xS-1x Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 well this sucks... turns out I won't be able to make it after all. Oh well, if people go during the weekend I might be able to make it out then, but that's iffy at best.
Shining Aquas Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 randomly came across some godlike match video of Wing Zero for Shining Aquas https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tNeeT4cNJAs Wow, okay. Boost dash cancelling stops the entire beam shot namely cancelling out the beam, but not with dash cancelling. However, in the video he was doing jump cancels instead, which is not something I understand. Is he doing a dash cancel and immediately hopping to get that result? Also, thank you, I learned a few things outside the weird cancel.
Dakanya Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 The release of P4U is almost here which means a new surge of players and to meet that demand, we need more events! With that said, I'd like to ask how many people would want to come play P4U at Norcal Dogfight and what kind of event they would like to see? We could run double-elim singles or it could be what we do for Guilty Gear now e.g. danisen and unique events such as 2on2 Waseda, 3on3 SBO-pokemon style, big team battles (civil war), kumite, etc. Just as a reminder, Norcal Dogfight is every third Saturday so that means it will be the week after NCI in August. The upcoming Norcal Dogfights are on July 21 and August 18.
Aginor Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 I would support this and I think just an event would be nice. I would like to see a danisen or team tournaments would be pretty interesting.

Although, I was under the impression P4U was going to be more Norcal Install territory than Dogfight.

Well it seems like there are going to be a lot of P4U players who will be hungry and although Norcal Dogfight is currently only Gundam and Guilty Gear, it's really up to the players. There are a bunch of us who are interested in P4U and who have already played it and think it's fun. As long as any game is fun and there will be overlap, I don't see why not. We don't use the cabs anyways since Guilty Gear is on CRTs. Also now would be a pretty great time to start a danisen series as everyone's going to be a beginner and it should be a lot of fun.

haketh Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 What are some decent spots around San Francisco open to a newer guy like me? Just recently moved down here for Advanced at Job Corp.
Dakanya Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 Gamecenter in San Mateo is where people usually play anime games but I think Southtown is looking to host P4U events as well
Eggs&Rice Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 Shoutouts to Gamecenter and everyone involved who ran the P4A tournament and provided the setups and stream equipments, and shoutouts to everyone who participated. The event was extremely fun, and I hadn't had that much hype since finding out the $1.29 Tuesday deal at Popeyes. I highly encourage everyone to try out this game. If not for competition, at least play it casually.
bestintheworlll Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 How many people would show up to a p4 ranbat at southtown?
Yggjrasil Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 What are some decent spots around San Francisco open to a newer guy like me? Just recently moved down here for Advanced at Job Corp. I hope you're still around for the 24 Hour P4U Charity Event happening next Tuesday at 12am at Gamecenter.
Cobalt Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 Figured I'd post this here--I'm Woody/"Carnegie Guy" from yesterday at Gamecenter. I had a lot of fun, good games to everyone I played. As people may have noticed, I didn't actually know my moveset lol, which is why I was relying on auto combo, all-out attack, and grab gimmicks the whole time. I'll actually do a bit more research before coming by next time.
haketh Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 I hope you're still around for the 24 Hour P4U Charity Event happening next Tuesday at 12am at Gamecenter. I will be, I wanna make it out to that, transit is no problem seeing how I can hop on the bust and then the Limit pretty easy. Only problem is whether I can get the day off and if I get paid this Friday. Wanna show up Early to the event and get in as much as I can.
qwerty Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 As soon as I leave, Norcal starts to suck even more than it usually does.
haketh Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 Might as well take a page out of the Get to Know a Negro Better thread from the Northwest section of SRK and introduce myself here Real names Ian, if you ever go out to Southtown Arcade and see a black dude with a fro and glasses playing Chaos Code or MvC2 that's me. Got my start in the FGC WAAAAAAAYYY back in the day in Seattle with Marvel Super Heroes, VSAV,and KoF 97, my community Center in Raineir Beach had a ton of cabs and people were on those like white on rice. I played alot of SF2: CE on the Genesis with my brother but that was just scrub shit, MSH was when I was really trying to beat people and learn all I could at the young age of 10. Fast forward a few years and I'm grinding ST hard at Wizards *Was a doper place than Gameworks if you ask me* when I leave and head back home before stopping at Southcenter Mall where I see a bunch of niggas huddled around the Marvel 2 and 3S cabs, I always found 3S dope as a kid but never got into it till much later but MvC2 was something I never cared for. Saw it as a really inferior MSH and EXTREMELY 1-Dimensional with no zoning, spacing, or ways to really trap people *Also doesn't help I was salty they based Blackheart off of the shitty MSHvsSF version*, against my judgment at the time I check out whats going on and see a dude playing MSP and the other guy playing BH/Cable/Commando and the sheer amount of space that guy was controlling was insane to me mixing in SJ Demons and calls between Cable and CapCom AAAs and his safe chip setups and just sniping assist with inferno to HoD. I was pretty amazed especially when I saw the BH infinite for the first time but what really got me was seeing him do the infinite, raw tag in Cable and blow the dude away with AHVB, something I had never seen until then. Needless to say from then I was hooked on MvC2 at the Mall, bugging my parents to give me money so I could go out pretty much just to get blown up. Also really started to get into 3S, CvS2, KoF98, Breakers Revenge, and Alpha 2 and into the FGC. I never became a big name or anything, oinly game I could really run the cabs with was VSAV which as time went on it got harder and harder to find people to play it in Tukwila. And to make things worse I ended up moving to Spanaway where my access to competition dropped to 0. That is until I met a fwew guys who introduced me to GG and I was hooked to it for awhile, though I never got to into it, I knew about SRK and had an account but had no knowledge of Dustloop. Played the game in a mad scrubby way but we had fun and we eventually got into Arcana pretty big till we slowly parted ways. For a fw more years I wasn't really playing FGs with anyone but training room till I finally got on Dustloop and met the Wonderful Seattle scene and got into BB a fair bit. The Seattle Capcom scene was cool but the Anime scene was just much more inviting and chill to hang out with, best moment had to be going out to Mt. Raineir with everyone. Looking forward to meeting as many people here in Nor and SoCal and hopefully being able to call more people friend. And take their money of course :bad:
ehuangsan Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 I misplaced my copy of SFAE at NCD. If someone happens to stumble upon it, please let me know.
