Now as you can see, we had only 2 Poverty games as tournaments, because we couldn't finish our other ones. Now I'd like to explain what we'll do next Poverty Day (7/2/10) so everyone knows what to expect next time around.

-We will not hold TOURNAMENTS for GGAC, MB, SSF4, and mainstream games (Unless underplayed like SC4). But there will be CASUALS for said games.

-Tournaments will be Poverty ONLY. And all of the Poverty game tournaments will be FREE. Still pay Venue fee though don't forget.

-If a SEGA Genesis is used, have at least 2 Normal 6 Button Controllers and if you want, a banging SEGA Genesis stick.

-If a Computer game is used (JoJos, UMK3 for example) if possible bring a laptop for it, or put the information on a USB Drive to make our lives easier.

-Because of what happened yesterday, we'll stand by these rules for every Poverty Day.

It's the VS mode from Star Ocean: Till the End of Time for PS2. It's pretty bad and time consuming.

A bit disappointing that there were only 2 poverty tourneys considering there were so many signups. Next time I'll be sure to bring 3S and UMK3 on PS2, and maybe Clayfighter on Genesis, heheh.

Also, I'm working late next Friday, so there's a chance I won't make it. I can probably be there at 11 but there's always a chance that they'll keep me later.

My stick got busted up during the SSF4 tourny. We're completely re-working it, with new artwork as well. We'll be keeping standard frame, using same box, getting new plexi-glass for it as well. The original artwork will be hung up on my wall, as is (even with the tear, so my original artwork won't be thrown out).

Danny, I almost never get last, and I always lose. All I have won recently was JoJo's.... and that's because I'm one of maybe 2 people here that knows the game. xD

Sonic the Fighters, yes. SO:TET, no. That game takes way too long to get done. Next time, I'll actually utilize Suggoi Arcana Heart 2 for PS2 for the next poverty night.

Okay, so since major points in an argument come to me long after the argument is over, I want to continue my rant on why RPGs suck. Most of what I'm hearing is that you play it solely for the story. I just don't get this. Stories, like graphics or music, don't justify calling a game good. If Shaq Fu or SF the Movie the Game had a good story, that wouldn't change the fact that it's a bad game. If you want a great story, uh, read a great story. Sit back and watch a movie or a TV show without having to sort through items and manage them like you're being paid to do it. I guarantee that you'll find more excitement in watching Memento or Lost than watching Cloud Strife save the world from the eeevil forces of Sephiroth.

That brings me to another point, that is, unless I'm misinformed, most RPG stories seem generic to me. 90% of what I've seen is "Personality deficient main character makes friends and goes on a magical quest for justice" or some shit like that. Explain why that makes you want to sit through pressing attack on a menu every five seconds. Granted, the characters have depth, but so does, uh, every other game with a decent story. This is why Blazblue is so epic. It has a great (albeit weird) story with deep characters and the gameplay is actually fast-paced. It also has branching story paths so that you feel like you are actually controlling the character.

That's another point- when you say you want to be immersed in the game, define immersed. As in, feel like you're a part of the game? If you're talking about watching cutscenes, they're cutscenes, something every game has. Maybe the story continues during combat, but so does, uh, every other game, again, like MGS or Batman. If you're talking about feeling like you are the actual character, again, games like Blazblue give you the same opportunity to control where the story goes. Not sure how many RPGs do that. Also, may I suggest Heavy Rain? That's an excellent story with lots of twists, and is more immersive than any RPG I've played, hell more than any GAME I've played.

Please just explain to me why everyone finds something so boring and stupid so delightful by comparison with every other media. If I'm not convinced, I swear I will order a copy of Chrono Cross on ebay, destroy it, and put it on youtube. Because that's how serious I am about my opinions. Bitch.
