Blackgenma Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 ran a test on some things with quadra baliff, and found two interesting things when quadra baliff is hit with an Item lock while it is in its melee mode, as long as the status effect remains, it will not go into its range mode. if given the status effect on the range mode, it will continue to be in range mode until it goes back to melee mode normally. placing the mouth zipper on the unit while it is in range mode confers no benifit. it seems as though the range mode for quadra baliff is a skill which it must activate for a limited amount of time via its inventory. you can consider it a self buff like Sol's dragon install. this means you can prevent the quadra baliff from going into range mode for a limited amount of time if your fast enough and have a mouth zipper on hand. if you don't have a mouth zipper on hand, it's all good, because I found out that droping a scarecrow when he's aiming at you WILL draw his attention away from you for the most part, making the unit much less dangerous as a bodyguard for the enemy master. I hope these two discoveries will help with dealing with quadra baliff in the future.
NeoVid Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 Hey, Genma, could you post a link to a vid with a good JP Raven player? I think I'm going to have the chance to DL him soon, and I have the feeling he'll end up my most-played character. And I completely missed that post a while back about ideas for characters we'd like to see in the next GG2. Mine would be: 1)Dr Crow 2)Robo-Ky 3)Potemkin Though this got me thinking about which characters could logically fit as Masters in a future game. I realized that out of the characters we already know, Crow, Venom, Johnny, Potemkin, and maybe Slayer (at least according to one of his AC+ endings) all have large organizations connected to them that they could be ordering around. This would also lead to other characters having to appear in connection to them... and we already have Masters who share armies. ...MAN would a Zepp army have a completely different strategy depending on whether it's headed by Potemkin or Chipp.
Blackgenma Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 Avatar THINE is probably the best Raven player. Kimera cryin(So) vs Avatar THINE(Ra) Illyria http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm8109457 (Round 1) http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm8109729 (Round 2) http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm8109881 (Round 3) Kimera cryin(So) vs Avatar THINE(Ra) Ganymede http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm8116283 (Round 1) http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm8116483 (Round 2) http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm8116632 (Round 3) http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm8116800 (Round 4) http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm8116893 (Round 5) enjoy. on a side note, My GG2 disk was eaten by my friend's xbox. it froze mid online game (like always) I turn off the console, turn it back on, and the game wouldn't read. I open the tray, and I find the inside area of my disk is cracked. I Actually was considering quitting, But I love this game far too much to do that, even if next to no one plays it.
NeoVid Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 Thanks! And DAMN, that's depressing about your game. Good thing new copies are cheap, but still, having to replace a game because of Microsoft's crappiness is just pathetic.
Ayumu Gardevoir Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 I'd donate for a new game, but I live in the Backyard so... edit: I was messin' with Sol in training and found a combo that I will be spamming for the time being. 6X, 4X, 2X, 8Y. 171 damage and catches pesky sidestep spammers (like myself).
Blackgenma Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 I have finished posting the individual URL's for every video in the GG2 video thread. at least I think I have anyway. if I missed one, someone post about it here.
Ayumu Gardevoir Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Good stuff Genma, Will probably end up staying up all night watching them.
Blackgenma Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 they are a fun watch aren't they? well, most of them anyway. watched panda62 get his ass handed to him by HN Tappu today. "who needs strategy? just dump units in enemy territory and occasionally kill frogs. there's no way it won't work against Paradigm!" bad. Edit: 6X, 4X, 2X, 8Y is what I call the "bandit revolver combo" it doesn't do much damage, but it's awesome. you can add other stuff to the end of it if you don't care to finish it with a 8y too, so it's pretty nice.
Sol.Badguy Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 How was the raven dropping off servents while blast driving without hitting capture units? also, what do you do vs those damn P.bla-whatever mages that destroy armors =[ they work me pretty hard and I only know to kill them myself with my master.
Blackgenma Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 How was the raven dropping off servents while blast driving without hitting capture units? also, what do you do vs those damn P.bla-whatever mages that destroy armors =[ they work me pretty hard and I only know to kill them myself with my master. as for the raven comment, I don't really know what your talking about. I really can't see videos on my computer (I have to use another computer to do so), so I'm not going to check them. I never noticed him dropping off servants while running without preforming the capture drop, so I really can't say anything about it. one way to deal with P. mages is not to spam armors. They are pretty weak when they aren't facing armors. if there is a legion of them, I suppose some range or mobile units could help. if your dealing with a group of servants personally, and he's in that group, go for him first always.
Ayumu Gardevoir Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Just like TF2, always kill the support first (Magic/Ranged and Medic/Sniper/Spy)
Blackgenma Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 this has been bugging me for the longest time so I'm going to go ahead and ask it. in the sound test, there are voices for the units saying things I pretty much never hear them say. for example, the drills say "you the best sir" and "thank god" and such. I didn't think these voices in the game made it in the final build, but My friend boundary told me otherwise. he says we just don't notice it because we are so into the game when we play so we don't hear the servants say things like that. these messages are universal, every unit in sound test says thing along these lines(a compliment or acknowledgment of the their master, and a "I just got my ass saved by you, thanks" line) once, while playing an online match as paradigm (underworld hill 1, vs valentine, played by aedysr), I had a Leonard on the field, fighting a bunch of Melee's singlehandedly because all of his allies died. when I went there to help him out, he said to me "well, your an odd one aren't you?" or something along those lines, and it showed up in a text bubble (like when they update you on their status). I have never gotten a message from him like that, or any unit for that matter, before, and after that one time. so have any of you guys got messages like that from your servants? whether they are saying "hey whats up" to you, or they thank you for saving their ass? the leonard is the only time I can recall hearing the saving message from a unit. according to boundary, when queen says "my love" it's when Sol's around her, but I might be wrong about that. not sure if I remember correctly. EDIT: looking to get some games in this weekend, who available Friday through Sunday, and at what time?
Ayumu Gardevoir Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Maybe they were there for the older versions and were taken out of gameplay, but not the sound test? It's the only reason I can think of. That and the Leonard thing might just be a glitch or one that they over looked? I might be on this weekend, if you see me on send an invite and I'll see what I can do.
Sol.Badguy Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 I'll probably be on, send me and invite :p. And yes the raven dropped servents plenty of times w/o stopping, I guarentee it, I just wish I knew how to do it.
PandaKingEX Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Genma, they also have sound clips of them saying the name of the elite armors, like they would if they were dropping them off from the personal slots, but obviously you can't even pick up elite armors, so it's clear that they recorded a bunch of stuff ahead of time that they thought they might need, and never ended up using it in the final game. As for the Raven dropping off servants, are you sure he didn't hit a capture unit earlier, and then just didn't drop the servant off until later? Once you hit a capture unit, you have somewhere around 10 seconds to drop a servant off, maybe more, maybe less. I never tested exactly how long you get to drop it.
NeoVid Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 It was during this vid http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm8109457 And he was dropping units off while running full speed, at the start of the first round, before there were any capture units on the side of the battlefield he was on. Also, I am now really frustrated... Yesterday I was finally going to have the chance to get Raven and the Holy Knights' Fortress, but there weren't any MS points cards cheap enough for me. Then JJJ told me he had a solution, and he transferred his profile that has both onto my drive. We tried it out, and found out that as long as his profile was signed in, I could use both on mine. After playing enough games to be sure that Raven was going to be my main from now on (and killing JJJ's masterghost on the first round in two games in a row), I brought my 360 back home. And now Raven isn't accessible. The Fortress still shows up just fine, Raven is marked as downloaded on my drive, but he never shows up, no matter which profiles are signed in. Arrrg.
Ayumu Gardevoir Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Raven's pretty cool, I sometimes mess around with him since Valentine's and his armies are the same. Sad to hear about that though, Raven's too cool not to have. Holy Knight's Fortress isn't part of my tastes though, I like Ganymede (sp?) alot better.
Blackgenma Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Crap, I wanted those lines to be in game play SO BAD. maybe the Leonard moment was a glitch. after all, I had entered a room being the fifth person before, and stayed to see what would happen (I was labeled p113) maybe that led to my disk being eaten though, so in retrospect, I should have avoided that. it was REALLY weird when it happened though, it was like I was a spectator or something, in a points match with only 3 people in it (the host, another player, and the computer, the 4th bar on the top was missing and I had no character, instead I looked at someone else's character) and capture units stayed at the master ghost. (the loading screen said it was a 1 vs 1 where the host was facing himself, despite being a points match with 3 humans and a computer) weirdness.
Ayumu Gardevoir Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 Oh my god, if that didn't eat your disk then it would've been the most epic shit ever.
Blackgenma Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 gonna go buy the game again today. I hope what happened before never happens again, and I will feverishly avoid buggy shit like what I described above. this game's got nasty issues, which bother me. ( FREEZE FREEZE FREEZE FREEZE FREEZE FREEZE FREEZE FREEZE FREEZE FREEZE FREEZE FREEZE FREEZE) oh man, wouldn't you guys love to hear the units thanking you for saving their asses? or saying "yo, what's up, you rock"? man, it wouldn't have been awesome as hell, can't get over my disappointment.
Sol.Badguy Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 =[ does that mean no one has an answer to how he drops units off w/o hitting a capture unit? Ah well. I agree raven is way too cool to not have, regardless of how cheap he is xD. And I also agree it would have been so awesome if they kept the voice clips in even though I play it in japanese.
PandaKingEX Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 I don't know if you guys knew this or not, but if you just stand around idle with Valentine, she will begin having conversations with her balloon thing. Some of the stuff they talk about is pretty amusing.
NeoVid Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 Wow, I feel dumb for asking this, but I just realized I have no idea how most of the 4-player versions of the stages are laid out, so I need to know... How do you get the 4-player stages in training mode?
Blackgenma Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 Wow, I feel dumb for asking this, but I just realized I have no idea how most of the 4-player versions of the stages are laid out, so I need to know... How do you get the 4-player stages in training mode? you can't. mess with exhibition mode. lot's of practice for you. points matches have slightly different map layouts than team matches by the way. got my copy of overture (and a copy of blade storm). one may wonder why I buy games for consoles I don't own, and I don't know, but it works out for me somehow.
Blackgenma Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 DOUBLE POST what's your favorite map in the game? mine is underworld hill 2vs 2.
