People probably won't dicth AWA for a more serious tourney, but in all honesty, AWA is a hell of a lot of fun. I've had a blast every year, and I even entered Smash last year even though Reflex, Calvin, and Lambchops were all there, and I knew I couldn't be any of them (got 4th.....haha). I entered BB but I sucked major donkey butt so I got beat by some random. You really should come if the $30 isn't that bad of a barrier, it's a good time all around. You just....you just have to be there. They do end up having to scrap some tournament etiquette due to time constraints (usually only one match instead of bo3, but there is loser's bracket!). They used to be jerks back when I first went to AWA a few years back, but they've become a lot more accomodating, actually listen to the players/community, and have become much more organized. It's fun. Also don't forget many randoms = $$$ for you! Also prizes, a TE ain't so bad, even if you have a stick already. They do gouge the pot, but if you get 1st you don't really feel cheated because you're making way more than usual for beating guys you see at regular tournaments anyway.

I'd definitely like at least a training session or two before then though.....updates when I get around it/actually move in to my place.

As for me...I won't be back until August 21st, and school starts 2 days later -_-;; Plus I (and Tong) are turning 21 soon (and are both out of ATL until school starts), so we will be quite overdue for party times. But this semester is looking rough, so idk what my profs have in store. Who knows what the future holds for me.....probably video games

In other news: Since I have to buy CS to practice at home, and I don't have a 360 or PS3....thoughts? 360 is generally cheaper, and all I really need is a system, 1-2 controllers, and the game. That's the only reason I'm leaning that way right now, but for a few extra bucks, if the PS3 has more fantastic items, maybe it's worth it? DISCUSS

Mostly looking to play dat GG, but CS will be out soon and I could get down with some CS.

PS: Last I heard ATL Wasn't big on much other than Tekken and SF, possibly Soul Cal.

My johns are similar to these, but my hardcore Asia training will hopefully pay off when I return. I'm very glad that underneath the shitstorm I started over on SRK, my goal of people getting the word out about this fantastic game seems to be working. I want as many people into this game as possible! If the place I'm living in in the Fall turns out to be awesome (won't see it until I move in, lol...) I may very well start hosting some gatherings. Or we can keep doing them at Ivysaur's place. Expect greatness (and be ready to drive to Gatech :P)!

If you need a ps3 and a copy of CS for these let me know. I can bring a tv too if someone can drive my carless ass over there, Elliot. It's a CRT, so no lag, but the screen is pretty small (it's the one I ended up lending to the gamefest people for the brawl tourney, if you recall).

Sly there are a ton a SRKers in the Suwanee/Duluth area, but most of the comp is in Atlanta/Ga Tech. Also Revivals are monthly, with Augusta Super every couple months.

So it seems all you rich folks got a PS3 :P How much do they run these days? I just need the cheap ol' ones, but even at retail $110 for an xbox is pretty sexy. $250 for the cheapest, refurbished PS3 is ridiculous imo though, I'll scour the interwebs and see what I can find. Open to suggestions.

Also console version is neat. They FINALLY do something that no fighting game that I've ever seen has ever done. PUT BUTTON MAP SETTINGS ON THE CHARACTER SELECT SCREEN. Ingenious! Mu-12 is weird, nobody really understands her yet, even the guys I play with (and she seems really complicated). I'm curious to see how she evolves as a character.

also yeah do not go to AWA if all you want to do is the BBCS tournament. First and foremost it's an anime convention, not a fighting game convention, my second place prize was a shitty t-shirt that I still have never worn lol. It's not about making money, it's about showing off and having a lot of fun as a distraction from the rest of the con. I don't care much for anime, I go for videogaming and friends every year. I'll be watching the AMV awards with my bf this year too, sometimes they're pretty good.

Also I think we have met at a waba games tournament before, i picked the pink tager and some kid sat down to play me and he apologized to me because he said he picks arakune and tager vs arakune is a bad matchup, and then he got stomped lol.

I remember because it was my first tournament for 2Ds and I saw you win with my character.

AFAIK Elliot is the only Ara in GA, and I dunno if he was there.
