geogaddi Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 i started playing oblivion again in eager anticipation and hype building for SKYRIM and man this game is fucking huge, the world, that is
Saru Kada Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 SSSUUUZZIIIEEEE SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT no man suzie has a DEGREE yeah, oblivion is huge, it's a very white man thing, unlike jrpgs. mmm storytelling vs sandboxing hahaha bear traps on floating enemies, those wraiths must have the faust air hitbox. speaking of jedi knight, I remember the silliness of force pull mechanics in some of the later games, like jkja. if you force pulled someone while falling from a great height (there was one big canyon level that was perfect for this) it was very much FLY AWAY.
BagLunch Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 greatness of bear traps knows no limits So there's a part where you and a buddy have to fight another crustacean monster. Your buddy tanks some hits while you plant bear traps Eventually crustacean switches aggro to you Crustacean walks onto stacked bear traps and loses half its life Do it again and crustacean dies Later you fight a big evil villain dude who has powers comparable to yours I try hacking away at him, but it's really ineffective because he can invoke the same shield spell you can, he can block hits, and he has assloads of HP I throw bombs at him but they don't do enough dmg and I don't have enough bombs to kill him So instead, while he's casting spells or doing big attack animations I've avoided, I plant bear traps Damage of my sword: like 15-21, good chance of causing a damage over time effect. But damage is 100% blocked by shield, blockable by plain blocking, and combo breaker blocking means you usually can't get more than a few hits in. Damage of a bear trap: like 40-60, unblockable, goes through the shield. That's right, bear traps are no less than 3x as effective as your sword, probably more when taking into account how much easier it is to deal that damage. goddamn bear traps

BagLunch Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 Salty Tears I'm surprised that I know that Danish metal band. Then again, I know it because its music was used in a Jojo's Bizarre Adventure video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tzHfS44AZrc

BagLunch Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 Arm wrestling in Witcher 2 is awesome for a totally buggy reason in the game's second chapter. Everybody you need to arm wrestle during the day sits in front of a campfire. When you go into conversation with them, you get teleported in front of them, which means you get teleported on top of the campfire. This sets you on fire, which may not be apparent during your initial conversation with them, but is evident the moment you start arm wrestling because you are ON FIRE. Even better, you get set back on fire during the after-wrestle conversation, and talking as the victor while in blazes is awesome. <insert Initial D/HnK/Ippo/The Last Dragon/whatever you want thing about the aura> Of course, you do get to watch your health drop a bit afterwards because you've been set on fire, but who cares it's awesome.
Cardinal_Sin Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 Shouldn't the fire spread to your opponent too? I assumed in most white RPG's that kind of status effect is modelled to be contagious. In other news, http://www.npr.org/2011/05/31/136721965/al-qaidas-paper-trail-a-treasure-trove-for-u-s?ft=1&f=1001 The seized documents showed that al-Qaida paid an unusual amount of attention to its fighters and their families. Married members were allowed to have seven days of vacation for every three weeks worked. Bachelors got five days off a month. The kind of benefits package you would kill for (quite literally). How do these terrorists stay hungry?
Saru Kada Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 haha shit more pay for having extra wives. truly an amazing benefits package.

BagLunch Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 So the place I'm working at is like the ethnicity twilight zone. During our daily stand-up meeting, I am the only Asian person. In fact, there are more women in the meeting than there are Asian people (and no, none of the women in the meeting are Asian). I don't know if there's a single Indian guy on the team.
ghostgoodboy Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pxu2-Ts4AWM like it or not, skip to 2:00 or watch it TILL NEAR THE END. LUNLONGGOOOO.
