Asia in general is an insane place when it comes to higher education. There are just too goddamn many people there, so the value of entering a good school is inflated to demented levels. In some ways I wish that this would lead to the development of more and superior trade schools, but building up a school's reputation is a terribly difficult and long-term thing. Let's face it: if your school has to advertise itself, nobody takes it seriously. But if your school doesn't promote itself, nobody will know about it. Actually I think it'd be an incredibly interesting project from many perspectives.
