We already know we're probably the worst region in terms of skill in fighting games. Why? Fuck, I wish I knew. Also, I agree that Ramsey is great at putting dumb niggas on blast when it's needed.

Anybody interested in some sessions at my place on Sunday(the 21st)? I live in the elk grove area (elk grove blvd and waterman to be exact). I got one ps3 setup (could be 2), one ps2 setup, and one stick (few pads lyin around). Lookin for a legit interest in attending, and for anybody who knows me it's just a "wateverthefuckyouwant" type of session. Whether it's BB, GG, HnK, SSFIV, or whatever manly game it is people play now a days (anyone play Jojo's???). For those who live close enough, i could pick you up (maybe, just maybe.... ).

Definitely hit me up on AIM with any questions, I'm tryin to start a regular gathering.

Are there gonna be BB casuals at NCR?

No, but go there for Kof XIII. Ask Gibly if you can record some matches. Honestly, it might be the next game you want to play. Wear an Iplaywinner shirt and tell Coopa sent you.

So I got work off tomorrow so I'm going to be able to stay later at NCR. So I could bring me set-up for BB if people want and if I'd actually be able to use it.

Nah, I can't make it, I was just wondering if there was any BB there at all. And I don't do other games you know that =w=

Plus with this weather and that long of a ride I couldn't do it..

My theory is that it's caused by the relative concentration of players. The west coast is very suburban. Especially in California, there's a lot of space between groups of players. East Coast (as I understand it) is more heavily concentrated, and more urban; cities back up to one another for pretty much that entire side of the country. Especially in and around major metropolitan areas (read: New York) there are likely to be many players in close proximity to one another. I of course, could be wrong about this; I don't read the east coast threads, and I've never been there.

The same theory applies to Japan, of course. As I'm sure we're all aware, Japan is an extremely dense country. On top of that, Japan also still has a decent arcade scene.

How this actually relates to player skill: it's all in who you play with, and who you practice with. If you have a larger pool of players to practice against, you're going to be a better player. Simple as that.

That's my thinking, anyway.

People just need to travel period and stop playing with their own pool of players or even netplay. Playing over the net is fine and all but there's some things that playing only net will teach you. Playing with the same people each tourny also stales the tournament because people can't get better with the same people at the top. Case in point is when DW came down or when SoCal came up to play. You can really see the flaws in your game or make major improvements by playing different people. By not having more character variety or even player base you stagnant and reach the furthest you can go because you'll see the same patterns in people or the same tactics used over and over. If you want to be better then play better people and play them whenever and where ever they are.

Wait, are people actually taking Zidane seriously? Norcal/Socal is some of the best American BB. Lol.

Kijiyama makes a strong point. While we may have some very good players, we also seem to have a very stagnant community. The same 3 or 4 people win every ranbat. The order might change around every week, but overall there's very little movement. You could argue that this means everyone is getting better at the same rate, but I doubt it; I think it means that no one is really learning anything.

True story: I have a group of friends I play BlazBlue with on a fairly regular basis (not right now actually; school happened). I used to think I was pretty good. I'd win fairly regularly, and I had a couple decent bread and butters down. I decided to go out to the tournament at Drom's last month because it wasn't ridiculously far away. Long story short: I got wrecked. Hard. It wasn't like I expected to do well, being my first tournament and all, but the degree to which I got destroyed was utterly ridonculus. Playing casuals later in the day my opponent says to me "You should probably start using pokes." Embarrassing, but I can deal with that for the sake of my point: when you only play with the same people, these weaknesses don't occur to you.

I guess not using pokes can be indicative of a much deeper level of retardation, but oh well.

socal is good at gg because they have three arcades (ai, ffa, denjin) to meet up and play at.

what do we have in norcal? svgl? sjsu? sfsu? davis? starbase (lol)? keystone (lmao)? we don't even have an arcade as good as ffa, and ffa is ghetto as hell.

east coast can be just as sprawled out as cali (actually, moreso in some areas). the difference is that ec has more regular gatherings and strangely enough, more arcades. ctf isn't the best arcade on the planet, but it beats the hell out of svgl, that's for sure. then i know there's places like xanadu games which is just a place where people bring console setups and play whenever (effectively an arcade, more or less).

compared to what we have in norcal, even a ghetto arcade like ctf would be a godsend. but, hopefully we'll have gamecenter ex sooner rather than later.

and alec, i'd say norcal is no better than most other regions in gg right now. bb we're behind northwest and texas but that's it.

lol at qwerty for thinking its the lack of arcades that makes norcal suck / socal better. you guys should probably stop trying to make excuses for why other regions are better. its just the simple fact that 90% of the player base doesn't seem to really want to get better nor realize just how much they are lacking. In gg.

looks like Im not going to NCR, as soon as I mentioned SSFIV to my brother...He was like "Awww.....goddammit,no."

I understand his reaction. SF4's a terribad game. Also, is Umineko a good show? I got bored after the first episodes, with all of the trolling and countertrolling involved. Higurashi was the same, but I actually enjoyed watching that one. I am hype for another "poverty" fighting game though. I hope that my laptop can run it.
