what's the matter mightfo? don't like the abusable grand comeback bar...i mean ultra bar? :D

also parrying is one of those things that you just have to know the timing of hits to do it right, do it wrong, you die. whiff animation just gives it less actually skill necessary i.e. whiff animation means it's active for a short while rather than Instantly taking it out (I'm implying that parries are IB's that just have a fancy sound because you can do them in the air, on the ground, and against lows.)

actually scratch that it's super punishable because if you don't tap forward at the right time it just makes your character walk into a random move. so it's very much punishable. i.e. i parry first hit of ex hadouken, i don't time the second hit right and get hit by it because i'm pressing forward at the wrong time/not pressing back to block.

tl;dr. ultra's are just comebacks. parries are just ib that are forward.

anyway, despite my reservations about recoveryless parries, sf3 is fun and that probably really doesn't matter in mid-level play anyway. it's not garou, lollll

oh god garou -_-;;

i like to call it the "castrated by a crazy bitch bar"

i still disagree on parries but i don't care that much, i don't believe it's that big of a deal anyway, and you guys have played/seen the game much more than me, so whatever~

oh god garou -_-;;

if garou didn't have guard cancelling out of JD, it'd be a good game with an overpowered instant block. instead, it's a potentially good game that just ends up fucking retarded because everything is potentially unsafe on 8-frame-window IB, especially if they have meter to GC super.

farrr worse than ultras. it's a shame, too: the game owns otherwise. great cast, etc.

i guess i'll get to try out mai+maki+morrigan if you bring cvs2..hm..i think i'd use S or N grooves. if i played a lot and got used to parrying, possibly P groove, too.

...i've never seen someone use P groove in CVS2 match videos though. is it too weak or somethig?

also, for some reason, when I was messing around with a friend on garou a ton back in spring, I could IB and hitconfirm a lot better than I can in Blazblue. any ideas why? am i just a turkey? the IB window is the same(though more rewarding in Garou..) and there's less hitfreeze im sure.

also, i edited my last post with a little question about cvs2.

hmm i'd have to play garou to be sure. as for cvs2 If i remember correctly they mainly use grooves that only have roll ability in them for roll cancels(making any move you do with a roll have invince frames. invince hadou, invince specials, invince supers, invince errrrthing :OOOOO hard as hell to do though)

I'll check it later on tonight I'm hooked to KH:BbS on my psp right now >_>

No offense taken :P I like Ultras because in some ways they are reminiscent of having the different Supers of 3rd Strike. Except... in 3S even though everyone has 3 supers to choose from, really there is only one thats any good for most people especially the lower tier characters. i.e. Alex. Some people run SA1-Hyper Bomb which is basically a 360 super Tager buster. But because it takes forever to fill up and you get one stock. So you get 3.2 EX moves per bar that you can't use cause you need to save up for the super. Also can't be comboed into. Its difficult to land on a good player. SAIII-Stun Gun Headbutt gives you 2 EX moves with another grab ultra, but it works more like El Fuerte's Ultra 1 Flying Giga Buster or Taokaka's Pounce distortion. Saving that you can just jump out of it. So with Alex the only Super Art that maters is SAII-Boomarang Raid, it gives the most EX-moves (4.8) which are really useful, it has 2 stocks, it charges quickly, its comboable. Chun-Li in SSF4 has 2 great Ultras. U1 is a fireball punish, and U2 is for combos. The revenge system means that if the Chun player outclasses a Ryu player she never gets Ultra 1, just out plays him and wins. If they are more evenly matched, she eventually gains U1 and takes away an entire part of his game and forces him to play footsies, where Chun-Li shines. Its not like its as mindless as people make it out to be. Its scrub-friendly but it creates a pretty good meta-game IMO in a lot of matchups. Having it separate from the Super gauge also means I don't have to choose between my matchup changing tool and my EX moves.

Every groove is used in serious play except S-Groove. There just isn't a good way to charge it in that game. Its not considered to be as strong as the others but, its not trash, dodges are completely invincible from start to finish and can be cancelled into themselves kekeke. This can get wacky.

P-Groove is used by a very small group of people. I think Steve H from East Coast uses it. Its not bad, but it only has 1 stock and parrying is slightly more difficult in that game. It has a smaller window I think.

K-Groove gets a lot of use. It has the Rage Gauge from Samurai Shodown. You can do a lot of damage with it. If you want to read up on the game and its systems check out this FAQ

i hate listening through podcasts, i wish they were all transcribed so I could go through them faster. :(

MORE UMINEKO DETAILS

- Some moves can be dash-canceled, but it costs you your Touch gauge.

- The taunt restores some of your HP.

- Beato's Infinity SP ability allows you to cast ONE SP super for free.

- Same goes for Lucifer's Attack Touch: no more than one free Attack Touch per ability activation.

- Shannon's Auto Guard allows for guard dashes.

- Virgilia's Brimful recovers SP for both of your characters.

General stuff

-Game uses 3 attack buttons, one Touch button, and an Appeal button (seems to be a taunt).

-Doing an Appeal slightly recovers HP.

-There are 3 lifebars and no second round, so if you get KO'd that's it.

-Press all attack buttons to activate the metaworld.

-You can dash cancel, tech throws, and tech your falls.

Touch

-Switches characters and reduces your Break Gauge and stun.

-There are 5 kinds of Touching.

-Normal Touch: The active character taunts and switches with his/her partner. Activates the ability of the character that tagged out and costs no SP.

-Attack Touch: Touch during an attack, and your partner comes in with an attack to continue attacking. No SP needed.

-Guard Touch: Touch while guarding to switch characters while blocking. Uses 1 SP.

-Damage Touch: Touch while getting hit to break the combo, send the opponent flying back to the other side of the screen and switch characters. Uses 2 SP.

-Assault Touch: Qcf+Touch to do an invincible "tackle" that switches characters and knocks down the opponent. Uses 2 SP.

Meta World (if any of the names sound weird blame Google)

-As said before, it's activated by pressing all attack buttons.

-Activates both of your characters' abilities and allows you to use your meta special for no cost while it's active.

-Meta Declaration: Uses 1 SP and requires the Meta Gauge to glow red.

-Meta Return: Used after a declaration, uses 2 SP and depletes the opponents Meta Gauge.

-Meta Redeploy: Used after a return to activate the meta world again, uses 2 SP and reduces your Meta Gauge by 25% of what it originally was.

-Meta Surrebutal: Used after a redeploy, uses 3 SP to deplete the Meta Gauge again.

-Meta Forcing: Used after a surrebutal, uses 2 SP to activate the meta world again and reduces your Meta Gauge by 50% of what it originally was.

Character Abilities

-Activated with a Normal Touch or with the Meta World.

-Ushiromiya Battler: "Resurrection", slightly recovers HP over time.

-Beatrice: "Infinity SP", it's pretty much what it sounds like.

-Ushiromiya Ange: "Stun Boost", increases the stun of your attacks.

-Lucifer: "Attack Touch" use Attack Touches without consuming your Touch Gauge.

-Shannon: "Auto Guard", exactly what it says.

-Kanon: "Silent Attack", reduces the SP your opponent gets from your attacks.

-Virgilia: "Brimful", increases the SP of both of your characters.

-Ronove: "Counter Boost", increases the damage of counter hits.

-Eva Beatrice: "Berserk", increases your attack power.

-Siesta/Chiester 410: "Break Boost", increases guard break damage.

i still love how you gain meter for your reserve character instead of your point character. METER MANAGEMENT: THE GAME

Hey guys, I'm new to this forum but I'm usually on the SRK companion to this DFW thread. I hold weekly gatherings at my place in Fort Worth and we are trying to reach out to the BB/GG community. Cheebz and one of his buddies came by one time and brought his modded PS2 to play some games and had a lot of fun (I hope). I also modded Cheebz' stick to play on just about every console. Just wanted to let you guys know about it. Call or Text me 832-545-8098 or look on the SRK DFW thread here: http://shoryuken.com/f25/dtx-thread-version-5-1-a-118738/#post3318291
