Well that's good, anything serious happen to you?

Anyways, Justin I found the tier list you mentioned, it's actually very recent

------------------------------

S | Makoto

------------------------------

  | Noel, Hazama, Jin

A | Litchi, Valkenhayn

  | Carl

  | Rachel, Taokaka

------------------------------

  | Tsubaki, Lambda, Platinum

B | Haku-Men, Mu-12

  | Arakune, Ragna, Bang

------------------------------

C | Tager

------------------------------

I totally understand Litchi making it to A tier, but wasn't Platinum and Tsubaki there before as well? Also I don't see how Arakune is in B whereas Rachel IMO should be in upper B.

Posted

Because Arakune isn't that good. People just need to block better, not drop their combos, and not get airthrown.

Also, I learned that we need another party game for replacement purposes, start throwing out suggestions.

Mario Party. No more suggestions.

I don't believe this tierlist. For me, it seems like everybody is S-tier--just always higher than me. By a lot.

"Gastreoesophagul Reflux Disease" I pretty much couldn't breath properly amongst other problems I had. Medicine tastes horrid and they gave me two huge bottles of the stuff XD

DAMN LIBRARY!! Always so high ranked!!

So, Tsubaki and Rachel are actually viable in this version of the game? Tsubaki seems a lot better from the few videos I've seen.

And, wow, I had GERD before. It sucks. What helped me was elevating the head of my bed at night and drinking green tea (although apparently green tea makes some people worse?). In any case, I hope you're doing better!

Mu should be A tier in my completely biased opinion.

I still don't see why Valk is in A-tier. Maybe I just haven't seen any good ones.

Luke, Tsubaki and Rachel are gdlk in CS2.

Hope you're doing okay Marq. And where the eff is Vince.

Luke's posts always makes me excited.

Mmmmmm.

Do you find the prospect of playing Guilty Gear against me titillating, or should I cue the awkward silence?

Wait, nevermind, both those sounded weird. Let's start over.

...

So a friend of mine said to watch this while listening to this. It was pretty epic.

Luke, Tsubaki and Rachel are gdlk in CS2.

Gdlk, eh? That's good for me, since those are the only two characters I've really had fun playing in BB. I feel like I should try playing it again, but I'm not sure I'm ready to try and overcome the "I don't have this game and won't be getting it for some time yet, if ever" problem. And, damn, Tager players just can't seem to catch a break. He kind of reminds me of Zappa in that sense.

Also, I'm leaving again for Louisiana in August and, if anyone's interested, I'd like to play some Guilty Gear with people before I go. Or are you all too busy with CS2 and MVC3? =P

Luke: I think several people are up for playing some GGXX, but many might be out of practice, I know I am for sure.... at least Potemkin does not require much upkeep to maintain =)

Mehraj had the idea to start a VINCE WATCH mission where we stake out his house in Gilbert, any volunteers?

CS2 related: don't know if this is old or not, but has anyone tried doing Tagers challenge 9? It seems that the game simply won't let you do it since it won't let you magnetize your opponent for some reason, even the demonstration wouldn't work.

I'll do Tager's challenge again, but CS2, in a couple minutes here.

Where does Vince live. I live in Gilbert, with Mehraj, but closer to Vince, I believe. I was told San Tan.

Luke, I think a copy of CS is only like ~$30 nowadays (even less if you buy online). And I would love to play GG again; I still have so much to learn.

And yeah Spiteful, Tager Mission 9 won't magnetize them for some reason. It's a known problem that they still haven't fixed yet.

Nick, good idea, I'll see what I can salvage from my Gamecube, I'm like 90% sure I don't have the game anymore though, we'll see. For certain though I know I only have one or two controllers, one of which may or may not be wireless.

Marq, that sounds horrible. Is it a curable thing that you're working on or is it going to be a persistent factor in your life?

Luke, sup, yeah Rachel and Tsubaki are good, then again everyone is actually good now; the tier list actually portrays pretty accurately how balanced the game has finally become. Makoto isn't really that much higher than everyone I just think that a huge part of her being in S-tier is because she actually gets above average damage off of one of the fastest and longest ranged set of A moves in the game. Oddly enough you barely see any Makotos in the vids that a-cho uploads to youtube, I did see a Bang take out a really good Rachel player who was running the gauntlet on some people and then make a 3-win streak of his own in the latest a-cho vid.

Yeah Vince's brother never got back to my msg on XBL, even though I've seen him on since.

EDIT: I missed this entire page, Luke if you wanna play GG then come to my place on Friday, maybe people will be more inclined to keep the setup going for longer than 2 hours if you're here.

Erik, getting a copy of CS isn't the problem, unfortunately. Having to also get a PS3 or an XBox 360 as well is, though, since I don't have either system. And at the moment I have literally zero money to spare, as not only am I moving in a little over a month, but I'm also going to be working as a teaching assistant, which is great, but it means I'm going to have to be able to coast for about a month or more before I get my first pay check, and I just have to be sure I've got enough to be able to do that.

And I'm happy to teach my GG tips and such if you're interested. I'm sure you've come a long way since I last played you, but I know there's a lot to keep track of in GG.

Also, Raul, yeah, Pot seems relatively straightforward, and you've got a great matchup against Sol. Still, I've acquired a few tricks recently from playing a really good Pot player online, but it was in #R, and I want to try them against an AC Pot. :)

Ruben - Not exactly trying to answer for Marq here, but GERD is curable. It just takes a while, and it is a bitch. I know from experience. Also, if I can make it out on Friday, and I think I should be able to, I've got a copy of SB:Melee and a couple spare controllers lying around somewhere that I can bring.

Yes, it's curable. It just sounds like something Arakune spits up, is all. About 85~90% of the symptoms I had before are gone, with minor breathing problems every now and then. But MUCH better than before.

Speaking of BlazBlue, I love how the majority of online players think they're too good to play me or something. With that said, I definitely need more offline experience (and I'm still playing AH3 no matter what anyone says lol)

So I got bored and checked some of the threads in Match Finder. A lot of people actually talk about BlazBlue in their threads. I compared to ours.

We talk about dinner plans, Vince's death, and GERD.

My goodness. I can savor this thread like a juicy steak.

Clearly we know all their is to know about Blaze so we discuss other things that are forever a mystery to us. I mean seriously, we never know what to do or where to go after an intense gaming session (or at least not immediately)

So, after the gaming night at Rubens on friday I realized that a lot of us aren't sure of certain option selects or techniques you can take advantage of to try to maintain or escape pressure. So, here I present to you, kind folk of Arizona.. the little bit of info I do know

The barrier block // throw tech OS still exists. However, if you do it and they do not throw you (meaning you don't break anything) you are vulnerable to a throw reject miss afterwards.

IAD - When IAD'ing, try to whiff a fast normal like a jab as soon as your dash starts. This cancels your dash, allowing you to block midway, cancel into any other air normal (this will also auto correct the air normal if you cross the opponent up) and do special moves as per usual. Cancelling the air dash this way also allows your character to float in the air longer.

When trying to escape pressure but scared of random air throws, jump nuetral and do the barrier block OS. You'll either tech a throw or barrier block. Allowing you to try a quick escape with a air dash backwards or double jump.

-NOTE- This is not an answer to every situation, just when you're afraid of being air thrown. Doing this too much can get you punished hard when read correctly.

The best way to escape pressure and avoid mixup (other than blocking the correct way, SCRUB!) is a technique called chicken blocking. Basically, hold up back and barrier as soon as you leave the ground. This is only viable for characters with very fast jumps (look up your characters jump start up in the frame data section). Chicken blocking allows you to skip high/low mixup and the barrier avoids air unblockables along with extra pushback. Due be sure that you don't wear down your barrier too much with this technique. This also kills most reversal potential you could have had utilizing IB.

Some OS are more character specific, but one that worked in CS1 very well that may/may not work in CS2 due the the extra start up frames.... Hazama's hotenjin OS. Basically, in CS1, Hazama, when attempting oki, would input 214214B on wake up. This resulted in a 5b on nuetral tech (which is +2 on block) and a hotenjin if the opponent attempted to roll through. The 5B will also pick up roll back attempts if timed correctly. Try applying this to some of your own specials to see if you can net big damage off people who have a habit of roll teching. Learning the meaty timing is extremely important and arguably the hardest part of this OS.

Another technique for landing raw reversals or supers involves instant blocking. Since the previous OS involved Hazama, we'll use him again for an example. A good way to reversal hotenjin through block strings is using a half circle forward motion. Since you need to hit back to IB and Hazama's super is 236236. You can combine both by doing 4123641236. This will make sure your hotenjin comes out as soon as possible after creating an opening with an instant block. Try using the same technique for your characters reversals. DP = 641236.

Litchis might also want to experiment with her DP in the same fashion as Hazama's hotenjin OS. That way you can possibly DP any roll throughs and apply pressure after the staff has been set.

On one last note, explore your character's possibilities for altering air dash trajectories.

ex: litchi / carl throw whiffs; bang nail glides.

I'll update this as I remember more.

I'm swapping shifts w/my coworker til August so I actually have Fridays free for the next few weeks.

If there's room at Ruben's, I'd love to get slapped around at Guilty Gear some. It's been so long.

OS stuff

Don't forget about the corner tech punish OS:

http://s1.zetaboards.com/blazblue/single/?p=581975&t=4032106

Basically you can 2A, 2A again while holding A+B or A+C on their wakeup. With Mu I do 2A, then 2A+Cxn. If they roll, they get hit and you can go into a combo.

And I'm happy to teach my GG tips and such if you're interested. I'm sure you've come a long way since I last played you, but I know there's a lot to keep track of in GG.

I think you'll be a little disappointed at that bold part :v:...but I'm definitely willing to learn.

I'd like to work on my hakumen. I play online too much. Would be cool if I could get some tips.

Your name is Chris? You were at Revelations right? You should come over to to Ruben's or Justin's next time there's a meetup.
