Tintin 3D movie directed by Spielberg.

Random observations:

- the opening credit text which is allcaps bold yellow looks superficially like the font used for Watchmen

- Tintin has an English accent. It's never mentioned in the comics what kind of accent he has, though he is from Belgium (where English is not one of the main languages).

- the sets are quite realistic, though the characters are quite stylized. This seems especially at odds with how the comics looked, with their uniform lines, clean flat colors, minimal (was there even any?) use of hatching etc. on both the characters and the backgrounds

- Tintin looks weird as hell in this 3D depiction. He never had a terribly detailed face, and didn't have the wrinkles/beards of a bunch of the other recurring characters (Calculus, Haddock, Thompson and Thompson...), so when they translated that featurelessness to 3D, it looks bizarre.

- the comics were full of ridiculous cultural stereotypes, not the least of which was the American villain who was a greedy Jewish guy. The movie is being directed by Spielberg. Go figure.

holy shit tintin! not sure what plotline of this would be though, the desert makes me think tintin and the land of BLACK GOLD but that would be a weird place to start.

what's next, asterix and obelix the movie?

I saw the exploding watermelons article yesterday. I don't remember which news source it was from, but it was certainly a lot more legit than treehuggers.com. they had pictures of the exploded watermelons too. as far as all the foodstuffs horror stories from china go, it's said that the chances of being caught in china are far outweighed by the potential profit margins. also, this: http://www.chengduliving.com/fake-eggs-are-no-joke/

nevermind, it's going to be crab with the golden claws + the secret of the unicorn/red rackham's treasure. makes sense, because the series really starts picking up following the introduction of captain haddock. don't know if they'll be able to smoothly integrate the first with the latter two though, they'll have to make some changes to the storylines to make it work.

Land of BLACK GOLD. My favourites still the ones where they go to the MOON.

the SACRIFICE man

from then on in at an early age i always pondered what it felt like to be in space without protection from the cold and without air

mike: thanks man!! I appreciate it. I arrive 9:45pm like last time. I'll pay for food if you decide to eat something after (KFC???).

Anyone want to do a tour of EA (Friday, 3pm)? A friend who works there is offering to give a tour for up to 4 ppl including myself.

EA friend is a girl who used to live in the same dorm as me. She's part of the PR department. Does Victor still work at EA? maybe I'll say hi and challenge him to MvC3

Also, best part of Crysis 2:

When you activate a mode, just like in Crysis 1 it says "MAXIMUM <thing>" in its deep macho computer voice

When you step into an environmental hazard, it says, "DANGER" in its deep macho computer voice

If you time it just right, you can make the suit say, "MAXIMUM DANGER" in its deep macho computer voice

And then you feel more macho than ever

I only get about 1.75$ extra for working nightshift. It's not bad but after a while you get pretty tired. Fucks up with sleeping patterns and everything, which was why I didn't work out last year. But no, gotta stay buff. Go work out at the gym after I get home from work. I get mcdics for breakfast too. So convenient, so good.

Save some KFC for me. I'll be there Friday.
