zer0kage Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 You can't really cancel off a backthrow in CS now. At least it knocksdown for real now. His pokes are really narrow.. making Tao a pain in the ass to deal with especially that the new 6A/6B don't cleanly beat her Drive or 2A. She can literally go barely above/below the blade. 6A seems to be invincible only the time his head comes forward. It's a better frametrap tool than an aa imo.. I thought the j2C jC land 5C combo above would work if you're by the corner.
BladeOfJustice7 Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 bladeofjustice, 5C won't work as AA just because of its decreased hitbox. I'm sure you can use it as an AA, but it won't be a good one. But isn't it just the horizontal hitbox? I would think that the same vertical hitbox would allow it to be used as a fairly reliable AA:psyduck:

I thought the j2C jC land 5C combo above would work if you're by the corner. Backthrow really didn't change much from what i've read. The knockdown closer to you is nice, but for comboing purposes it's only extended slightly from the corner. Beat Tao's drive with your other AA options. Or hell just block, it's not like tao can crush your defense just by spamming drive. As for beating 2A, I thought 6B would still win (will have to double check), but if that's not the case, considering that she can only do it twice now, just sit it out. She will either have to follow up or be extremely negative via recovery, in which case just punish or something. I'm not sure what you are talking about with your last statement. blade, 5C never had a good hitbox above his head. It was never meant to be an AA. In the situations you may want to use 5C, 2C would be the better option anyways.
Blade Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 Can I ask how effective at stuffing attacks j2C is in CS (formerly jC) from backwards jump?
ryokoalways Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 Choose between jC and j2C. They should cover all the necessary angles.
zer0kage Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 Ah nevermind about the last statement anyway. I just do the combos I saw in vids lol. j2C clearly has a smaller horizontal hitbox especially at the point when the blade goes up. That's where jC comes in.
BladeOfJustice7 Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 Is it just me or is 4c punishable for tsubaki either when it misses or is blocked/IB'ed? Seems to me like not a move to use against her due to her "rock it attack" specifically the d version of it which allows her to combo off of you in a ch state, which seems to last pretty long.
Brotrr Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 Got a question bout his new flash kick astral. You don't have to buffer it on the ground? There's a vid where Gozaru (I think) jumps, lands, then immediately does his astral.
ryokoalways Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 Gurren has more hitstun, as it can link into 2A now on crouch (possibly 5A standing?). I don't think this was possible in CT. I believe it may also have more block stun so it is probably less negative on block. Not sure about the second one though.
Zerxion Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 Gurren was always able to link into 2A on crouch.
WallJumpMan Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 i jus played cs the other day cuz it came to svgl and i wut i noticed is that yukikaze (super counter) is alot faster when i mean alot faster i mean if u block a projectile he doesnt take a long time to charge up like in ct in cs he barley charges up and jus goes through with his big unblockable attack so if anybody can get the chance could they please test out if you yukikaze the second part of noel's air super (the missle) will noel get hit right as she lands? because in cs noel's air super is alot more punishable Thanks
WallJumpMan Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 also i dont think it is possible to do anything off of 5d (not even 2b) sorry about double post
ryokoalways Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 Thanks for the info. Are you sure you didn't accidently land super yukikaze? I ask because I've seen yukikaze in videos and it doesn't look any faster.
WallJumpMan Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 Thanks for the info. Are you sure you didn't accidently land super yukikaze? accidently? well i did it on lambda when she did her super with all the swords and i buffered it in the super freeze time and i hit her (thats when i noticed it because it was so fast cuz she didnt have time jump away) but then when i looked back at this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UUPM127lxxI (at 1:52) it is normal like in ct it may jus be against projectiles or like moves that arent attached to the body(worded kind of bad) either that or i m insane and have to test it again for sure the nex time i go
ryokoalways Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 That's super yukikaze. You did it on nu's projectile super, which is a meaty. Off tech that means you connected yukikaze on the first frame, which results in super yukikaze, which is faster.
WallJumpMan Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm9182070 3:38 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UUPM127lxxI 1:53 maybe super yukikaze got faster? or not:vbang: i m probably wrong but if you were to some how be able to yukikaze noel's super missile the first frame and super yukikaze(basically impossible) i think you can hit her as she land .......
DavidGuard Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 Could anyone explain to me how Hakumen can do an AH on Hazama's chain at 7:28 in this video? http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm9161428 It doesn't catch projectiles, so is Hazama's chain not considered a projectile? And what of some of Noel's new normals that have projectile properties now?
ryokoalways Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 Walljumpman, the first one is super yukikaze, the second one is regular yukikaze. Also note, when yukikaze catches a melee attack, there is more hitstop than when it catches a projectile. DavidGuard, I think chain has both physical and projectile properties. It got caught by akumetsu, but you can also chop it for a barrier. It also clashes with melee moves.

Sorry for acting like such a scrub in the video discussion thread, I'm biased to punish jumps ins with 'D' as I hate being in pressure strings I don't know how to read and block in CS, and have a lot of match experience against the people I play against at AI. I just got to practice blocking more.
ryokoalways Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 Don't worry about it. I have nothing against you, but I will not hesitate to shoot down bad information when I see it.
ryokoalways Posted December 26, 2009 Posted December 26, 2009 Combo starters that lead into 5CX2, etc: Easiest are jD, hotaru(>j2C), enma(j2C) in the corner 2D, jC also works Situationally enma(counter), yukikaze>kishuu, and from barrier Corner 6D>6C(full) may also work.
WallJumpMan Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 i have a question in ct the enma combo on the second relaunch with 2c u did not have to super jump cancel to j2c>airdash> j2c (ct notation) but i cs is the for some reason i m unable to air dash and j2a again cuz they tech out is it still possible or do u HAVE TO super jump cancel to get the airdash to second j2a?
ryokoalways Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 It may just not work because potentially longer startup on j2a/less untech time on j2a/new tech time calculation. In any case, I don't think it works for certain hit counts. You are suppose to j2A>jC>gurren>5C or j2A>jC>jC now I believe.
