to a Sol and Millia, here is one video

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QhGTkLJwd5U

it was not too long after that I learned to carcass raid loop mainly because I force myself to learn it.:vbang:

but I still have trouble doing air combos and the whole jump cancel thing, so a lot of combos I can never finish the right way because I try to install a jump with js and I always fails

but at times I get a few that are good.

so now I use the Impossible Dust with the 5d
