harmless kitten Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 @Almadiel: Hahahahaha, that's great. Bang also states Ikaruga is his "hometown," so I suppose Hi no Kuni might be another name for some of the land that Ikaruga once possessed. I don't recall anything about any of the American continents being ravaged by the Black Beast, but that thing was incredibly destructive so I wouldn't be surprised if it did. And the implication is that Kagutsuchi, at least, is somewhere in Eurasia, so all the European characters makes sense. I'm personally curious as to what language everybody is speaking. Probably Japanese given many of the names, but it could be Latin for all I know. Also dug a bit more and found: Makoto - 11th Hierarchical City of Shinatsu Hazama - unknown Relius - 2nd Hierarchical City of Iwatsuchi (Austria. Likely Carl is also from there.)
Jam-Kiske Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 Well if the Hierarchical Cities are all up in high altitudes, they'd all have to be in countries with some high altitude areas. We've got that in the States though... I don't recall anything of the continent being destroyed... @Hiago: Yeah... no Hispanic people at all in BB or GG. D:
Serpentarius Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 I might be mistaken, but I think I recall something in the backstory about the whole American continent being basically wiped out by the black beast. Really? US wiped out? that makes me smile for some reason orz.
Rhannmah Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 Yeah... no Hispanic people at all in BB or GG. D: or GG. Yeah, well except, you know, the top tier of the game, Eddie, who drags along the corpse of Zato-1one, who is from Spain
Jam-Kiske Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 SPAIN IS IN EUROPE GODDAMMIT. PEOPLE THERE ARE WHITE. [somehow knew someone would say that ]
Tsuki Garyuu Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 Irony's a bitch, ain't it? I, on the other hand, would go for an american. Well, it's clear that Japanese named cities are hosted elsewhere. I'm surprised no one asked Mori about it.
Blade Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 Someone needs to make Bururaji Micro emotes out of these. Also some Guilty Gear versions.
Ehecatl Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 There's no mention of America being wiped out-- and to be honest, it wouldn't surprise me if Ragna was American. Don't mean to stereotypical, but we Americans tend to make good assholes and Ragna strikes me as an asshole. :P And as for the time loops-- I've seen no proof that the time loops have ended. Takamagahara is still active through most of CS's story and Rachel doesn't say the loops have ended. I'll need official confirmation if they are indeed ended. Perhaps Suzaku could provide some enlightenment.
Blade Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 SPAIN IS IN EUROPE GODDAMMIT. PEOPLE THERE ARE WHITE. [somehow knew someone would say that ] Well, Spanish isn't your native language, Latin isn't your native language...and um...well..............Brazillianeze? If you wanna get patriotic speak Aztec I guess? Speaking of Patriotism though...just how many Hierarchical cities are there?
HiagoX Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 SPAIN IS IN EUROPE GODDAMMIT. PEOPLE THERE ARE WHITE. [somehow knew someone would say that ] lolwut There's no mention of America being wiped out-- and to be honest, it wouldn't surprise me if Ragna was American. Perhaps Suzaku could provide some enlightenment. Uh, didn't Saya herself say that because of what they've done to Takamagahara, the time loops stopped? Unless you are talking about "after CT~before CS true ending". Well, Spanish isn't your native language, Latin isn't your native language...and um...well..............Brazillianeze? If you wanna get patriotic speak Aztec I guess? Man, it's fucking portuguese. Not Brazillianeze.
Blade Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 I'm part Polish, part German, part Prussian, mostly American. My blood is at war with itself, what the hell do I know? And Portuguese should be native to Portugal and the Azores, if I'm not mistaken.
HiagoX Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 Brazil was once Portugal's colony, thus why our langauge is an "upgraded" version of their portuguese. But it's still called portuguese.
Serpentarius Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 But Brazil was a Porteguese Colony for the longest time. We don't speak "American" in America. We speak English. ....Well, MOST of us at least. Enough Thread Hijacking. I'm curious on the other Hierarchical Cities locations. :D
Ehecatl Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 Uh, didn't Saya herself say that because of what they've done to Takamagahara, the time loops stopped? Unless you are talking about "after CT~before CS true ending". I had written a theory in a post several pages back and in that I had been speaking about after CT/ before CS true ending. Of course I know the loops have ended after CS. Go back a few pages and you'll see what I'm talking about. Man, it's fucking portuguese. Not Brazillianeze. This. Jesus Christ, how many people get this wrong. I'm part Polish, part German, part Prussian, mostly American. My blood is at war with itself, what the hell do I know? And Portuguese should be native to Portugal and the Azores, if I'm not mistaken. I'm taking Portuguese classes and my girl friend is native Portuguese. Those from Portugal, the Azores, the Mozambique--- and yes, Brazil all speak Portuguese. Learn up, foo.
HiagoX Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 I had written a theory in a post several pages back and in that I had been speaking about after CT/ before CS true ending. Of course I know the loops have ended after CS. Go back a few pages and you'll see what I'm talking about. Finished reading it now, and it's pretty consistent. However, I thought there were no time loops after CT's True Ending. Then again, according to CS's True Ending, Takamagahara's time loop config was only turned off by then.
Re4L14124c Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 Well, in Continuum Shift, it's not so much as time loops as possibilities, due to the Continuum Shift initiated. All the characters have a main story path, an alternate path, and a joke path; joke path aside, the main path actually coincides with each other characters' paths pretty well (they are some inconsistencies and change of orders, I think, but minor ones and usually related to Litchi, Bang, and Arakune). So it actually feels like the story isn't just repeating timeloops. The alternate paths are probably there to show stuff they can't include in the main paths to maintain consistency. P.S. The reasoning I gave for a lot of the main story paths ending with fighting Terumi (I think Ragna's, Taos, Bang's....actually, I don't remember anymore) is just that they've been coming one after another to fight him; the differences of order (who fights him first, second, etc.) might just been due to the Continuum Shift. But you can tell all the main endings don't contradict.
Soothesayer Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 Amaruga I has assumed was in the Americas, due to the name being similar. You know, that place Rachel's tea is from. And yeah Kagutsuchi is in Eurasia I believe, as Eurasia is even mentioned in CT once. I always forget where exactly. One of the concept characters in the materials collection looked pretty American.
Re4L14124c Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 In this thread we try to provide nationalities to characters in a world that has not nations.
Jourdal Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 What? its stated the characters have nationalities, you make it sound as if we pulled them out of our asses or something.
harmless kitten Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 The character bios themselves provide that, or at least what nationality they would be if BlazBlue still had them. Saying, I don't know, Platinum is from the 9th Hierarchical City of Akitsu doesn't mean much to us, but saying she's from France does. The nationalities are something for the player, really.
Re4L14124c Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 I'm not sure if you guys know, but those nationalities were just tacked on in the Western version, and only in the instruction manual. I don't remember any mention of nationalities in the JP version. edit: also, how the heck do you guys know which city is where?
harmless kitten Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 They're also in the official bios for each character, or the Hierarchical City at least (unless it's "unknown"). To use an example, Jin has イギリス written as his birthplace, which translates to....England. (More specifically, Igirisu, which is derived from Ingles, but whatever.) I think Akitsu's location is written in Platinum's bio, same thing with Relius.
Tokkan Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 I'm not sure if you guys know, but those nationalities were just tacked on in the Western version, and only in the instruction manual. From Japanese website: http://blazblue.jp/ct/jin.html Jin's profile says he's from "Igirisu" (England). "Tacked on in the Western version" my arse.
Re4L14124c Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 So are you saying that somehow all these characters were able to be born in those places, even after the first magic war? You have to remember that the Black Beast's seifer was spilled all over the world, making it impossible to live in, about 100 years ago, there's no way these characters would have been born in these specific places unless the locations somehow survived to that day. So you're saying that England somehow survived, despite the fact that the game states people escaped to the Hierarchial cities? For that matter, it says Litchi was born in Shanghai, really? Somehow Shanghai of all places survived the seifer flood? Let's say there's a Hierarchial city in these places. What's the highest point in England? What's the highest point in Shanghai? Really? of all places, do you think they'll build one in some of those elevated areas of the world when there are so many more available locations better suited to escape from seifer pollution? In addition, are you saying it somehow factors into the story? Because from the way I see it, it's still just a tacked-on-kind of info. Does it affect anything in the story? Is Jin somehow better at drinking tea? And It's not like there's even countries in the canon, everything is inside a sea of seifer and wild growth. Stop being stupid and think for a minute before pointing out that "oh it's in the bios", none of the nationalities make sense (well, Taokaka's does, but then again those characters are not using real life locations so they can put whatever they want, I guess) because it's contradicting the real canon. So stop arguing about it. It's tacked-on because it's tacked-on, and I said in the western version because I don't remember seeing any info about that in my game. Sorry if I was mistaken about this.
