Wolverine anime: Shittiest fucken thing I've ever seen. Truly only the japs can manage to ruin Marvel.

Have you seen the Iron Man anime? That one actually looked pretty cool. All I remember about the Wolverine trailer was that Wolverine looked nothing like Wolverine.

we watched the first Ironman episode at Mike's place... it wasn't good enough to watch the rest, I felt.

I like the new XMEN anime though.

So there was that not-terribly-good Wolverine anime, which I thought had one very funny/clever point: Wolverine was not short compared to the other characters. Either this was an incredibly astute insight by the design crew (doubtful considering how dull the action in it was), or simply playing on the fact that probably nobody in Japan knows nor cares about Wolverine.

In the XMEN anime, Wolverine is HUGE. He's always been a muscular guy, but now he's got huge arms and is really tall (I think he's taller than everybody except Beast now!).

Cyclops is all prettied up. That his grieving over Jean has thus turned him into the role of emo pretty boy is hilarious.

Beast's face.... is that how he looks in the comics now? I can't say I like it.

Iron Man anime sucked. Wolverine was kinda okay, except that they had to Japify everything. Make everything "law of bushido" and turning Wolverine into a pussy. Also unlike in the original Marvel comic where they actually have a wedding ceremony attended by the Emperor of Japan, here it ends with her dying to "protect" him and Wolverine holding her dead body over a cliff while the sunsets and gives a "YURIAAAAAAA" scream. Fucken lame.

So Syria is exploding right now.

What's going on in the middle east? It's like non-stop revolution there or something. And it's no Prague Spring ended by tanks, either.

By the end of this calendar year, who knows what the middle east is going to look like. It's crazy times!

I don't want to be gone ~~

That's what I'm counting on.

Not gonna take my freedom.

E: also Mortal Kombat didn't work out, not that I give a shit about anyway. Unless any of us is really a fan and buys a real copy.

Portal 2 recap: so what's the top 3 or .. top 1 predicament that you ever come across scratching your head for a good 10 mins plus throughout the game?

for me, there were a lot but it's hard to literally describe accurately the rooms, or maybe it's because I'm always playing late night in super-exhausted condition.

Posted

The last or second to last room where you spawn with an excursion funnel and a button to reverse the flow, and I couldn't figure out for the life of me how to cross the gap. Then I figured it out and felt like a retard.

Posted

yes, shot the ground like a retard and then shot the walls around the gel tunnel to portal, but I was a retard who couldn't figure out how to get rid of all the machine guns.

also the very last big room where you get both reflection box and normal box replaced on higher grounds without portalable surfaces, stuck for a while.

and a room with all three kinds of gel dripping all the time, took long enough for me to figure ways to pave out the conversion gels.

I'm going to be in the southeast this Summer; Virginia, actually.

I'm going to be in a town that has a smaller population than the either of the two universities I've been in (<30k), but has a median income of about $85k (evidently, a ton of lawyers live here and take it as a suburb of DC). Also, the asian population is like 14.3%, which is nearly triple that of Philadelphia's (5.5%), but since the place has literally 1/60 of philly's population, the number of asian people in philly alone outnumbers the number of ppl in Fairfax about 3.5:1. UPenn is also located on what seems to be a "thin asian line" (replace "asian" with a color for obligatory casually racist humor) in philly, so the proportions here are kind of jacked.

Obviously this means that I'm going to get caught up in small-town intrigues while working on MMOs; it will be a fascinating study in the themes of being a stranger in a crowd: on one hand, the place is utterly un-metropolitan compared to the places I have been used to living in, with cultural divides that will drive me into isolation. At the same time, my daily work will be involved in systems where there are a few hundred thousand people actively socializing and playing. The town is not a terribly high-tech one compared to tech villages like the universities or Vancouver, but it does contain many educated people due to its proximity to DC. This schizophrenic life will be described in the upcoming magic realist novel, "40k Years of Solitude".
