purify Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 Super http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cBKcmg0c2bU So many projectiles!
Roskistrike Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 Super Krull is strong zoning. Ehyo thanks Blitaknium Manbeast. I'll let you know when I pick up the game; I'll def be paying more attention to it tomorrow at the gathering.
TITANIUM BEAST!!! Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 Cool. So if anyone is doing anything within about an hour drive of durham today, lemme know.
purify Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 I'm sitting on a fan that's drying my apartment half an hour away from Durham. Jon...you think you could ride me up to the airport before you go into work on Wednesday? My flight leaves at 12:50 so you would just have to start your day 30 minutes or so earlier than usual. No pressure if you can't...I'm just trying to find options.
TITANIUM BEAST!!! Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 Soooo, how wet/dry is your apartment? We could do games/food, if people were up for it.
purify Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 It's not actually...bad at all, but not where I'd like to host anything just from how the furniture has to be arranged. Just going to play RPGs and watch speed runs and stuff today.
Villainous Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 Brent, we usually get out really late it seems so I usually need to get as much time as possible for sleep. See if you can find someone else to give you a ride and if not I'll see what I can do.
purify Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 lol second page again A post: I've never played an MMO.
Smurvis Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 I've only played 2. Phantasy Star Online for Dreamcast (dammit why can't it be 2001 again) was so much fun that I got it again on GameCube, as well as Diablo 2. Those games made me eventually try FFXI and WoW for a bit. Didn't care much for those two games, but WoW was definitely the more fun of the two. I prefer the MMO-esque games like PSO and Diablo 2 vs actual MMOs though. Usually they have more action-based gameplay instead of generic ass auto-attack + cooldown timer abilities. Also they're usually just like 4-6 people in an instanced world/lobby instead of people running all over the place with a central auction house + fucked up economy because of goldsellers. I'm looking forward to Diablo 3.
ryucross Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 MMOs are all about who you play with. I wouldn't have made it as long as I did in WoW had I not been playing with Dale, Jon and Daniel. Right now the only people I know that are playing MMOs are the FFXI addicts. Of course, I might crack out again when Phantasy Star Online 2 hits next year.
Smurvis Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 Brent, Castlevania Lords of Shadow is amazing. I can see why they said it felt more like Street Fighter than God of War. There aren't really any big Square Square Square Triangle Triangle Triange combos in the game like in God of War. It's all a bunch of smaller combos that are either button sequences, holding a button, or hitting two buttons back to back really fast. You can hit Square to start a combo, or hit Square and then immediately hit X to jump cancel it into a launcher into an air combo into a spike into anything ground combo or relaunch. If Gabriel was in HnK he would start every fight with a Fatal KO and all his matches would be 10-0, including Gabriel/Gabriel. Basically you can mix and match anything into anything else at anytime for any reason. Everything cancels into everything which then cancels back into itself. Also, in addition to dodge they have an air stomp that functions as both a dive kick and an air dodge. This game is fucking amazing. Ron, PHANTASY STAR ONLINE 2?! WHAAAAAAAAT?
ryucross Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 http://kotaku.com/5640940/who-wants-some-phantasy-star-online-2
Smurvis Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 And Matt yells at me for not practising fighting games NOW......................... </kriskelley>
Frank The Tank Posted October 5, 2010 Author Posted October 5, 2010 We lost Q, and next year we lose Jimmy...WTFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF Anyways, while we still have Jimmy (and his lack of option selects), we're playing games on Wednesday at my place starting at around 6:30. Let me know if you're interested in getting bounced around the screen by a staff wielding prostitute.
Roskistrike Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 I'm with Brent. Diablo II doesn't really count, does it? Ugh why not Thursday.
Villainous Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 Man I'm gonna suck at games now, I'm never gonna get to play again lol. Well I already sucked so I guess it's not much of a transition. I liked Phantasy Star online for the GC a lot myself. I used to skip high school and play it with my friends. Then I skipped a lot of college to play WoW. I see a trend here. IMO best MMOs I've played: WoW (too much of a time eater though, awesome game design, fun gameplay, ULTRA TIME SINK. People get addicted for a reason though) Phantasy Star (fun casually but it's repetitive. Probably a good game just to play with friends) DFO (Great gameplay and fresh idea somewhat hurt by them wanting to make a profit off of stuff that should have been free, and unbalanced classes, still great though) Diablo 2 (too dark for me but I liked the idea of it. It's just kind of boring after a while, crawling around in the dark) Blade and Soul is like the ideal MMO from what I hear. Action based combat with air combos and shit, platforming, wall running, super beautiful world, lots of titties everywhere, and fresh class ideas. I'm sure they'll find a way to fuck it up somehow but it really does look like the best MMO ever made so far. My prediction.... grind fest and poor localization. Diablo 3.... I'll play the shit out of too.
purify Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 Yeah. I played Diablo 2, but it wasn't really an MMO...that game is like Final Fight versus demons with equipment. I hardly ever played it online, and when I did, I would see wack-ass shit like people getting hacked and killed in towns I want to try that Korean one Jon is talking about, it looked pretty nice. Jimmy: the game doesn't even have hearts. What the hell? I played the demo on the hardest difficulty they would let you, and it seemed like enough of a challenge...I think I died a few times getting used to things.
Villainous Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 lol seriously, if you want Final Fighter vs demons with equipment... play Dungeon Fighter. That's almost an exact description of the game. Just an example of some of the gameplay: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t1W9tDVOYGo&feature=related Been trying to get people on it for a while. I still play it a lot. Actually come to think of it, there's a blind swordsman class that's all about zoning and long range sword attacks... that'd be perfect for you! http://wiki.dfo-world.com/index.php?title=Asura
Frank The Tank Posted October 5, 2010 Author Posted October 5, 2010 Ugh why not Thursday. We could do Thursday, although it wouldn't be able to start until later. I'm not sure what Jimmy's or James's schedules are like, though. Speak up plz.
Smurvis Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 Thursday I will be back in Greenville by around 4 PM. I can play until around 1 AM if we do Thursday.
RoboCurse Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 MMOs are all about who you play with. I wouldn't have made it as long as I did in WoW had I not been playing with Dale, Jon and Daniel. Right now the only people I know that are playing MMOs are the FFXI addicts. Of course, I might crack out again when Phantasy Star Online 2 hits next year. lol I barely played with you guys, I was being dumb.
purify Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 Hey Jon...so I never found anybody else for my ride. If you want to pick me up, let me know, otherwise I'm planning on using the bus tomorrow.
