Hellmonkey Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 If you look at the various opinions of top players(which, in case it hasn't been said enough, are all matchup charts/tier lists are made up of anyways), they generally differ quite a bit. This makes a comprehensive matchup chart pretty impossible to make without causing an assortment of arguments. Just as an example, I personally think that Robo is a horrible matchup for May, but I only know of one Robo player in this country that agrees with me (JackG, coincidentally the best Robo in this country). Hell, the vast majority of the players in this country think that May is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better than she actually is. America doesn't really have any top players with varied and strong enough comp to base something like a whole matchup chart on anyways. This is seen as well in Japan, but to a way smaller degree because the average level is so much higher. Also, best robo in the US is stormlocke hands down
ajinkris Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Why are people still QQing in this thread? Go play Blazblue or something. Also lol monkey still no avatar from me ^_^;;

I don't think that many people play dan, Gen, etc. Go play Blazblue or something.
Frank The Tank Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 So, the new Arcadia pre-SBO list is out; S: ED, TE A: MI B: MA, PO, JA, SL C: SO, KY, CH, FA, BA, AX, AN, VE, DI, IN, ZA, RO, AB, OS D: JO, BR

tolore Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 wow, slayer that low? That C tier is HUGE. Baiken below sol/ky/chip? That list is pretty crazy, not sure how I feel about it.
dehumanizer Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 woah, didn't think the list would change this much since the game's been out for a while.
Kamui Moon Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 wow, slayer that low? That C tier is HUGE. Baiken below sol/ky/chip? That list is pretty crazy, not sure how I feel about it. horizontal tier listings don't mean anything. everyone in C tier is considered EQUAL. which is lols. this list is just hilarious. everyone in B tier can kill you in one combo.
Mahouko Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 the tier list before was cool...... not everyone was in god damn c.......
Wirya Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 reload had a g tier, right? that was pretty funny Good old times. That Arcadia article on Romancancel.com (anyone still remember this site?) will not leave my memory.
Spirit Juice Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 lol @ bbcs currently being more balanced than ggac. HYSTERICAL. Also, updated first post with updated tier list. Guess that means we should just play Slash instead. =3=
farranpoison Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 Someone tell me why this list is the way it is. How is SLAYER so low. Tell me that, first and foremost. I need reasons, stat. Otherwise, I ain't taking this new list seriously.
Wirya Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 lol @ bbcs currently being more balanced than ggac. HYSTERICAL. Why, at all?
4r5 Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 How is SLAYER so low. If Slayer could lay down a projectile on oki that gives him a free mixup or three, he'd probably be A tier too. Maybe after SBO we'll see May move up next to Millia. Watch out for those hoops!
Wirya Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 "A low-damaging but dependable mixup is much better than a monstrous yet hard-to-land combo." - Guilty Gear proverb
smooshman Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 "A low-damaging but dependable mixup is much better than a monstrous yet hard-to-land combo." - Guilty Gear proverb if that's true, wouldn't Ky be higher?..... Bacon in the same tier as... pretty much everyone else....wtf?
Spirit Juice Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 Someone tell me why this list is the way it is. How is SLAYER so low. Tell me that, first and foremost. I need reasons, stat. Otherwise, I ain't taking this new list seriously. My guess is that the level of play in Japan is so high that everyone just knows everyone's mix ups inside and out. Slayer's mix up has never been exceptional; it's just that if he hit you with something it usually hurt a shit ton. Notice how all the B tier characters can pretty much kill you in one combo. Millia is probably in A tier by herself because her mix up is pretty much knocking you down and putting you into some stupid Magneto/Makoto/Vortex-esque mix up. In other words, she just guesses until you die. Why, at all? Because even though GGAC is the better, more refined game, it's actually less balanced now. I find that ironic.
Teyah Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 A tier list that changed significantly from the previous one as the game matured? Madness! So this makes AC the third game where Eddie and Millia have taken the #1 and #3 spots, respectively. Millia being so high is not too much of a surprise, given the conservative nature of Japan's playstyle and her ability to run all over that. Having tons of (unreactable) options for mixup certainly helps. I do feel that the gap between tiers is a lot more subtle than the list would have you believe. Millia may be ranked two levels higher than the majority of the cast, but she has her share of bad matchups in that C tier.
Wirya Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 C'mon, don't anybody wanna quote my post for sig? @SJ: GGAC is obviously older than BBCS. It's so natural that Arcsys had learned their mistakes
