4r5 Posted December 21, 2010 Author Posted December 21, 2010 nottingham md? you're actually pretty close to a lot of potential action
DoktorSleepless Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 I had no idea! No one really publicizes these events outside of forums like this, and I only recently (this summer) found the online fighter scene.
Cirno Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 If the MD dustloop thread was representative of MD, then a third of Maryland don't even live in Maryland and another third don't even play fighting games regularly. And the last third I haven't seen for months. Don't lose to online strats. yeah, i understand, but it would be convenient if the MD thread had other people from maryland who actually cared about doing a thing. i know there's a ton of people with MD in their location, i'm assuming this thread is too intimidating???? i'll try to go to xanadu some time in january, not the monthly though since that's the same time as magfest. december is not a good month for gas money
Avion Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 kool kidz klub maryland thread. lol is now poverty
mikenapalm Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?10709-Body-Shop-Saturdays-Blackwood-NJ-Casuals-Event-Every-Month&p=886197#post886197 GG tournament in South Jersey next month. Gogogo!
4r5 Posted December 21, 2010 Author Posted December 21, 2010 (edited) Same day as Xanadu January tournament... Which is also the same day as magfest, which I didn't think there was much overlap, but what do I know in this new age of SUPER STREET FIGHTER FOUR!! i'm assuming this thread is too intimidating???? Fighting games are intimidating! !!!! I had no idea! No one really publicizes these events outside of forums like this, and I only recently (this summer) found the online fighter scene. Online scene oxymoron anyways, you're going to want to get familiar with Xanadu. Location in the first post. And I say potentially because if you play BlazBlue, getting BB players to come out has proven pretty difficult. But any other game, you can find atleast a couple of above-average to world-class players. Except SF4, from which you will suffer the MD new-game option-select: "Yo, ugh! I don't even play this game, niggaaaaa!!" Edited December 21, 2010 by 4r5

St1ckBuG Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Does Xanadu still get a crappy turnout? Serious question, not trolling. Driving 3 hours so I can watch people play board games and be emo about fighting games isn't worth it. Lack of GG setups sucked too.
Lord Orx Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Lots of overlap that weekend. Too bad it's all trumped by a gun show...
4r5 Posted December 21, 2010 Author Posted December 21, 2010 November Xanadu was kinda crappy, numbers wise. Only SSF4 and ST happened. But the ST turnout was good and there was a bit of 2k2um action as well. SSF4 turn out was kinda weak. GG didn't happen, not did it happen the month before. At the rate GG is going, we might as well just have it be a Steve H vs Matt C money month. You know MD and them new games. But if you wanna run them old games, MD got your back. December turn out might be better, winter break and all. But who knows. A lot of og MD gg players are some combination of not liking AC, life, or AC feels funny. New blood is scarce. If you all are coming down, then I'll put in my notice for that week end, and you at least have me and Steve H+Matt C and my two setups. So I hear it's going to snow saturday and sunday. Winter please stop cock blocking my days off. I guess if that happens, I'll troll #r online.
DoktorSleepless Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 I'll definitely make it down there for the 15th. I don't have work on the weekends. I might even drop by some other weekends.
4r5 Posted December 21, 2010 Author Posted December 21, 2010 What's exact date for next Xanadu? January, 15th (it's in the first post ;_
bmore303 Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 I dunno I'll try to make a Wednesday in January some time since I'll be at Magfest. Like said previously...getting the BB people to stop playing online is mind numbingly difficult. Probably have to promise them money and bitches for a prize. Next time I'm there I'll scrub it in SSFIV and run some AH 3 by then. I'll make sure to not be sober if it's dead again too
4r5 Posted December 22, 2010 Author Posted December 22, 2010 i'm going to head up to xanadu today anyone who can get themselves to me want a ride? i get off work at 4pm. going to leave xanadu at midnight
Cirno Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 Fighting games are intimidating! !!!! this is a true thing this thread is just one big rekka that some people can't mash hard enough

I'll make sure to not be sober if it's dead again too Just to make a point about this: When I actually did a BB tournament at Xanadu, almost every Maryland PSN player I know showed up and played and a few of the 360 guys that I've seen post on Dustloop. I believe there was only 1 person who I think was from MD or at least "the area", that didn't make it since I guess they were busy I can't remember. Not only did "we" show up, we had 3 setups, and had I believe the 2nd most people in the tournaments only behind SF4 by like 6 players or something. Considering the negative stigma in MD for BB, and "online players", I'd say we did alright by comparison. But....it was just that one time, but probably the only time recently that there was a PLANNED BB tournament for people to show up to, at least to my knowledge. Just saying.

Now if only you guys would like... continue to keep running it locally. Most people would kill for a venue to run games at. I mean, if they're keeping it casual, cool... but it kind of defeats the point of talking about serious strategy if you're just eating TV Dinner.
