Well, jojo.sakura.ne.jp had a "PSX-only" combo video not so recently, among their many DC ones. Unfortunately, I don't know the game well enough to say what makes a given combo PSX-only... unless you want to state the obvious and say, "the frames are different!"

Yeah, but I still haven't got an answer yet as to why the DC plays better than the PSX version.

Because it is more linear to the arcade version than the PSX version? Like, with those addition supers and stuff, obviously more creative combo can be performed.

Admitted, Gamefaqs.com combo faq is not a great one(With many mutliple similar combo for a character, only a little small variation between), I am enough to be convinced just how broken some character is.

Speaking of which, anyone gathers what version of console does the PS2 version adapt from? PSX or DC?

I can not find any information about a PS2 JoJo Fighting game.

There is only a adventure styled side-scroll-beat'em up for PS2.

Afaik there is only a crappy PSX game and a nice DC Port.

Exactly what kind of stuff does Petshop do that's so broken? I thought I heard somewhere that a lot of characters can infinite him just by jumping heavy because of the weird way that he floats... course I don't know much about this game since no one plays it. And what are some Hol Horse BnBs? He's by far my favorite character.

My friend has a matchup chart of this game somewhere. Petshop is the best character in the game followed by Kakyoin and Jotaro. Petshop can tag you with a JAB and do 80% with one super, and then he can just hold up/back the rest of the round and there's only one character who can do anything about that (Shadow Dio, up-knives or something). He beats an entire third of the cast 9-1 and another third of it 8-2. The only character can beat him, is again, Shadow Dio at I think 6-4? And even then, Shadow Dio is a pretty shitty character from what that matchup chart would lead you to believe, he's bottom tier. Dunno why though, exactly. This game eludes me! ...still would like to play it.

My buddy tells me that the matchup charts are of dubious value. The only thing that is agreed on between the few that he's seen are that Petshop and Kakyoin are the tops, and the barber is the bottom. There's one chart that puts Shadow Dio very low, and I find that hard to believe.

Polnareff could probably use the silver chariot dive attack and hit him. Alessi could probably machine gun him. Hol Horse could try doing the upward shot... but I dunno how well that would work. While not very useful, regular Dio can steamroller petshop while he's in the air, and Petshop can't block it.

Holhorse can aim his bullet anywhere so unless there's some trick to petshop being invincible up there, he could just shoot the dumb bird down.

Sure, but since Hol Horse freezes for awhile before the bullet gets going, I wonder if Pet Shop could do his teleport move or that move where shoots forward quickly and then hit Hol Horse. Hmm... Pet Shop might even just try shooting Hol Horse, since if you hit him the regular guided bullet will just disappear.

Some could probably just try double jumping at him, but I have no idea how well that would work.

Middler could try popping cars out of the ground, I guess.

I dont even thing hes top tier because of running away. Petshop does retarded damage. Also he is considered airborne while standing, so lows miss. Great projectiles, come on. On the other note, what the fuck...no one likes Mariah? No love for the chocolate red riding hood looking magnetic robot chick? Ok, i know she has her falls(combos are hard to come by without levels) but she get pretty good when the levels start going up.

I'd imagine so, too. But the runaway thing came up, so we may as well discuss it.

I love Mariah. She's great. She can give the tick throwdown, spam the other guy, and she has some good supers.

Be aware that the electric socket can be destroyed by ORAORA.

Sorry for bringing up this thread after so much time, but I'm curious about the PS2 version of this game. Is there really a PS2 version? Because AFAIK this game is only on PSX and DC, and I haven't found anything for PS2, only the cel shaded game adventure game.

Also, I would like to contribute to this thread with this nice video I found:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tzHfS44AZrc

The video description says the video is from jojo.sakura.ne.jp . I checked the website and found a combo video (pretty good, specially the part where Pet Shop appears), and some short clips from every character (looks like they are the b&b).

EDIT: The "combo videos" (not including the short clips with b&b) are fragments of combats that contain combos and/or nice plays, just wanted to clarify that because I forgot to say it before.

random stuff from memory since i just got around to reading this thread: semi jotaro inf-loop ( pushblockable ): short jump H, dash buffer 5L,5L,6M, 214L, repeat xN dio brando's semi inf-loop looks similar ( also pushblockable ) short jump M, dash buffer 2L,2L,5H,214M, repeatxN then for both of their tandem attack setups i usually leave off the 214 hit ( where each one's respective Stand would do the burn knuckle-looking punch ) and do 214Stand, then tap: L,L,M,214M,L,L,M,214M,L,L,214M,214M,623M for Jotaro leave off the 623M for Dio and just do 236M or 214M and try and dash or roll past with cr.L which will let you continue his sequence usually this gives Jotaro insane high low mixup on block because he can short jump overhead, command mid-normal low, crouching low hit, or wait for the Star Finger at the end to potentially give him short jump H to repeat the whole sequence. black polnareff has a similar frametrap with only one escapable part which makes it a semi-inf but you get about 3 frames to jump out: short jump H xx Stand ( the dive slash ), land, dash in with L,L,M ( they can get out of the M but alternatively you can use cr.H for counterhit if the M doesn't counterhit, which considering they'll have to come out of blockstun and either jump out and make themselves vulnerable to getting supered or worse or hit you with something that'll beat you on startup frames isn't very likely, especially in the corner ) then 236M, 236M, 236Stand, short jump H, standing M, 236M, 236M, 236Stand, repeat i'll post more later most likely because i like this game so much :o

This game is amazing and this thread needs more discussion. Am I the only one who ever hit Dio's famous timestop combo in a real match? Because it feels AWESOME and humiliates VERY well.
