West Coast Canada IV: "Ah yes, 'Guilty Gear' - we have already dismissed that game!"

My team is like day 2 MVC2 tactics. Yes, I said 2. Wesker unfortunately does not come with Ourobouros. Well actually he does in RE5 but that's a virus and not an orb super.

Wesker is scrubby but his teleports aren't godly on their own. The game isn't 1v1v1v1v1v1, it's 3v3.

If it were really 1v1v1v1v1v1, then wesker and chris would lose to zero and ammy.

Chris requires more thinking from me than the rest of my team. But that is why playing an easy mode top tier character is fun. There are a lot of fun mixups I do with Wesker that I implement in Chris' game as well.

Has the legendary Steve-o showed up at any MvC3 events yet?

Or is he still restricted to trolling only BB events.

There has got to be a set theory/topology/regime change joke in there.

oh shi-

STALLMAN will be coming to visit UPenn

Sadly, I think trying to find ways to troll him has become an exponentially difficult problem due to the difficulty of finding novel results in the largely exhausted search space

you should ask him if the term open source has adequately described his vision of free software, the answer probably would be no but it would be novel to hear his explanation in person, especially if he dressed up in his jesus costume. please make him do his visit in his jesus costume.

M7.4 earthquake just happened off the coast of Miyagi, about 10 minutes. kinda scary, too, i was in the shower! there's even a tsunami warning and advisory (up to 1m in some places).

Posted

Man when I heard the news I thought it was a recap or the events at first. What's with all these earthquakes. Scary thought for us too since Vancouver is suppose to be due for a big one really soon.

Posted

when a strong earth quake comes, we have Mike's strong rooted condo and maybe we can go out in time to play baseball.

when a strong tsunami comes, you better be making baller friends who live on high-rise buildings.

and then, we roll up.

isn't the earth beneath Vancouver (or Richmond?) going to sink quite a bit should an earthquake happen? i heard the ground there is really soft.

I heard about that about Richmond... something about the ground will sink when an earthquake hits because humans artificially put ground there.

Hey does anyone know how arcade cabinets are put together (not just the box, but the system and games... etc)? I'm thinking of eventually putting together an GG:AC cabinet at some point but I have no idea where to start.

I was looking on ebay for ideas... the closest thing I could find was an atomiswave HnK cartridge going for $279. I'd assume I'd need the "system," or motherboard... which is going for $250. It looks like the motherboard would plug into some other things (like sticks and monitor and all that)... but I have no idea what else I would need. I'm almost tempted to just get both cartridge and motherboard, and just figure everything out later on (because holy shit, HnK would be a sick arcade cabinet to own).

HnK rom:

System:

System (with a game):

I found some empty cabinets on ebay too, shipping from Richmond. I wonder if the motherboard just connects to the cabinet?? Anyone know?

Cabinet:

Anyway, as sweet as it would be to own an HnK cabinet, I'd still like to eventually own a GG cabinet. I'm going to guess Atomiswave is an outdated system for AC.

richmond is fucked if a tsunami gets around the island, which is also fucked for sure

richmond is literally like at or below sea level for the most part, there's nothing stopping that water from rolling in

rip hongers

at vancouver we have quite a bit of leeway since as long as you live above marine drive you're already like 50m above sea level

rofl peter if i am such a scrub just say so man i don't need shitty tasteless songs to get the point, just don't forget the lyrics, ill be sure to sing it to you man when your moment comes :) DA NA NA DA NA NA

idk if he still posts here, but Gwyrgyn Blood would've been the guy to ask. maybe you can ask the Northwest guys, too: I think Spark was the one who bought and set up a BB CT or CS cab for them. he would at least probably give you some starting advice.

Mathematically inclined ppl (i.e. Stefan):

There's a paper I'm implementing that references what seems to be an outer/tensor product of two vectors. That's one thing. But then the divergence of that result is taken, and I have no idea how I'm supposed to do that.

Je5Je.png

(the red underlined stuff)

Now, in the case of discretized divergence over a grid, you can simply take the difference of velocities at grid cells to compute divergence. But I have no idea how this works for the matrix result of this tensor operation. Even in a non-discretized setting, how would that work? The vectors are usual (i,j,k) velocity vectors in typical space defined by the XYZ-axes.

Posted

Ok I get how it works in the continuous setting, but the discretized version of it still is not solid in my head.

Anyway, Stallman's picture that he requests to be used on posters advertising his presence makes him appear to be clothed in beard when gazed upon from a distance. It's as funny as it is disturbing.
