C0R Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 You can pressure Hazama just fine, if done correctly, quick gatlings into 6a or 5b into upback barrier when you read his IB means you should really never eat a fatal Houtenjin, and if he whiffs because you baited it, free 3c follow up.
FlyingVe Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 6C will punish a blocked hotenjin outside of the corner. The risk reward in this match-up is all fucked up.
C0R Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 It's so easy to IB that I'm usually a bit close for comfort, that minimum range has almost never worked in my favor. This is kind of one of those first knockdown gg matches. Both ends have strong, but easily telegraphed and highly punishable reversals, so I find this matchup especially observation-dependant.
Zeromus_X Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 (edited) To add to the above posts, once you get a life lead and break some primers (lol4primers), don't be afraid to just up and get out of there. If he green bursts, all the better. Really, don't even be afraid to win by time out. When you get stuff set up and get fullscreen, you CAN zone him, and lame it out rather well, and with lower health/primers he has to come to you and take a risk. Before he gets 50 meter, you can go wild with your pressure, but once he has 50 meter your blockstrings basically end at 2B. You can bait the houtenjin and try to continue, but I'd just rather not take a risk and go back to neutral. This matchup can be annoying, but I'm not sure about worst...Tao can crawl under everything but 2B and generally just does whatever the fuck she feels like. You can still make Hazama take a risk and force a situation on him. But maybe I'm just salty against Tao... Edited February 1, 2011 by Zeromus_X
FlyingVe Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 Also, this is a match where I would rather do oki combo enders than zoning enders. It's way to easy for Haz to either weave through the lasers or just flat out zone you.
TD Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 l suppose you can attempt to break primers.... maybe l need to test that out. im grasping for straws in this matchup.
FlyingVe Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 However, as soon as he gets meter, trying stuff to break primers just isn't worth it. This matchup is so uphill, that risking getting set back 5k is never worth it. Also, you can exploit hotenjin's blind spot to play some games. The blind spot it above Haz, this is also true of ID.
C0R Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 Well midscreen 214d on neutral wakeup is safe, he can't punish that.
Innolis Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 Tks for all the replys! So most agree that fullscreen zoning seems to be the way to go. Thing is, I tried that and It didnt come out so well. Perhaps my stein formations were not up for the challenge, but it seemed to me that he can easily navigate trough the steins...guess its just that bad of a matchup. Anyways, for what I understand, one way to go would be to rush him down at the beggining of the match to try and get a life lead and then make a fullscreen retreat and bullet-hell him to kingdom come. I'll try that when I get home. Tks again guys!
