So I can't say for sure. But not being able to do j.214B directly into j.214A is well.... ya... Do it in reverse! Did see someone pull out George first in some video, though. Looked like he was able to wind the pumpkin down afterwards fairly quickly, too (though still slower than CT).

If there was a local arcade where I live, I would try ANYTHING and see if Rachel still has some gimmicks. Heck I'll even wait for the console release. Kuuhaku Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 It's nice to see the enthusiasm, but realistically, if the top JPN and US players haven't found anything useful for her, it's not very likely that she has any such amazing trick. Even if there was, she'd become a one trick pony character. Either way not very appealing to play.

Saying that if the top JPN/US players haven't found anything then there isn't isn't a good way too look at it. They're not the only ones who can find tricks to use.

Soniti Posted December 3, 2009 Author Posted December 3, 2009 It bothered me quite a bit, mostly due to needing wind to guard crush and the new super needing 4 winds to be good. I found myself out of wind a lot more often than I did in CT.

Maybe the EU will figure out something for Rachel. It seems that overall, Rachel still has trouble with regen because she has to spend a LOT more time in the air than she did in CT meaning = less chances for air regen. Your best hope is really just turtling and hoping you don't get random hit into a 4k combo while you're waiting for your wind to come back (too bad wind doesn't regen as fast as Nirvana's health meter). Which I imagine is hard against Litchi who can get a 4k combo off of just about anything. She does have some zoning capabilities, but that more relies on mind gaming your opponent and making them intimidated (aka scaring them into letting you screen litter). Rachel does have decent opportunities with all her tools out, but that still leads to a 3k combo either way and then you have to do the song and dance all over again to get another combo.

ArkiveZero Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 i'm doubting there will be a breakthrough with rachel that will make her amazing again or even good, but condemning a character after 12 days of the arcade release doesn't really make any sense. i guess this is where you can tell the difference of the people that mained rachel because of her character and the people that just wanted to ride her coattails to victory in CT. the later is fine, there's nothing wrong with playing to win.

Be like all the other (or maybe just Californian) Rachel players and choose her! But yeah, I chose her because her sprite looked cute. I don't even like her portrait art in CT, lol.

Uh... seeing that there's basic things that are wrong with Rachel which pretty much leave her doomed to bottom tier and each match making either you frustrated or your opponent frustrated by running away and tricking them into traps =/= riding coat tails of victory. I like her, but I don't like frustrating extremely uphill matches. If I did, I'd play Tager.

Well, he's Mike Z. That kinda explains why he can make it to top 8. It's like Dora's CT Bang.. He's the one exception who can do reasonably well in tournaments despite playing an underpowered character. Chances are that someone might end up being that type of person with CS Rachel.. Anyway, my hype died down as soon as I heard the voice of the new announcer.
