Honest to goodness question, not trying to start any drama, Im honestly extremely curious cause I just cant understand...u guys have a wide spread rep for being closed off, why is it that with such a niche game are u guys like that? Is it aCCidental, dont you think it would be better for every1 in the fgc if u guys, u know welcomed ppl and allowed ur game to grow? I am asking in the sincrest way possible.

On aside note I wold like to say that I really disliked being attacked in my aegis thread by guys like Pui and hermes for not being "committed". I have not only commited GREATLY to grinding MK, I tried oing the same with blazblue cs2, travelling for hours at a time to the middle of nowhere only by transit just to be closed off by the ame guys lecturing me about commitment...thats...uh...(and Im saying this in the nicest tone possible) extremely unfair to me, and would like to never ever see it again directed towards me as i do rightly find it offensive conisdering everything. Not starting shit, Im being EXTREMEMLY MATURE, AND ADDRESSING AN ISSUE IN A STERN, NON CONFRONTATIONAL MANNER.

*ready to brush off pointless drama and flaming if it happens*

and no i dont proof read my posts.

I don't know what kind of attack you suffered in your Aegis thread, but you should understand that it's less about them being closed to new people in the community and more about the enduring personality these guys have. If you actually read this thread, you'll get some context and see that they troll each other as much or more than any newcomers. It's a lot of harsh jokes at peoples' expense. You said you're ready to brush off any pointless drama and flaming; if there is any, you're creating it yourself by taking their comments too seriously. Lighten up and roll with the punches.

This "commitment" thing you're talking about sounds more like an issue with the way you tackle your grinding, and the way that they interpreted whatever explanation you gave. I know that I can't stand to be in training mode for more than 10 minutes at a time, so I'm a permascrub. Maybe you aren't getting the best bang for your buck in training mode, time-wise. By a "lack of commitment", they may have meant that you're not going the extra mile to train yourself, like watching top players games to learn match-ups and practicing optimum combos for damage, corner-carry, meter gain, etc. Having made the long trip to LG once from Etobicoke, I certainly wouldn't say that that took too much commitment, just a lot of free time.

The one time I came out to LG at the beginning of the year, they were as welcoming as could be expected once it was obvious that I didn't have a clue what I was doing; I got a few tips here and there, but like any close-knit community, they were mostly there to talk to each other and I would either need to work my way into the group or else just let things happen around me; I was just an extra body that wasn't part of their normal social scene. All it takes to get in with any community is a foot in the door and the right attitude, and what that attitude is will differ from one community to the next. To be honest, the most intimidating thing about this community for me is just the fact that nobody else at my level (rock-bottom with no combos) shows up in person, or even posts here more than a handful of times. I think a better way of describing this community than "closed-off" is "intimidatingly good at anime games from the viewpoint of a newcomer". The community doesn't grow because all the scrubs go home and cry after they learn that they don't know how to do anything but hold forward.

I think the main problem is that we don't even meet up anymore, which would probably frustrate any prospective newcomers. I was lucky enough to have entered the community back when we went to Lovegety every Friday, and back then it was totally packed. Now, newcomers don't even get a chance to play (and not just you guys, but me as well, you have no idea how badly I wanna play GG and BB again).

I was lucky enough to find out about dustloop right around when GG ranbats at LG stopped from lack of players, and then have sooo damn many of my subsequent attempts to meet up with people get preempted by being sent out of Canada for my work (which is especially frustrating because I didn't have to travel much at all in the previous years at the same job *laughs* ). You know, if you call that "lucky". Plus I have a slow time of improving when I usually only have about 30-60 minutes per weekday when I'm not busy with either work or personal obligations. Though I did become the unofficial 3rd best HnK player in Waterloo last year despite needing to drive for about 3+ hours round trip to actually get to/from Waterloo, so that's...something?

ok now that Russell actually pointed here on facebook I need to say something lol. I CANT HELP IT BLAME RUSSELL.

1. Nobody "attacked you" in that whole thread. In fact, you attacked us first with this post which got Hermes pissed off

" No offense but you guys are gonna say the same shit about GG when CP comes out. I think I'll play something as solid as P4U where Ive actually learned a char a bit and at the very least play it till either CP or Innustice instead of jump aroun games bc their new...capcom community at least got that right over anime community :P"

2. I dont think anybody mentioned anything about commitment except you in that one post again I guess. If anything about commitment, its that we've been playing GG for > 10 years or something, i don't see anything else about commitment on that thread. I guess my troll post about "BACK IN MY DAY" would count as well but that post if not already obvious was troll as fuck.

3. The only thing anybody "attacked" was "P4U being a solid game" over any other anime game in existence, because it is not. From then on the whole thread went to get trolled because "P4U is a solid game".

Now as to the whole situation about being closed off... We don't "exclude" people (well, sometimes we do due to personality reasons) or discourage people trying to learn the game. People naturally get discouraged because of two things imo... mentioned by many others.

1) Small community which has been around for a while means we really are a close group of friends. For a new guy, seeing this is discouraging coz you feel unwanted since everybody else knows everybody and nobody knows you. Its not like capcom where the community is huge enough that everybody is new and don't know people outside of the select few friends.

In fact its weird here because we're such a small community, that even tho there are people you obviously dislike for certain reasons, you eventually become ok with each other. Fuck you Ralph, come back and get bodied =/ Where did this guy go anyway lol.

2) Anime game skill differences are REALLY apparent. And they carry over to other anime games. Essentially the new guy is doing 2 hit combos where we are doing 20 hit combos and they die in 2 combos. Its very discouraging for new players to play only against a bunch of seasoned players.

so uh yea. you can take this post however you'd like. I personally think at this point nothing much matters for the anime community because the majority of us are old and sick and don't really care about FGCs anymore. Its just a way for us to gather up and chill and past time as a group of friends.

EXCEPT FOR THE YOUNGSTERS LIKE BRIAN AND ROLDY AND LINEAR? THESE NON EDUCATED BLACKS (inside joke pzpzpz) JUST SIT AND HOME AND NETPLAY/TRAINING MODE ALL DAY AND NOW THEY ARE THE BEST ANIME PLAYERS. HERE LET ME ATTACK YOU IN AN EXTREMELY MATURE AND NON CONFRONTATIONAL MANNER, YOUR COMMITMENT HAS BROUGHT YOU NOWHERE WITHIN A COMMUNITY COMPARED TO THESE GUYS, MAYBE ITS TIME YOU CONSIDER ANOTHER HOBBY OR REFLECT UPON YOUR COMMITMENT'S EFFECTIVENESS AND MAKE SOME CHANGES.

lol im hungry, whens lunch~

Kaeru is older than most of you self proclaimed old men but he has more TAMASHII than MTL and TO combined... You guys should learn from him!

And least to say, being completely racked and overrun by better players shouldn't be considered as a bad thing and never come back, a truly passionate player should use it as a motivation. The first time I stepped in the scene with my hella scrubby Makoto in the beginning of CS2 it was disastrous but by going back I've improved a lot and still doing so, I may not be as good as some, but its still going somewhere.

This recent discussion was passed to my desk while I was sleeping. I never even knew about the old thread nor do I care about it. Airdasher Community are awesome peeps. They can openly choose who to hang out with but that doesn't mean they are not accepting. If new bloodz are really serious about joining the community and be one of its members, then they have to put the time to hang out with them. For some, it's just hard because most of them live in Scarborough. I mean, you have to be driving to meet up with them. I miss the arcade days.
