Irrsinn Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 honestly? this shit is free. you can poke the living shit out of him now and laugh as he gets counter hit for trying to do anything. his close range game isn't scary anymore either since he can't do shit unless he has fever. even once he has fever it's pretty stacked in your favor. remember that cutting through bugs is entirely safe now and that you get the black hole when you do so (which actually puts his bugs in hitstop for all of their hits, effectively making them a waste of meter and giving you valuable real estate on the stage). so you can literally just jump around pressing C and hit his bugs/him and just play keep away until his meter drains. there's not much more to say for the time being other than enjoy your revenge while it lasts. I am in awe! how do we approach the masked man this time?! .
Mr.Biscuits Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 LOL Qwerty. Matchup is not free by any means it's easily 5 - 5 or slightly in Hakumens favor. If Hakumen cuts your bug all you need to do is wait and not summon bugs, the Barrier will run out as long as you don't throw anymore bugs on it. Also if he's looking to cut your bugs just Negative edge the C and D bugs you'll either get him in block stun or counterhit him.
Irrsinn Posted February 23, 2010 Author Posted February 23, 2010 But the curse gauge runs on time, not on how many bugs you used, you just can't wait until the barrier dissappears, can you? curse is precious now.
kousaka Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 yeah the gauge is time based so waiting is not a good option.. it stops when your getting comboed though. Don't throw A and B bugs carelessly as they will get slashed and then he'll just sit inside it. Focus on making them block C/D bugs before you get in. This matchup can be pretty bad. I feel it's slightly in hakumen's favour. Hakumen's 4c is just inside the range of 2D's second hit so you can space with that. Use clouds alot over 6d as it can't be slashed. You can also use 3c against hakumen's 4c for easy curse if they spam it.
CopperDabbit Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 I say, use their reliance on the black hole to your advantage. I can't tell you guys the number of times that I've cursed a hakumen, and he's just standing in the hole waiting for my meter to run out (confident it will just eat all of the bugs) and I hit him with a j.D. Or if the black hole is up high enough, you can 2D to push him out of it. It's also fairly easily (though risky) to bait a hakumen trying to slash a projectile. For example: let's say you have a 6D out on the screen. The hakumen player is going to try and do one of two things: 1) 2C it, or j.4C it. In either case you can dash forward or j.6C to hit him preemptively. If he prefers to say on the ground, 3C him as he's trying to kill it. Depending on how much meter hakumen has, the risk v. reward can be really bad. Since he can combo off the BH for massive damage (with lots of meter), be careful about doing this too much.
Dacidbro Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 I think qwerty is very right, this matchup is hell for Kune. Even in fever Hakumen's still hella dangerous. Try not to give him random bee counters, even my horrible ass sub-Hakumen was hitting Kunes with jD all day for free 4k damage on low meter through fever.
Maho Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 It's also fairly easily (though risky) to bait a hakumen trying to slash a projectile. He can also just jC it from one mile away and be safe from all these options. There is a situation that you might be able to bait this though, let's say you have an overhead cloud out and you do a 6D, he'll probably won't try to negate it with an air move to avoid the cloud, and might wait untill the bell bug is at mid height to use a 4C. That's your chance to bait it with 3C, but unless you got 50% for an RC, it a really risky bait. But well, at most times i would say 6D isn't really that interesting in this matchup, unless you have a life advantage and the timer is running out, Hakumen has no reason to get it by this. He can just wait safely at distance with his meter going up, baiting him slashing it is risky, and if you fail you just offered him some advantage.
Mr.Biscuits Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 But the curse gauge runs on time, not on how many bugs you used, you just can't wait until the barrier dissappears, can you? curse is precious now. If Hakumen is under the barrier you can't do shit. You just have to wait until it dissapears. If you throw a bug on the barrier it extends the time that it's out. Your best bet is just to wait until it runs out.
Skye Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 From what I've seen in videos, the challenge doesn't become hitting him with the bugs, but making sure you're in his face while you're trying. All the Hakumen's I've seen in videos only abuse the barrier at long range, so it makes sense to try to stay in their face before curse is on, so when they are cursed, you still have the advantage of lock-downs and mix ups. That's probably where the 5-5 comes in, with it being even, in some summaries.
qwerty Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 free was an exaggeration. if you ask me, it's 6-4.
Dacidbro Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Makes sense. Cause Haku doesn't seem amazing at avoiding clouds, right?
qwerty Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 i'd say more than anything that it's because hakumen has plenty of ways of keeping arakune out (j.C, 4C, black hole) and plenty of ways to punish him once he's in (counter assault is actually incredibly useful vs arakune, and you can also ib into yukikaze since it catches lows now).
SOVIET AFRO Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 All about some of those mind games in this match-up from what i've seen, either side can get on a roll and rip off 60% or more life in less than a bite or two. But that being said, this is definately a 6-4 in Haku's favor due to the sheer amount of close in tools and damage output he has. I'm just going to say, 2D is damn near useless due to the black hole traps that haku has now. At least in my limited time in the match that i have gotten to play
Mr.Biscuits Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 Don't 6D unless it's in the corner to keep him locked down. If you 6D mid screen he's going to cut it (j.C) and that'll limit your movement a bit. Try to have a cloud out at all times, he can't cut them anymore. At the same time don't just do it, you get punished hard for that. Low to the ground J.D is good and builds a decent amount of meter even when blocked. I have other little specific shit that I use in the matchup but it's all situational, like most of Arakune's shit. Matchup is probably 6-4 Cause Hakumen has that guarenteed damage, where as Arakune needs to curse him to get anything good and even landing a curse doesn't guarantee damage. But that's in every matchup! :8/: Dumb character.
pap3rninj4 Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 Jump in and block the sphere to clear it quickly.
pap3rninj4 Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 Yep ^^ I do it all the time to the AI Hakumen. Ugh I need real players.
SOVIET AFRO Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 That sounds like something of a crazy plan that actually might work.....
Irrsinn Posted February 28, 2010 Author Posted February 28, 2010 Does it break GP or something? I've never seen people smash themselves against that thing...
pap3rninj4 Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 Tested it and it does not break a guard point. Also don't need barrier.
mAc Chaos Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 Why would a Hakumen player let you just do that though? If I'm safe in my bubble and Arakune just comes over then it's rape time.
pap3rninj4 Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 Jump in block vs Hakumen bubble + Hakumen punish + A bit of negative edging off a barrier block = MY INSECTS!!
Gawse Council Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 Stand outside bubble out of Hakumens range. 2bx666
