I just asked one of my friends to tell me what that article was... that was from March of this year... MARCH. We've heard nothing about balancing for 9 months. Do you know what happened with the BBCT balance patch that they said was going to happen? Oh yeah, it was called BlazBlue: Continuum Shift, it was a whole new game

Yeah, no, I'm done 'debating' this. If you want to continuously deny everything, then I won't bother. So yeah, w/e yo.

Edit: Missed this part:

I got happy that maybe there was a official announcement or something that I didn't get wind of, so I wanted to confirm.
Apologies for this, but unless they retconned the entire conceptualization behind making it for consoles initially, which I'm assuming you're implying, it should still come out much sooner than 6 months AFTER BBCSII for arcades. If anything, at the latest, it would be around January.

The reason I started posting was because someone posted that we should look forward to the balance patch that's being released soon.
ps never said this Edited by Cirno

Multiple sources? What multiple sources? A 9 month old article and a "yes" at an animecon?

I didn't know a 'yes' straight from Mori's mouth wasn't good enough for people. Color me surprised.

The reason I'm in here is because I lurk this thread occasionally and because I'm friends with people from MD/VA.

Didn't know I had to state my reason for posting in a thread. Sorry RadRed. I won't post here ever again.

Alright then. I was honestly just curious and it confused me a little. It's kind of like me posting in the XBL thread when I don't even have a 360 console. No need (at the very least, to pretend) to be offended by what I said. A simple answer would have sufficed, but I guess that's just how things are around Dustloop, huh?

Is what I'm trying to say that difficult to understand?

1). You release arcade version. (BBCT, BBCS)

2). You let the people who bought your $3,000 game make their money back and then make a profit, to you know, stay in business... and so that they buy your games again.

3). You release a console version at a time that you feel that they made the money they need to, and give yourself enough time to code the game for console and localize it. (~1/2 a year)

Why would they make a free balance patch to match BBCS2 changes for BBCS and then release it a month after arcade? That's the worst business model ever. How the hell are they getting their paychecks? Even if they charged ~$40 for the patch then the arcades would still be losing money, which they don't want. What's so hard to understand about that? Is it really that complicated?

We went through this before with BBCT to BBCS: they said they were going to balance it through patches, and they didn't. And this is going to continue until they feel comfortable enough with a version to keep it out longer than a year. Every fighting game does this... are they going to release SSF4 Arcade on consoles a month later through DLC? Fuck no, they're going to milk arcade for all it's worth first. What fighting game in the past has been released on console within a month of hitting the arcades?

Why the hell would arcade owners buy a game for $3,000 when it's going to be released for $40 a week later? Seriously? SERIOUSLY?

I didn't know a 'yes' straight from Mori's mouth wasn't good enough for people. Color me surprised.

What part of '"we've been though this before" don't you understand?

No offense but I have something against people who don't have common sense.

bbcs2 was a console patch (to be released 6 months after the game itself) long before it was confirmed to even be released to the arcades, we'll get it before then

I'll ask again, did either of you play CT? Did we get a balance patch? Were we promised a balance patch? When have console versions been released in respect to arcade?

The answers are simple. There's a trend to all of this that isn't hard to understand, at all.

Right, so, you're saying they're simply going to ignore what they previously said in a documented interview, and then again at a Q&A panel. Or rather, that they currently are. So thus:

unless they retconned the entire conceptualization behind making it for consoles initially, which I'm assuming you're implying, it should still come out much sooner than 6 months AFTER BBCSII for arcades.

is, in fact, what you are implying.

They said it would be released for consoles in 6 months. BBCSII for arcades happened. Re-balance for consoles now delayed or terminated without any sort of word on the matter. Am I getting this right?

Sure, okay. That's fine.

We went through this before with BBCT to BBCS: they said they were going to balance it through patches, and they didn't.
No we didn't? I don't remember this being said at all. Mind if I quote you here? "Source?"

are they going to release SSF4 Arcade on consoles a month later through DLC? Fuck no, they're going to milk arcade for all it's worth first. What fighting game in the past has been released on console within a month of hitting the arcades?

Really though? Last I remember, SSF4 was CONSOLE ONLY, and HAD TO BE RELEASED LATER FOR ARCADES, which is exactly what you're referring to. How can you even bring this up as a point?

Shit fuck, my thread, what is this. Mori and Ishiwatari have both said something was going to happen or they were going to do something, but then nothing happened. They both may hold a lot of influence and power over their respective games, but clearly they aren't the ones who make all the decisions.

December is the month to look out for, right? If no CS2 patch, then I'll just keep trucking with 2k2um and wait for AH3.

If I can get NEC weekend off, then I'll try to go. I guess I'll hang out around AH3 and ST or something.

I just ordered Vanquish. What other games have I missed in the last 5 some years that I should check out? I think there's a shit ton of PSN games I've missed out on. What was that one? Super Star Dust Memories or something?

So who wants to be apart of my 4-man gimmick IP farming team in LoL?

BB sucks.

This post is a return to form. It reminds me of my youth.

this is exactly what i am planning on doing. want ah3 so bad. NEC would be rad to go to, but once more I have no way to get there.

Flower is honestly a really good game for PSN, and I hear Fat Princess and the PixelJunk games are good. There's also Cresent Pale Mist which released recently, but you could get that for free on the internet. also do you mean psn only or ps3 in general

Posted

Yeah, I gotta see what Crescent Pale Mist is about. Manic shooter crossed with run n' gun n' slash?

Any game on any platform that was released in the last 5 years. But I do remember there being a lot of games that were PSN exclusive that I've wanted to try. How have FPS games been since the first UT? Or is the pussyfication of the genre not yet complete?

Posted

An FPS based on Noel would probably be fun. No hit-scan weapons allowed. Primary Fire for all guns is a melee attack. Grazing.

oh. UT3 is pretty fun, and even though Halo gets a lot of hate I hear Halo Reach is actually pretty good. Same with COD Modern Warfare 2, but Black Ops is p much garbage well thats not too fair it's not that bad. Anything other than FPSes? On PS3 there's LittleBigPlanet (platformer) which is infinitely rad and is getting a sequel in January, Valkyria Chronicles (tactical rpg) which has a sequel on PSP and is getting another one, Lost Planet (3rd person shooter, multi-console), etc etc it would be easier to suggest if I knew another genre you were looking for.

it actually originated as a doujin game, and rockinandroid brought it to the PSN which was entirely baller. if you don't mind other doujin games there's a lot of those i could recommend

Stuff

1). Just because they want to release the game for console sooner or later doesn't mean any release date for console is set in stone. Release dates change all the times for games/patches, with and without warning.

2). Just because they said something doesn't mean they'll deliver. We've been holding on dangling by a string in the past... and we still are.

3). Everything CT related has long been archived (or deleted) on this site and it's a pain in the ass to find anything CT related on the internet since we're now on to the third installment. I've been around since CT came to University Pinball 2 years ago... I followed that damn game like it was god's gift to starving GG players. Before CT console release (by this time the game was broken as fuck) we asked if there was going to be a balance patch at some point before the next installment and we were told yes. We heard about BBCS before the word of any patch, and then BBCS was released for arcade... and then ~8 months later we got BBCS for console. You know how many balance updates there were for CT? Do you know how many balance patches there were for CS1?

4). So, answer my question... are they going to release SSF4: Arcade for consoles a month after arcade? Are they going to release BBCS2 for consoles a month after arcade? Stop trying to bring up something totally irrelevant.

SSF4: Arcade = Updated SSF4 with new characters and re-balance.

BBCS2 = Updated BBCS with a new character and re-balance.

After getting and arcade updated they're two totally different games, so what does the previous version being console (or ONLY console) have to do with it?

4r5, pleeeeeeeeeeease come to NEC. Make that shit happen.

AH3 wasn't fun to play.

BB sucks... for now at least.

No offense but I have something against people who don't have common sense.

Nice to know that a guy can't ask a question around here without having the implication that they're an idiot forced on to them. It probably wasn't right for me to ask such a question of you, but I honestly did not mean any harm and therefore I think your response was rather uncalled for.

As for the balance patch discussion/debate, I think I'm just going to bow out of it because I don't really feel like it would go anywhere at this point.

Sesshyru: "Yo, Pat, you ever gona go to a turni? What about NEC?"

4r5: "Sure. You gona pay for me tho?"

Sesshyru: :wtf:

4r5: "Well, nobody plays the games that I wana play. Why'm gona go then?"

So the dude accepts his title as Red Shirt Guy? Good shit.
