Robawtninja Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 So off of rough translations Gold burst is changed in a completely different way. Apparently an offensive burst gives you a power up, not meter. So Ragna gets Blood Kain or something like that on burst... And Bang gets Furinkazan...?! Lolwtf.

YOU DO NOT YET FEAR DA BEEZ! WE MUST MAKES HIM CRY!....... I honestly didn't read you saying "I don't really", I heard Arakune say in his awesome voice "DID YOU KNOW!?!" In all seriousness, he's a weird subject when it comes to hardcore players. Personally, I still believe BB is the most balanced fighter in the current market, and that even though people find flaws with certain strategies or characters, I think people will ALWAYS find things that don't feel "right". Arakune is pretty good (An Arakune got 3rd at EVO), but he isn't unbeatable (I got tied 17th with Zeromus at EVO, and couldn't even beat a freakin Tao!). He has problems, and without curse, he's easily one of the worst characters in the game. He does, however, have that "fear" mechanic. The idea that players have to think too much when fighting against Arakune. Save your burst, or risk getting cursed? Jump into a cloud, or try to turtle until it goes away? Jump in on him, or stay on the ground and risk him getting in the air (which makes non-curse Arakune somewhat playable)? I also believe Arakune's worse match-up is against Arakune, but he's still hella free to rushdown, which EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER in BB can do better than him. He just takes time to figure out. Slight UMvC3 detour because that's the only game I'm good at nowadays :-( My "fake" Firebrand unblockable only works on part of the cast (just double jump, air dash or flight mode away), but even if they land before they get hit or block my Arthur assist, they can simply jump TOWARDS Firebrand and hit him before the unblockable comes out. This line of thinking comes from The Two Towers. "The closer you are to danger, the farther you are from harm." This is something I believe people who rag on Arakune need to realize. Once you jump on him, he's dead in two combos. Without 50 meter, he has no safe wake-up, and his only "safe" wake-up requires 100 meter. Sure, any character is a problem when I can scrub out two tourney wins with my horrible tactics, but the idea that he needs to be "removed" from the game can only take one step before you realize that EVERY character has reasons why they should be "removed" from the game. TL;DR: Beez are only scary once you realize you don't have to cut down the tree to deal with them. There plenty of ways to deal with them, just as long as you remember that every character is equipped with a flame thrower (except for Tager, he only has bug repellent grenades).

The reason people hate him is not because of fear, but annoyance. I label Arakune and Ragna as dildos. You just need your hand, your dildo, and yourself. Then you just play with yourself when the curse meter is full or Blood Kain is engaged because the combos all valid for a good 25 seconds anyways. It's not like they can tech. Back in netplay in CS, once I got cursed, I dropped the controller and just fucking went on Fakku and I would come back just to see he is still doing the 159 hit combo. Zeromus_X Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 Arakune is S-Tier in Extend; a mash into 40% curse, 100% curse near corner or off 5D hit midscreen, random 2C fatal into full curse, stupid full curse super, and jC instant overhead crossup BS into 7k. And if you actually manage to block his mixup in curse, you get your guard primers broken and die anyway. He requires execution for his more advanced stuff but once you learn that stuff he's probably one of the least interactive characters in the game. Also I'll be mad disappointed if they fucking removed my character from the game. Anyways, P4 tomorrow.

Because your character gets stuck on the wall and then falls like a pancake. I really look forward to this than P4A. Loketest in around 36 hours for me. Hopefully I can get footages if nobody gets them in time.

Again, I don't work for ASW, so I'm not defending any character moreso than others. This is a general conversation that we have had with other characters, in other games, and we WILL have these conversations in future games with future characters. I'm saying that the moment we stop blaming things we don't control and start focusing on ways to overcome our challenges with tactics we CAN control is the moment we will truly evolve as a FGC. Most people just kept pushing buttons on Hulk's H, not realizing his super armor, or push-blocking Firebrand's approaches to allow him to cross-up/under. This guy, however, kept a cool head and waited for me to panic and punished me hardcore. I felt like I couldn't do anything against him, so while my salt level was pretty high after that, I shook his hand and started thinking about what I can do against this kind of keep away. Fast forward to Hazbat 1.5, and off stream I had to play him again (he beat Haz, so it was either revenge or play against the host), and I caught him in a happy birthday in the first round. He right away started blaming the monitor sound (it was at 100%), started saying something was wrong with his pad (he uses regular Xbox controllers), and said something along the lines of "My allergies are going off". The second round, however, he beat me pretty bad, but didn't say anything, so after switching out Firebrand, I won the 3rd round, in which he repeated his excuses again. Basically, his way of losing was to blame ANYTHING and EVERYTHING other than the fact that it said KO on the screen and he wasn't the one who won. He blamed things he couldn't control to coverup the fact that he stopped caring about the things he COULD control in the match. Plus, I do honestly take light offense because he is my main. Don't get it twisted, I'm not mad or personally hurt when people hate on him, and I've said plenty of times that Arakune's worst matchup is against Arakune, so I hate him just as much (if not, more) than you guys. I also believe that we can only love something as much as we hate it at the same time, so my love to this blob of a character is only visible after realizing how much I abhor fighting against him. Just try to remember that every character in every game has something we hate about them, and that's why we love those games so much! With P4A just around the corner, I'm sure we are gonna have an awesome time! I'm also sure we are gonna find a couple of things that irritate us about it, so make sure we have this open dialogue to give pointers and ideas of what we CAN do instead of straight up trolling on what we CAN'T do. TL;DR: Thinking about better things like Ray's bod and KOF skills made me ramble again in another patented Tubazo "You type too much" post. It doesn't help that I've been thinking more each time I've been posting a big long rant about my top 7 BB songs on my Facebook, so once I'm done talking about how much I love Memory of Tears (SPOILERS! kappa) on my Facebook, I'll be back to short posts that people can actually read in less than a minute. Omegashrimp Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 If I were to balance Arakune, I would make his curse gauge really short so he curses fast, but his combos aren't so freaking long. On another note, I'm really excited to see Tsubaki not have her moveset like a SF character (l. SRK/m.SRK/H.SRK) That new distortion looks kind of flimsy though. Like Morrigan's Finishing Shower or something. And still no Jubei lols.

Anyways Bullet looks hot. A combination of Makoto and Bang? A super that brings people to the corner? I like the sound of this.
Zeromus_X Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 The main issue with Arakune compared to other characters is that most of the cast doesn't have any tools to interact with his gameplan. Unless you have a good DP, you can't challenge his jB, or get out of his gapless jB pressure. You also can't really meaty him on wakeup because of his Slayer backdash BS. Letting him hitconfirm more easily off of A mash lets him get rewarded for doing stupid/"scrubby" things. Another problem is how dead angles and green bursts use up your guard primers in Extend, making Arakune's curse pretty much the end of the round like CT for most characters. He basically became this character that gets rewarded for being random, and punishes the other player for trying to use their defensive mechanics. As opposed to CS2 where he was still strong but had to work harder to curse and the other player got more than one chance after being cursed. I still want to see what Tsubaki's sonic boom and command grab look like.
