Your name is Chris? You were at Revelations right? You should come over to to Ruben's or Justin's next time there's a meetup.

Yeah I was at Revelations. Online screwed me up badly. Only after the tournament was over, is when I got use to the smoothness. Yeah i'll try and come down to a meet up.

So, after the gaming night at Rubens on friday I realized that a lot of us aren't sure of certain option selects or techniques you can take advantage of to try to maintain or escape pressure. So, here I present to you, kind folk of Arizona.. the little bit of info I do know

The barrier block // throw tech OS still exists. However, if you do it and they do not throw you (meaning you don't break anything) you are vulnerable to a throw reject miss afterwards.

IAD - When IAD'ing, try to whiff a fast normal like a jab as soon as your dash starts. This cancels your dash, allowing you to block midway, cancel into any other air normal (this will also auto correct the air normal if you cross the opponent up) and do special moves as per usual. Cancelling the air dash this way also allows your character to float in the air longer.

When trying to escape pressure but scared of random air throws, jump nuetral and do the barrier block OS. You'll either tech a throw or barrier block. Allowing you to try a quick escape with a air dash backwards or double jump.

-NOTE- This is not an answer to every situation, just when you're afraid of being air thrown. Doing this too much can get you punished hard when read correctly.

The best way to escape pressure and avoid mixup (other than blocking the correct way, SCRUB!) is a technique called chicken blocking. Basically, hold up back and barrier as soon as you leave the ground. This is only viable for characters with very fast jumps (look up your characters jump start up in the frame data section). Chicken blocking allows you to skip high/low mixup and the barrier avoids air unblockables along with extra pushback. Due be sure that you don't wear down your barrier too much with this technique. This also kills most reversal potential you could have had utilizing IB.

Some OS are more character specific, but one that worked in CS1 very well that may/may not work in CS2 due the the extra start up frames.... Hazama's hotenjin OS. Basically, in CS1, Hazama, when attempting oki, would input 214214B on wake up. This resulted in a 5b on nuetral tech (which is +2 on block) and a hotenjin if the opponent attempted to roll through. The 5B will also pick up roll back attempts if timed correctly. Try applying this to some of your own specials to see if you can net big damage off people who have a habit of roll teching. Learning the meaty timing is extremely important and arguably the hardest part of this OS.

Another technique for landing raw reversals or supers involves instant blocking. Since the previous OS involved Hazama, we'll use him again for an example. A good way to reversal hotenjin through block strings is using a half circle forward motion. Since you need to hit back to IB and Hazama's super is 236236. You can combine both by doing 4123641236. This will make sure your hotenjin comes out as soon as possible after creating an opening with an instant block. Try using the same technique for your characters reversals. DP = 641236.

Litchis might also want to experiment with her DP in the same fashion as Hazama's hotenjin OS. That way you can possibly DP any roll throughs and apply pressure after the staff has been set.

On one last note, explore your character's possibilities for altering air dash trajectories.

ex: litchi / carl throw whiffs; bang nail glides.

I'll update this as I remember more.

Chris and Dan, definitely come over, I mean DAMN if we have Dan AND Luke over we might even be able to hold up two GG setups. Dan how many PS2 sticks do you have? It's always the limiting factor in the GG equation.

If Dan, Luke and Chris are free this Friday I have no problem with people coming over again.

Apparently "they" don't make the Rock Band guitars anymore so I had to get one of the ones you play "Pro Guitar" mode on, so yeah maybe Nick will have fun with that.

Anyways let me know if ya'll wanna chill this Friday again.

I have work at 5PM on friday. Unless if people get to your place at like noon I could play for a few hours. My work is probably about 10mins away from your place Ruben.

Before EVO, I plan on coming down to Phoenix to play with you guys......but as I've said so many times, I've got a crappy job in which I won't know what days I have off until like a day b4 I have one. This weekend, for instance, we have Friday off, and I really want to try to go down tomorrow (Thursday), but we got work tomorrow too, and on Saturday......Plz don't hate me for not showing up!

If I do figure out coming down for Friday, are you guys doing your usual stuff?

This Friday at Rubens again sounds great, last Friday was awesome, plenty of room, plenty of set ups, and I didn't mind the drive at all.

I would be willing to bring my TV this Friday since it sounds like a lot more people are going to be there this time.

Justin: Thanks for posting tips and tricks for BB, that was a huge help. I tried to implement it into my Noel, we will see if I can pull anything new off on people this Friday.

FUCKING NEVERMIND

Anyways, I finally had a chance to read over your post Justin, good stuff, although I can't get the IAD thing to work, but I'm probably doing it wrong, you can show me next time you come over.

Chris, I don't have people over until 5-6pm sorry. If you get off work at a reasonable time though people tend to stay at my place till fucking like 2am or somethin', dunno what's up with that so~~~~

Raul, thanks for the offer but I just don't think there's anymore room in the house and I don't wanna re-create the microwave power trip that happened at my apartment when we were using too much electricity. If we end up using both CRT's for GG then I'll put something else on the MvC3 monitor if people would rather play something else on it.

Also I don't have jack shit related to Smash bros. so if you guys wanna use that as a party game once RB goes away then ya gotta bring it urselves, otherwise I'll have Ray bring Sad-life Party # (I forgot the number), just saying in advance I won't play either of those games.

Tubazo, I hope you can make it.

I dunno if it'll be 5 or 6 pm this week since I have to run some errands beforehand but I don't know if I had to run to west phoenix or not so I'll post a definite time tomorrow.

Time to commence operation glue RB drum pedal to hard surface, gotta go to ACE hardware...... where the pros shop......

Also, I'm so happy to have my internet working properly finally.

No problemo~ I'll show you how to do it. It's not as weird as it sounds. Plus, it's too useful to not learn!

that's a really good idea about the pedal Ruben, i would also suggest using some screws along with the glue, that should keep it together for a good long while.

Ruben - I've got two sticks. I'll be sure to bring them both!

I can drag that 21" and a spare PS2 and copy of AC along with me as well if need be.

Oh okay np then. I'll prolly just come over next time. I gotta close on Friday so I won't be out of work until 10:30-11PM

As I mentioned before, I've got Melee and a couple of controllers lying around, so I'll just bring those tomorrow and if people want to play, cool, but if not, then that's fine too. I only have two controllers, though, so hopefully either you've got two or someone else wouldn't mind bringing some.

Also, GG, Melee, AND Dan...Nick's right, it really does sound like Melty Haus, haha. Excellent.

OK! I am officially coming down to Phoenix, and will be there from 8pm tonight til like 8am Saturday!

...........But I need a ride from my place to where yall are meeting. Ruben's place? I don't have a car, but I am willing to pay money for gas/food for whoever is picking me up. I live in north Phoenix/Glendale, and will need a ride to and back. I'll bring my PS3, which haz all of the BB Data, and SSF4AE, AND can play GGAC (even though I've been told that it sucks in terms of lag or whatever).

Please hit me up sometime if you're willing to pick me up, otherwise, I'll just cry at my brother's place that no one in Phoenix wants to play with me:

"Would like to"....or "Going to"....? Hahahaha, I'm kinda freaked out cuz I have like no one's contacts, just barely got a ride from Flag to Phoenix, and am pretty sure no one is going to call me. I'll assume you'll be there Hateraid Red (Justin, right?), but if you could please pass my number around to whoever can drive me, that would be awesome cuz I would like to play you guys too! I'll pitch in for pizza or whatever you guys get for food.

Dan, thanks for the offer, but like I said to Raul, there just isn't enough space for more TV's, not to mention I worry about blowing a fuse. Your two PS2 sticks will be more than helpful though.

Chris, like I said people tend to stay pretty late so even if you stopped by just for a little bit after 10pm some people would probably still play you.

Luke, I think Nick would bring some GC controllers if you brought the game n stuff.

Tubazo, where exactly do you live, I might be in your area earlier in the day. If it's really really far then maybe you could give me some money for gas, but I'm sure it would be worth it seeing how I know you wanna play a lot of us and a lot of people would love the Arakune matchup experience.

To ACE Hardware I go.

The rough estimate of where I live(cuz the following address is my parents place, but I will most likely be at my friends or brothers place, which is about a 5 minute drive from my parents):

43rd ave and union hills.

Again, I've been seriously wanting to play BB with u guys, so i will be very grateful for anyone who can drive me over there. Don't hesitate to call or text me! 623-707-7934
