The reason why I want to stay away from SJSU is because there's no clubs willing to host our tournament. The price is double for people who want to reserve the space (outside of the SJSU frats).

Edit: If you guys want to run the tournament on Sunday at the Berkeley place, then do it. I can't get time off of work to run it - since I have no more vacation days - but you guys should feel empowered to try it out.

Edit2: I suggest we hold off on the minor until we get BBCS DLC available.

Wait whaaa... you MADE NorCal Install!, and now you can't run it??? Oh damn.. it makes sence with no more vacation days with Fanime and Evo and all, but srsly?

Why is DLC important? 0:

Why not?

I never made NorCal INSTALL. The community stepped up their game to make it happen. All I did was organize it.

Well if you need someone who can run things, I can do it. I've worked with brackets a whole bunch, and I know how people work and how to work with them. Would be better to have it on a day you can be there though, John :/

My thoughts exactly. In any case, Berkeley may be our next destination for our future minor. If that's the case, then I'll have to go there myself and talk to the staff. If things go as we planned it to go, then NorCal INSTALL is back - bigger, badder, and bluer. :3

Okay guys. So after talking things over with Coopa, here's the deal with the minor tournament. First things first, are we staying with, 'NorCal INSTALL' or do you want to change the name to, 'HitConfirm!' Considering all the venue hopping we've been doing, I - personally - would choose the latter.

The mission statement for our, future, tournaments is this, "HitConfirm/NorCal INSTALL seeks to expose the new generation of FGers to the classics while building stronger social networks within the Fighting Game community."

I just came up with that off the top of my head, but feel free to argue differently or edit accordingly. Here's the situation with our tournaments and how it will look like in the future. Do you care enough about the game you play to showcase it to other people? Do you want to play other - good - classic titles in a competitive setting? And if you feel like you want to help redirect some of the SSF4 hype train to other titles, then are you willing to step up your game to show it?

If you said, 'Yes,' then I suggest you start helping this minor get off it's ass and into high gear. And here's how you can help:

- First, and foremost, show up! We're looking at the first weekend of August.

- Bring your setup; this can range anywhere to streaming setups to bringing consoles/TVs.

- Be a TO (tournament organizer); you can help run tournament brackets, seeding, and managing the games on the roster.

- Advertise; spread the word. Hype begins with you and only when YOU prevent forest blazing combos.

- Help us find VENUES! Hit confirm as many as you can!

- Coopa suggests MMs...like A3r vs. DODGEMONKEY.

So what's on the roster? For starters, we're putting in BBCS, GGAC, and MBAA. T6 is out of the picture, but what we're going to do is let the community decide on which game they want to 'HIT CONFIRM!' This means, 'if we put a fourth game on the lineup, then the FG community will vote for their game like they did for EVO.' We will be putting these tournaments either semi-annually or quarterly. Either way, the minor will consist of those three games.

Look forward to a hype end-of-the-summer.

I will money match -absolutely anyone- for BB.

I'll try to coerce as many people as I know to show up, and definitely will help out running it.

Get HYPE. :V

I'll show up to every HC, but if it's outside Berkeley, I'm gonna need to commandeer someone's passenger seat. orz

I'll help out too if you guys need the people.

Sorry I haven't kept people updated with the SJSU club bit.

I think I've told a few of you this already, but I've already got the approval of the Game Developer Club in the hosting and running of game tournaments in the SJSU buildings. However, though I do have the officer consent, the three things that I am currently working on:

1) Instructor Approval (This allows for a substantially cheaper venue fee, and is required for Club-Sponsored work)

2) Scheduling and Room Organization (Which rooms are we looking into, I could use a re-link of the estimate costs from before)

3) Solidified Date (I heard early August, but that seems too short notice, I would have more luck in the later weeks of August in all Probability)

Once this info is provided and the Instructor gives the go-ahead, I will personally look over the venue and gauge the size, then we make a date and figure out setups later.

Sorry if this information comes late, but I ran this though a couple of people before (Primarily Agi and Tao, I thought I told you guys already that it was in the works).

Alright, lets take a look at the pros and cons of both venues first, ask if they can reserve a venue date, and go from there then.

Well, the Berkeley place sounds like a good bet for the monthlies. If we want to do the Minor and try to get maybe PNW/SoCal into the mix, than we'd be better off using one of those SJSU rooms due to turnout more than likely. (The $230 with club backing one I think was the best bang for buck.) I can bring copies of BBCS and GGXXAC as well as spreading some fliers to the local colleges/game stores.

Snip

Chun, I appreciate your efforts and need you to give me a hit confirm by, no later, than Wednesday (7/21). I NEED to know if we can reserve the room so I can start working out some serious business with IPW, Coopa, Koogy, PNW and SoCal. Since the first Saturday of August may be a bit of a crunch, we can delay the event for a little bit. But I must know if you can sign off the room on any - one - of these days:

August 7th, 14th, 21st.

Edit: Room rates; http://www.union.sjsu.edu/SU/SU_Event_Services/SU_Room_Specs/su_room_specs.html I'd like to see us get the Umunhum.

Just to let you know Tao I forgot my freakin ID at Eudemonia, so if you want to save a trip I can get venue stuff done this Tuesday. If you want to go yourself no worries either, but I'm going there anyways to pick that up.

Rooms have a 30 day cancellation notice policy. If I can get the room for sure, we commit (Also known as, if I get the room before the 21st, we are going there, all things said and done, so start talks before reservation day).

I'll have information ready (After research/calling/hitback) hopefully the next time I hit an internet connection. (Sun/Mon)

If you're absolutely down to money match anyone, then reserve yourself. I will see if I can find a socal opponent for you.

So much hate.

When you're the best you have to coopa

You'll understand someday

Oh BTW Render is cool, so socal exists. I guess.

If you lose, I expect you to sing a song of my choice in front of everybody, including on the stream.

Edit: Anyone who is down to money match, please tell me now. Ideally 100 dollars minimum (may be changed).

Anyone interested in qualifying for the Norcal versus Socal 5on5 BBCS Team Exhibition (wow that's a mouthful), please state so here.

Also, will Copperdabbit and Goryus be able to make it to Hit Confirm if we make it the first week of August?

Coopa I will gladly MM you for 100 dollars minimum o:

And I would enjoy to qualify for Norcal V Socal as well

Not meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. I mean, anyone who is willing to money match AND be on the stream. I need to find matches that will be hype and be worth advertising.

Interests in Norcal Team :

Dacidbro, Coopa.

Coopa I'm gonna be honest with you, MM's for 100 dollars don't happen almost anywhere. How many people do you know who really have that kind of money to throw around in the BB community? :v:
