crossposting from the Norcal Dogfight thread...

Hey this is kinda short notice but it's been suggested that we run a week later instead so Dogfight would coincide with the PS3 GGAC release. I don't mind but what does everyone else think?

I think its better to have it a week later since there may be some people going to socal for xievolution for p4u. At the same time you can get more people into gg since it would have released on 360 and ps3. I think that is a good decision except I might not be there. orz

For anyone who missed it on the Dogfight thread, I have decided to move Dogfight to October 27th which is next Saturday, not this Saturday.

Hey. Not having internet at home sucks. What's even worse, not being able to get a job or go to school. What's worse than that is there are no GG/P4A/BB/KOF players in Sac. And I mean that as there are 2-4 of us, but everyone else tried for only the first 2 weeks then went back to dumbass Umvc3 again. Yes, everyone only plays Marvel anymore, but most still play AE, just because it's a Capcom game. And I somehow live too far for anyone in the same city to bother to try coming over to. Just like KOF13...;_; Well, I just wanted to see what's up. I really wish I lived near Gamecenter/Southtown.

Fear not! GGAC on PSN/XBL seem to have pretty good connection results if you are within the same state (AND ARE NOT ON WIRELESS!)

Hopefully the US release will come out soon. I want to buy the JP PSN version but I also want to support GG in America which probably won't happen with the former.

諸君!

十年前から引退したの特別のお客さんのために、この日曜日、私はゲームセンターでギルティギアの研究会予定がある。

彼は英語をあまりしゃべないので、これぐらいが分かるなら、ぜひ来てください。

I can't read Japanese, but that's what the internet is for right?

Google Translate says:

"Would embarrass the cold. Sorry, this state can not move. Although I was extremely looking forward to, please let me change the dates. Thank you from the wind has a different cure schedule."

When it comes, scheduled for tomorrow has been discontinued

...k, I'm gonna make a few assumptions. You were going to host a gathering at some point but you got a cold and in your current state can barely move. You will be rescheduling it to a day in which you aren't sick, and maybe apologized for the inconvenience.

Either that, or Ernest is secretly some kind of land deity trying not to embarass some other kind of weather god. Which means, realistically, Ernest is trying to score a date?

Man, fuck Google Translate.

Don't worry bro, I got this.

「ごめんなさい。風邪をこじらせてしまい、動けない状態です。ものすごく楽しみにしていたのですが、日程を変更させてください。別日程は風邪が治ってからでお願いします。」

となると、明日の予定が中止された

"Sorry. The pleasure has gotten worse. To the point where I can no longer move. I was looking forward to pleasure, but please schedule it for another day. A day where I am no longer feeling pleasure, please.

This means, tomorrow's pleasure session has been canceled."

Hey guys, wanted to point out this post. Seems like 360 is slightly 'superior' to PS3 in that it is PS2 perfect. It's not arcade perfect (which is 2 frame input delay), but is 4 frame input delay, while PS3 has generally about 5 frames (and apparently has some slowdown, though I can't say for sure since I've never played on PS3). This probably means we'll want to use 360's for most, if not all of our GG setups in the future. I know, converting for it is ass, and for one frame difference it's probably not really worth it, but I thought I'd point it out.

Also, I'm gonna try to go to the thing on friday at Gamecenter. Come on out if you wanna play some games.

The real question is how important or relevant this information will be when +R comes out... also I'll be working so I can't come to Gamecenter.

Hey NorCal, what's up!

I'm trying to get in touch with anyone in the area interested in getting into the KoF rookie tournament that'll be held on January 4th, a week away! This is open for all unranked players. What that means is if you've never made top 5 at any local tournament or top 16 at any major, you're eligible.

The prize pot is $100+ and the location is Milpitas Golfland. Venue is 8 dollars, but that's all you have to pay. Looking forward to seeing people show up!

Just think of it like SFIV. A lot of events choose to run the less "arcade perfect" PS3 version because of other reasons. In our case it's convenience for streaming, cause GC has mostly PS3 setups, and cause everyone has PS3 controllers. In SFIV's case, it's most often probably cause of Evo.

From what I understand from reading that thread:

PS2: 4F (CRT)

XBox: 4F (CRT) 5-6(LCD) (In our case, 5F because we use LCDs with sub-1F display lag).

PS3: 3F (CRT) 4-5 (LCD) (In our case 4F because we use LCDs with sub-1F display lag).

So it would make more sense to me to run PS3 GG specifically because we (usually) have at least a couple of PS2 setups running on CRT AND the fact that the majority of players are used to 4F (due to PS2s).

Furthermore, if we wanted to play GG through Xbox through a CRT (4F), we would have to output at 480i. Running 480i GG on Xbox would be exactly the same thing as running off of PS2s since both would require a CRT to be at 4F.

That would defeat the entire purpose of playing on an HD system other than being compatible with Xbox controllers.

So, unless I'm understanding something wrong here, that thread is pointing us clearly in the direction of using PS3/PS2 exclusively as Xbox360 would be either 480i interlaced or 720p w/an extra frame of lag - neither of which is very desirable.

And yes, I am aware that there exist CRTs that support 720p, but that opens up an entirely new can of worms and to make a long story short: no, we're not going that route either.
