Inflexible as a bow. Rigid as an arrow. That sort of thing.

And the part about the Yayoi and Kisaragi bloodlines is that they place the utmost importance on preserving the purity of their bloodlines. The implication being that the Yayoi family only marries within the Yayoi family, making it impossible for her to pursue a relationship with Jin.

What I'm curious about is...with regards to the Kisaragi family, how can Jin claim to have their blood, especially considering Ragna and Saya are his siblings?

ah thanks. translating the blood part was annoying.

He doesn't. In his story mode he says he was adopted. My guess is the kisaragi house just adopts kids with potential and let them duke it out to see who becomes the next head. Which would explain why the yayoi clan would forbid tsubaki from marrying into the kisaragi household because their bloodline is not truely "pure"

he doesn't claim, he really doesn't care.

I seem to remember a win quote : "I'm a kisaragi!", must be SOME attachment to the family name.

He obviously cares enough to want to distance himself from the family in CS to avoid them getting in trouble. At least, I think that's what was implied in his arcade story right? :psyduck:

*goes off to check*

EDIT: Just kidding it's not in his arcade but I know I read it somewhere :vbang:

I thought his family cut their ties with him?

it seems more likely he's trying to say he's an elite rather than having an attachment to the family name

Makes it seem like the Kisaragis are a Yakuza or Mafia or something, lol

I'm pretty sure it was the other way around but again I don't remember where I read that information. For all I know I could be remembering speculation. But I'm curious, where did you hear that?

I dunno about the win quote but it's still curious that he would say that he's a Kisaragi no? I doubt he would just say that for kicks and giggles. He obviously must feel something whether it be attachment or something else (no matter how small) towards the family if he says it to his defeated opponent.

EDIT: Well I found out where I read it. BB wiki... so yea... :vbang:

The win quote is voice number 88 generic A.

In english he shouts it in a prideful manner, in JP in a condescending manner. But he his inner thoughts give the vibe he doesn't really give a fuck about anything not name Ragna :psyduck:

"Everything's in a blue haze." Sounds like the place Nu was in before she came out of the Cauldron.

Oh wow, as if we don't have enough incest in the game :v:.

Is anyone planning to translate Rachel's short story? I may be able to do Tao's. It's the easiest of the stories.

No, I'm talking about Yayoi marrying Yayoi. Well, maybe the Yayoi family has more members than I thought.

Alright, translated page one (of eight) of the terminology guide. The terminology guide is found on pages 132-139 and accompanies the Teach Me, Ms. Litchi! features. I'll update it as I finish more, and then organize it in English alphabetical order when it's complete.

Terminology Guide

Here you will find explanations for important keywords that appear in this title, as well as new information that was not mentioned in this installment. This should hopefully help give you a better understanding of BlazBlue.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nox Nyctores (アークエネミー, Arch Enemy): Unlike Ars Armagus, these grimoires were intended to be used as armaments from the very start, and were tempered as a set of weapons to oppose the Black Beast. They are also known as "causality weapons". An advanced tempering technique was needed to forge them, and a total of ten weapons were planned. Eventually nine weapons were completed in the midst of the Dark War. The conflict ended before the tenth weapon, "Murakumo", could be finished. What's more, some were lost during combat. Having a high degree of aptitude in the use of Armagus is essential, meaning they can't be wielded by just anyone. More importantly, there's also a significant risk that they will inflict a heavy burden upon their owner's psyche.

Azure Grimoire (蒼の魔道書, Ao no Madousho, Blue Grimoire): The so-called "strongest" grimoire, also known as the "original codex". Despite being called a grimoire, its form is not that of a book, but rather a high-density mass of concentrated seithr similar to the Black Beast. It has no fixed form and is currently imitating Ragna's right arm. Because it requires life force to function, Ragna absorbs life from other people. Arakune (アラクネ): A seeker of magic that inhabits the sewers of Kagutsuchi. Its main source of energy is life force, and a bounty has been placed on it due to it occasionally revealing itself in public to eat (absorb) people. It has tried to absorb the life force of the Kaka clan several times, but every attempt has ended in failure. Arakune was once Kokonoe's personal mentor and a genius alchemist of Sector Seven. He often clashed with Kokonoe, who had her own way of thinking, but they kept each other in check and maintained a delicate balance. However, he defied Kokonoe's teachings and set out in the pursuit of truth, until, drawing too close to the reality behind the Black Beast, his body took on its current form. His memories are now vague. He reacts to the names Litchi and Kokonoe, but cannot remember them. His body is connected to another world, and infested with countless insects. The Dark War (暗黒大戦, Ankoku Taisen, Great Dark War): The war between mankind and the Black Beast. Because it was the first time that the "Ars Magus" were used as weapons, it also became known as the "First War of Magic". The Ikaruga Civil War (イカルガ内戦, Ikaruga Naisen) Hero of Ikaruga (イカルガの英雄, Ikaruga no Eiyuu) Ibukido (イブキド) Valkenhayn (ヴァルケンハイン) Ada Clover (エイダ=クローバー) Edgar Vermillion (エドガー=ヴァーミリオン) Demon Cells (鬼の細胞, Oni no Saibou) Hierarchical City (階層都市, Kaisou Toshi) Kaka Clan (カカ族, Kaka Zoku) Kaka Clan Chief (カカ族の長, Kaka Zoku no Osa) Kagutsuchi (カグツチ) City List

Carl Clover (カルル=クローバー)

Gii (ギィ)

The Boundary (境界, Kyoukai)

Claire Vermillion (クレア=ヴァーミリオン)

The Black Beast (黒き獣, Kuroki Kemono): Materializing without so much as a warning, this monster bared its fangs at the world. Its body was in reality a super-dense concentration of seithr. Whether it was a single creature or several is still unclear, but according to one report, "cloaked in darkness it instantly devoured everything," and so became known as the "Black Beast." Mankind tried to repel the Black Beast, but despite throwing everything they had at it, all attempts ended in failure. It continued waging war against humanity for ten years and consumed more than half of the world's population, until finally the "Six Heroes" launched their assault and destroyed it.

Beast Genes (獣遺伝子, Kemono Idenshi): Genes extracted from the corpse of the Black Beast that was defeated during the First War of Magic. Through repeated hereditary improvements, it was determined that they could be used to birth an artificial human.

Arakune seems like a pretty 'nice' and 'calm' person in his diary/Short story.....=w=

(and him being an alchemist is sure..interesting.........)

didn't Terumi joss that?

Naw.

Long time, no see, Ragna the Bloodedge.

How's your right arm holding up?

...Oops. My bad. It was me who chopped that off, wasn't it?

So, how is it? Doesn't that fake arm come in handy?

Do you think it's pretty good for an imitation?

Are souls and life force essentially the same thing in the BB world? Ragna's drive is Soul Eater, and the Beast is mentioned to devour souls (Arakune also eats souls and life force), but it's mentioned that the Azure also feeds on the life force of others. Unless life force is tied to a person's soul or something. It's kind of confusing.

I think you are mistaken. Arakune is Kokonoe's student if you look at Litchi's short story (he introduced himself as Kokonoe's disciple)

^ the book's not really consist.

the keyword section presents it as "Arakune was once Kokonoe's personal mentor and a genius alchemist of Sector Seven."

(you read that part too right?)

but in litchi's stort story

it does say

'I'm kokonoe's disciple.and i heard of you(litchi) from her"

アラクネはココノエを直の師... / Arakune wa Kokonoe o jika no shi...

Pretty sure that's "Arakune personally mentors Kokonoe". 直の師 is weird phrasing (only ten google results), though. Maybe I'm misenterpreting it? Hrm.

That sounds about right. The "jika no shi" part means "direct mentor" or something close to it if my Japanese isn't failing me.

I translated that part as "Arakune was Kokone's direct teacher". It could mean he taught Kokonoe before she entered sector seven where she became his superior. Personally I'm pretty sure it's just another weird phrasing. I'll check with my japanese teacher this weekend.

Suzaku, shouldn't "しかし、真理の追求のためにココノエの教えを破り” be translated "But, for the sake of his pursuit of knowledge he defied Kokonoe's teachings," rather than he abruptly stopped teaching her?

Posted

Well, there are 2 possible theories for the discrepancy.

One, he might tutor Kokonoe about alchemy while he interned under her. Looking at Litchi's story, it seems that Kokonoe generally hired people whose expertise was different than her. Arakune for alchemy, Litchi for eastern medicine.

Two, it's a typo/error.

Anyway. How old is Kokonoe approximately? I always thought that she's way older than she looks.
